Yang Yi charged toward the Siren on the left whose body was intact. He had no weapon in his hands; who knew where the broken bone had fallen.
But this was land. Other things might be scarce, but there were definitely plenty of rocks!
He grabbed a rock and charged. Halfway there, his Strength leveled up just in time, bringing his base Strength to 4 points and a full 6 points with bonuses!
"Hrr! Hrr!"
The Siren hissed a threat, her scales bristling.
She was quite clever. She seemed to know that the man before her was immune to her charms, so she stopped wasting her energy singing and prepared to tear him apart with sharp claws and teeth instead.
But what she did not know was... magic aside, humans were the undisputed rulers of the land. Even without firearms, their position could not be shaken!
Because humans fought with all kinds of weapons, and would not even give you a chance to fight them hand to hand!
Yang Yi was exactly like that. He had no sense of fair play whatsoever.
Seeing how close they were, he hurled the rock straight into the Siren's face.
Yang Yi had 6 points of Strength, above the average of 5. The blow hit the Siren hard, making her stagger as blood poured from her head.
He seized the opening to straddle her, grabbed a large pebble he had just picked up, and hammered it into her face without the slightest mercy for her beauty.
This was a man-eating beast wearing a beautiful skin. No normal person would show mercy, much less Yang Yi in his frenzied state.
Once, twice, three times...
Only when Yang Yi felt something shatter and the Siren beneath him stopped resisting did he stop.
He had not escaped unscathed. Her fish tail had lashed several dark, bruised welts across his back, and there were several scratches on his body where his flesh had been torn open.
The strength of that fish tail really was frightening. Fortunately, as Su Na had said, her upper body was about as strong as a human's.
As long as the fight took place on land, humans still had the advantage. In the sea, the reverse would be true.
After finishing off this Siren, Yang Yi picked up a piece of tissue, slipped it into his pocket, and ran toward the last Siren.
The fight there was at a stalemate.
Su Na and the Siren were locked together, rolling back and forth like a tumbling gourd, their faces and bodies covered in muddy water.
The Siren was wounded and missing an arm, while Su Na was physically weak. Locked in their struggle, neither could get the better of the other for the moment.
Then Yang Yi intervened, breaking the balance.
Two against one. Yang Yi pinned the Siren under his foot, drew his flintlock pistol, and prepared to shoot her in the head.
"Don't shoot! I want her intact, especially the head!"
Remembering Su Na's earlier request, Yang Yi stopped and asked, "Then what do you want me to do?"
"I've been watching. Her chest rises and falls, so she most likely breathes with lungs too. Try strangling her!"
Su Na pressed her full weight onto the Siren and signaled for Yang Yi to act.
He nodded and, without hesitation, clamped both hands tightly around the Siren's throat.
Before long, the Siren's struggles began to weaken.
A few minutes later, she stopped moving altogether, her eyes rolled back, seemingly dead.
To keep her from playing dead and reviving, Yang Yi maintained his grip for five minutes. Only when Su Na tapped him did he let go.
With that, all three Sirens were thoroughly dead.
"I didn't expect Sirens to breathe through their mouths too. I thought they had gills!" Yang Yi joked as he examined the Siren.
At first glance, she looked like a human and a fish forcibly stitched together.
Su Na felt around behind the Siren's ears.
"She has gills, behind her ears. We'll have to dissect her to find out exactly how the work is divided."
Su Na kept feeling around the Siren's body, fiddling with her like a child who had just received a coveted toy.
Yang Yi was not particularly interested. He only needed to know the Sirens' weaknesses and how to kill them. He did not need such a detailed understanding of their anatomy.
He opened the log to check the detailed information on Sirens.
[Name: Lesser Siren] [Description: Sirens are otherworldly monsters that capture men at sea with their singing and beauty. Half human and half fish, they usually live in groups. They enjoy thoroughly toying with their prey before eating them bit by bit. This one is a lesser individual, with limited intelligence and little strength.]
So there are Higher Sirens too... Yang Yi was filled with wariness.
Against a Higher Siren, he might have died in her tender embrace before his frenzied state even activated...
Even if it activated, he most likely would not be a match for her.
What terrifying creatures!
He hoped that by the next encounter, he would have developed some resistance to their charms.
Meanwhile, Su Na had already begun cutting up the Siren's corpse. The sight was rather bloody, so Yang Yi simply looked away and checked the weather forecast.
He had to gather information as quickly as possible and find out what had happened over the past three days.
---------- Today's weather A storm has arrived. Escape the dark clouds overhead as soon as possible! Location: Origin Sea (Storm Sea) Daylight duration: unknown Temperature: 12-20°C. Wind force: 8 ----------
Yang Yi began checking the announcements from the previous days.
[An unprecedented storm is sweeping across the Origin Sea. You must hurry and escape this stretch of the Storm Sea before it spirals out of control. Friendly reminder: the black fog's speed will increase to 15 knots. If you're too slow, you might die!]
After reading it, Yang Yi frowned deeply.
"I've wasted two days. I have to hurry and set off."
He began looking for the Nightmare.
By now, most of the island had been submerged, leaving less than a kilometer of land across.
At the island's former edge, only a few treetops still protruded above the surface. The water was probably about ten meters deep.
He spotted the Nightmare to his left. Fortunately, the wind had not blown it away. He wondered whether that was because its sails were tattered strips of cloth.
As for the distance, it was several hundred meters from the nearest land, probably less than a kilometer.
At sea, that was a long distance, especially for a land-dwelling creature.
Yang Yi was no strong swimmer. He had merely learned to swim as a child. Swimming a few dozen meters was still within his abilities.
But asking him to push himself and swim several hundred meters was rather too much!
Besides, the seawater was turbulent, and there might even be undercurrents below.
At a loss, he saw Su Na stuff a piece of the Siren's corpse into her belly.
"Huh?"
Yang Yi looked closely.
Only then did he notice a black pouch attached to Su Na's belly beneath her clothes.
"Is... is that a spatial bag?"
Yang Yi had not expected her to possess such a rare item.
[Name: Witch's Personal Treasure Bag] [Type: treasure] [Quality: fine] [Description: it can attach to any part of your body and cannot be stolen. It provides one cubic meter of storage space, but cannot store living things. A proper witch must first have a treasure bag of her own!]
Yang Yi immediately had an idea and walked toward Su Na.
