Demon King

As the Highgods from the various factions landed, the Midgods following behind them all landed as well.

"Haha, welcome to our Amethyst Alliance, everyone. My wife and I are deeply honored. Shall we enter the city first and discuss the alliance in detail?" Lei Jialie sounded as though he were asking, but the meaning behind his tone was unmistakable.

After all, no one wanted to be beneath anyone else.

The six looked displeased, but for the sake of fighting the Demon King, they restrained themselves. Whoever took the upper hand now would have to stand at the very front when they faced the Demon King.

At that thought, their expressions eased a little. They all nodded without saying much and followed Lei Jialie and the others toward the city.

"Sari Lang, once you've settled the Midgods from the other alliances, come to the hall for the discussion too."

"Yes, leader," Sari Lang replied respectfully, turning to look at the four hundred-odd Midgods behind him.

Seeing that their own leaders had said little, the four hundred-odd Midgods followed the Highgod named Sari Lang toward another part of the city.

In a vast residence at the very center of the city, they took their seats.

When the six saw Rhodes and Pash sit down as well, their brows furrowed even more deeply.

A burly man spoke up. "Lei Jialie, what is the meaning of this? What right do Midgods have to sit alongside us? We haven't even formed an alliance yet, and you already want to put yourself above us. Don't you think that's going a little too far?"

The others said nothing, but all unleashed their auras, sending them surging toward Lei Jialie, Rhodes, Pash, and the others. Rhodes and Pash bore the brunt of the pressure.

Pash immediately unleashed his own aura. Though he was a Midgod, his aura was barely any weaker than those of the six.

As for Rhodes, ever since leaving his Heavenly Thunder Mountain, he had never intended to feign weakness to catch anyone off guard. With the aid of Willpower, his tremendously surging aura broke straight through the blockade of the six auras and began pressing back against them.

Only then did the burly man realize he had been careless. He had never expected someone whose presence marked him as a Midgod to possess an aura no weaker than his own.

"Could this man also be a Highgod, one who conceals his presence?"

Feeling as though he had seen through something, he took the initiative to withdraw his aura and cupped his hands toward Rhodes.

Rhodes and Pash said nothing more either, withdrawing their own auras.

After all, their good brother Lei Jialie had arranged this gathering. They could not truly wreck it; a little intimidation was enough.

The various factions took their seats, and Lei Jialie wasted no more time, going straight to the point.

"Everyone, the Demon Alliance has grown increasingly overbearing in recent years, occupying more and more continents in the Infernal Realm. The Declan Family, who were supposed to come here, have already been slaughtered to the last by the Demon Alliance. We cannot wait any longer. After all, a thief can keep plotting for a thousand days, but no one can guard against thieves for a thousand days. We need to gather every bit of strength we have and go to the Central Continent to face the Demon King."

The Highgods present showed little change in expression. After all, they had discussed this matter before; they simply had not expected Lei Jialie to be so direct from the outset.

After a brief pause, Lei Jialie continued, "We need to gather the forces at everyone's disposal as soon as possible and prepare for a fight to the death against the Demon Alliance. The Demon Alliance is behaving more and more outrageously now. Anyone who dares defy them must die. Think about it, everyone!"

The atmosphere in the conference room grew increasingly heavy. After all, once they agreed to Lei Jialie's proposal, they would be constrained by the Amethyst Alliance until they defeated the Demon King. They might not have to obey every command, but they would no longer be as free as before.

Before coming, they had already acknowledged that the couple leading the Amethyst Alliance were stronger than they were, so they had unconsciously been at a disadvantage during the negotiations from the start.

Now, faced with this question, none of them wanted to be the first to voice their agreement.

Lei Jialie and his wife were in no hurry, and Rhodes and Pash were in even less of one. The two of them had stayed purely to help Lei Jialie and Zijing. Rhodes also wanted to face the Demon King, the current strongest figure in the Infernal Realm.

As for the Amethyst Alliance? Neither of them thought much of it. As Rhodes had said before, as long as he and Pash were alive, the two of them alone constituted one of the foremost powers in the Infernal Realm.

Rhodes was even less concerned about Heavenly Thunder Mountain's safety. Things had been manageable while the Thunder Crystal remained in the Thunder Region, but after Rhodes took it out, the power of the lightning strikes throughout the Thunder Region had increased far more than tenfold. Ordinary people might not even be able to force their way inside.

As for the force he had established before, as more and more Deities appeared in the Infernal Realm in the future, he could gather another group at any time, provided he was strong enough.

After all, Di'ers and the others had never appeared in the original story. Wouldn't it be better to seek out a few future Sovereigns and befriend them? Even if he did not befriend future Sovereigns, wouldn't it be good to befriend a few Paragons who had appeared in the original story, if the opportunity arose?

Yes, everyone liked noble, righteous protagonists, protagonists who never gave up and could keep their friends, relatives, forces, and companions safe. But after honestly searching his own heart, Rhodes admitted that he truly could not do it.

That might have been manageable in his former society, but now he was in the Coiling Dragon Universe. If he still refused to change, wouldn't he be courting death?

So Rhodes had no intention of returning to his home base for the time being. He would return only when his strength could improve no further. If Di'ers was still guarding his home for him then, he would not mind helping him in the future.

If Di'ers unfortunately died or betrayed him, then death would be the end of it. If he betrayed him, Rhodes would simply kill him and find a few more obedient people.

Although Rhodes and Pash were both in the conference room, neither took the matter to heart. One had drifted off, thinking about who knew what, while the other was considering what pose to strike when the next battle came. To outsiders, both seemed utterly lost in their own worlds, which was infuriating.

Most of the day passed before they finally reached an agreement. All the factions would first have their subordinates teleport to the vicinity of the Amethyst Mountains, then teleport together to the Central Mainland. As for the location of the Fiend Castle, the major alliances had not been idle all these years; they had long since sent people to ascertain it.

With the negotiations settled, they prepared to send word back to their respective forces, gathering all their Deities in preparation for a counterattack against the Demon Alliance.

The leaders of the major factions swore together before the Overgods that, until the Demon King was eliminated, they would not kill one another and would spare no effort in helping each other fight the Demon Alliance.

Now that the alliance was confirmed, none of them intended to return. They had already gathered all their Deities and had them waiting. All they needed to do now was send word back and have all their Midgods and Lowgods teleport over.

They could assemble all the Deities within a day, then teleport together to the Central Mainland.

Just after they finished their oaths, everyone present sensed numerous Deity presences approaching the Amethyst Alliance.

Within the range of their divine senses, the number of Highgods alone was no fewer than the number of Deities seated there. Lei Jialie, the burly man, and the others all paled.

The Demon King is here. The thought immediately surfaced in their minds. Otherwise, no faction in the Infernal Realm could currently field so many Highgods.

As for the Midgods behind them, their senses revealed no fewer than three thousand. There was no need even to count the Lowgods-their ranks blotted out the sky.

They all immediately sent voice transmissions to the Midgods who had accompanied them: "Notify every Deity in the alliance or family to teleport to the Amethyst Continent through the teleportation arrays. Kill any Demon Alliance member you see wearing a demon medallion on sight!!!"

PS: I'll be driving back on the highway on the seventh, so this may be the only chapter. If it's still early when I get back tonight, I'll write another one. Thanks to everyone who voted, and thanks for your support if you have votes to give. Feel free to bookmark and invest.
