His willingness to operate on opposing sides of the same war makes factional loyalty secondary to his own plans 2 4 36 51.

His behavior with Qian Renxue is markedly more vulnerable. He calls her his first friend, admits his indecision about revealing the truth, and resorts to tears and childish pleading when afraid of losing her affection.
