Soul Mutation

Ahead of all the deities, a castle that seemed to be made of some unknown metal flew at the very front. Seeing the enormous one-eyed demon statue atop it, everyone understood that the master of the Demon Alliance, the Demon King, had arrived.

Lei Jialie felt fortunate. Had the alliance meeting been delayed another two days, the Amethyst Alliance might have ceased to exist. The other six wore much uglier expressions. They had never expected the Demon King to come attacking less than a day after they formed their alliance. What a coincidence.

As the number of deities behind Lei Jialie continued to grow, the Demon King's forces drew ever closer to the city.

A great battle was about to erupt!!!

As the distance closed, Rhodes could not help frowning. The Demon King's aura did not feel particularly powerful, seemingly not much different from Lei Jialie, who had fused three Profound Mysteries of Earth. How could he command so many Highgods?

Where exactly is the problem? A powerful innate divine ability? That doesn't seem realistic either. Innate divine abilities consume soul power and can't be sustained. Rhodes could not quite figure it out.

"Lei Jialie, I admire you and your wife a great deal. I sent people to recruit you many times before. Why do you insist on seeking death?" The voice that came from the Demon King's mouth took everyone by surprise.

The factions that had just allied with the Amethyst Alliance were even more shocked. It turned out that Lei Jialie and his people had not only killed Highgods of the Demon Alliance but had also repeatedly rejected the Demon King's attempts to recruit them.

Without waiting for Lei Jialie to reply, the Demon King continued, "I gave you opportunities before, and you failed to seize them. Don't say I'm not giving you a chance now. Tuoleitia, take your men and kill every deity in the Amethyst Alliance. I'll handle Lei Jialie."

"Yes! Everyone, kill them!" a middle-aged Highgod behind the Demon King answered, immediately ordering the attack.

The Demon King himself simply watched the nine Highgods, Lei Jialie among them. It seemed he intended to deal with all nine himself. Naturally, he ignored Rhodes and Pash standing nearby. Two Midgods were beneath his notice.

After issuing orders to his subordinates, the Demon King was in no hurry to act. He simply watched Lei Jialie and his wife in silence, paying no mind to the other Highgods. What he valued most was the pair's innate divine abilities. Though their offensive power against individual targets was weak, their supporting effects were beyond question.

In the current Infernal Realm, there was practically no one who could remain completely unaffected by the innate divine abilities of Lei Jialie and his wife.

That was also why the Demon King had come in person. Without him, no one could stop the two from escaping.

Since they won't serve him, they must naturally be put to death!

"We can't stand by and let the Demon King's subordinates keep slaughtering our people. Get ready. Zijing and I will restrain the Demon King. We'll leave the attacks to you!" Lei Jialie said telepathically, activating his innate divine ability, Amethyst Space, at once.

Lei Jialie and Zijing immediately unleashed their fused divine ability. They had no intention of holding anything back from the start, fearing that if they did so against the Demon King, they might never get another chance to use it.

All the Highgods struck at once. Seven physical attacks of equal power hit the Demon King directly. An incomparably brilliant burst of light erupted in the sky, filled with highgod power of Destruction, Earth, Fire, and other elements.

After the attacks, they looked into the Amethyst Space. A figure had already walked from its very center to its outermost edge.

That figure was the Demon King, completely unscathed, as though he had never been attacked.

Most astonishing of all, the Demon King seemed entirely unaffected by the Amethyst Space's gravity.

The next second, the Demon King walked out of the Amethyst Space.

His figure flashed, appearing before a Highgod. One simple punch, and the Highgod-dead.

Rhodes, who had been watching from the sidelines, noticed something different. He could not understand how the Demon King had just walked out of the Amethyst Space, but the divine power the Demon King used when attacking belonged to none of the elements. That instead reminded Rhodes of the awe-inspiring, envy-inducing soul mutation from the original story.

Soul mutation, the standard equipment of transmigrators!!!

At that thought, Rhodes's eyes reddened. Looking at the Demon King, he thought, This guy is more like the protagonist than I am. He clearly never appeared in the original story. At most, a Fiend Castle survived him. But at the dawn of the world, even the future Sovereign of Destruction probably wouldn't dare claim he could defeat the Demon King!

Highgods died one after another, and in the blink of an eye, only four remained. Aside from Lei Jialie and his wife, the other two Highgods had already lost their will to fight. Seeing this, they turned and fled.

Rhodes answered directly, without the slightest fear. As for Pash, the Demon King paid him no attention and could not even be bothered to ask his name. Pash's eyes grew red as a result, becoming redder and redder, just like his hair.

"Enough. All of you can die now! Time-wasting ants!!!"

Destruction divine power and death divine power surged out of the Demon King. Finally, the two streams of divine power, one gray and one black, fused into a color darker than destruction divine power, their power increasing tenfold.

The Demon King did not stop after completing the fusion of his divine power. Two different Profound Mysteries began to fuse as well. He had made up his mind to annihilate the Amethyst Alliance and intimidate the other top powers in the Infernal Realm.

Why was the Demon King so enthusiastic about ruling? Previously, the Infernal Realm's population had been relatively small, and the effects had not been apparent. Ever since the teleportation arrays were built, more and more beings from Material Planes had arrived in the Infernal Realm.

As the population under his rule grew, the Demon King discovered that the more people he ruled, the faster he cultivated. Though he did not know the principle behind it, that did not stop him from conquering more continents and ruling more beings.

Had Rhodes known about this, he would certainly have shouted, "This guy is definitely the protagonist right now, no question! Soul mutation, and he even accidentally discovered the effects of the power of faith. If he isn't the protagonist, who is?"

Unfortunately, Rhodes knew nothing of this.

When the unknown divine power appeared earlier, the four had not sensed the aura of death. But now, looking at the Demon King again, waves of deathly aura coiled around their hearts.
