Forming an alliance

Lei Jialie and his wife returned to the Amethyst Alliance first and summoned all the Midgods within the Alliance.

Once everyone had arrived, Lei Jialie spoke directly. "Just now, a Highgod from another continent tried to occupy our Amethyst Continent. I killed him beside the teleportation array, and I now have a Highgod Fire Godhead." After a brief silence, Lei Jialie continued.

"I intend to choose one of the Alliance's Midgods to refine the Divine Spark and reach the Highgod level as soon as possible. Sari Lang, you led the men guarding the teleportation array and did not back down even against a Highgod. You also happen to be a fire Midgod, so this Divine Spark will be your reward." With a wave of his hand, Lei Jialie sent the Highgod Divine Spark before Elder Sari Lang.

"Thank you, Chief! I, Sari Lang, will not betray your trust. I will continue fighting for the Alliance in every direction!"

"All right, there is no need to say more. Go back and refine the Divine Spark as soon as possible. Reach the Highgod level first; I have another task for you afterward. The rest of you need not overthink this either. I will not be stingy with rewards for those who render meritorious service to the Alliance. That will be all for today. Sari Lang, arrange for a team of Midgods to continue guarding the teleportation array."

Lei Jialie then told Rhodes about his battle with the Demon Alliance's Highgod. A Highgod no weaker than himself had still submitted to the Demon King. This was truly hard to imagine!

Although the Amethyst Alliance was now in some danger, Rhodes felt that the four of them were not necessarily incapable of fighting the Demon King. Not much time had passed since the world had been created. Such an absurdly powerful figure could not possibly have appeared.

Previously, they had only heard about the force that dominated the entire center of the Infernal Realm. They had never really had a concrete impression of it.

But after this battle, who would dare underestimate the Demon Alliance? Only Lei Jialie and his wife of the Amethyst Alliance could have managed it. What ordinary alliance could have prevented this Highgod named Aosijiade from escaping?

If they could not stop him from escaping, his next visit would mark the destruction of their own force.

They would seek help on other continents. If one alliance could not defeat the Demon King, surely eight or ten could kill him?

After their discussion, Lei Jialie sent people back to the Alliance with orders to abandon the continent and withdraw all their forces to defend the Amethyst Mountains.

Year after year passed, and the outskirts of the Amethyst Mountains grew increasingly lively. There were countless Lowgods and more and more Midgods. At a glance, there had to be around eight or nine hundred Midgods.

One could only marvel at how much the Material Planes contributed, constantly supplying fresh blood to the Infernal Realm. And this was with only one teleportation array in their possession. Without the Demon Alliance's invasion, the Amethyst Alliance would have been even stronger by now.

The Amethyst Continent was also somewhat chaotic. There were more and more deities, while the Amethyst Alliance's deities remained holed up in the Amethyst Mountains. With the tiger gone from the mountain, the monkeys crowned themselves kings. Many Midgods who had teleported in from the Material Planes established an increasing number of small factions.

Over those thirty years, Lei Jialie sent out quite a few people. Some were unlucky and were killed as soon as they teleported out. Others successfully met the leaders of other forces, but since those forces had never been invaded by the Demon Alliance, they naturally would not ally with his side.

In the end, only three forces that had withstood the Demon Alliance's first wave of attacks were interested in discussing an alliance with Lei Jialie.

After negotiations between the four parties, they finally agreed to meet in the Amethyst Mountains twenty years later to discuss the matter. After all, the other forces had merely repelled attacks by the Demon Alliance's Highgods, whereas Lei Jialie had killed one. Thus, the outermost edge of the Amethyst Mountains was chosen as the final meeting place.

The agreed twenty years passed in the blink of an eye.

Those twenty years were turbulent as well. What had originally been a meeting of four parties became a seven-party alliance. Of the original four allied forces, one was ambushed by four Highgods roughly ten years into that period, and the entire force was slaughtered.

Four other forces also took the initiative to contact Lei Jialie, seeking an alliance. Over those twenty years, the Demon Alliance fought far and wide, occupying half the continents in the Infernal Realm. Its forces expanded extremely rapidly, and its Highgods, originally numbering in the single digits, now exceeded ten.

The Amethyst Alliance had also been attacked by the Demon Alliance's Highgods, but Rhodes and the other three had repelled them. It was not that they could not have killed one or two Highgods at the time. Their main concern was that killing them would draw out the even fiercer Demon King, whom the four of them might not be able to withstand.

The next time the Demon Alliance sent people, there would certainly be more Highgods.

Today, pillars of teleportation light flashed continuously within the teleportation array some one hundred thousand li from the Amethyst Alliance. None of the dozens of arrivals had an aura weaker than a Midgod's.

Looking at their leaders, all had the bearing of Highgods. After all, the guards at the teleportation array were Midgods of the Amethyst Alliance. Anyone whose strength a Midgod could not discern was most likely a Highgod.

Wave after wave of deities teleported in, six groups in all, each led by a Highgod.

The six men at the front exchanged glances, understanding that these were the people with whom they would form an alliance. Feeling that no one else would be teleporting in, the several hundred people headed toward the Amethyst Alliance's headquarters together.

In the city on the outskirts of the Amethyst Mountains, Lei Jialie, Rhodes, and the others received word and went out together to wait beyond the city gates. After all, these were all leaders of their own forces, and after today, they would temporarily be on the same side. They still had to show them this much courtesy.

Lei Jialie looked at Rhodes. "Why do you look so worried today?"

"I don't know why, but I keep feeling that something major is going to happen today. I feel a little uneasy!" Rhodes said.
