Background / History
Previous Life and Childhood
Tang San was an orphan raised in the Tang Sect in his previous life. After reincarnating, he retained its cultivation methods and concealed both those memories and their origin. In Holy Soul Village, he lived with Tang Hao in a blacksmith shop, practiced Mysterious Heaven Skill in secret, and handled his father’s daily needs despite receiving little care himself 20 21.
Unknown to him, Cheng Ran had already begun depriving him of opportunities associated with his future. Acting through Qian Renxue, Cheng Ran harvested the immortal herbs in Sunset Forest and suggested an entrance sign barring Tang San and dogs 10 12.
The False Tang Sect
Qian Daoliu approached Tang Hao under the identity of a Tang Sect disciplinary elder. The scheme used the theft of Ah Yin’s true body and a threat to refine her into medicine to pressure Tang San into surrendering the sect’s secret techniques 19 20.
Tang Hao confronted and struck his son, then began suspecting that an Evil Soul Master had possessed him. Unable to reveal his reincarnation, Tang San claimed to have found and burned a manual. He subsequently wrote all six Tang Sect Secret Arts from memory 20.
Tang Hao then told him about Ah Yin’s identity, sacrifice, and conflict with Spirit Hall. Although father and son embraced after Tang Hao apologized for his neglect, neither fully trusted the other: Tang Hao still questioned the techniques’ origin, while Tang San struggled to explain the apparent existence of a Tang Sect in this world 21 22.
At the cave meeting, Tang San displayed both martial souls to prove his eligibility for the supposed sect. Cheng Ran, posing as Elder Tang Laoya, offered possible admission and promised an answer within ten days. Tang San accepted the story that earlier Tang Sect transmigrators had founded a powerful organization in the Far North 25 26.
The promised reply never came. After two months, Tang Hao sent Tang San to Nuoding City and declared his intention to investigate the Far North himself 35 40 41.
Nuoding Academy
Tang San entered Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy as a work-study student. After Yu Xiaogang deduced his twin martial souls from his awakening certificate, Tang San formally became his disciple 45 46.
At the academy, he discovered that Qian Renxue’s widely distributed Angel Sacred Guidance Skill used the same circulation route as Mysterious Heaven Skill. Rather than recognize the deception immediately, he imagined that Spirit Hall had ambushed Elder Tang Laoya and seized the techniques 46.
During his first soul-ring hunt, Tang San killed a Mandala Snake using hidden-weapon throws, evasive footwork, a short sword, and a Sleeve Arrow. His abilities and momentarily threatening gaze frightened Yu Xiaogang, who concealed his suspicions behind praise for Tang San’s supposed luck 52.
Memories of Another Space-Time
A disturbance carrying the laws of time and space struck Tang San’s consciousness while he meditated. He received fragmented memories of another version of himself who became a hero, loved Xiao Wu, and attained dual godhood 71.
Comparing those memories with his current life exposed the false Tang Sect. He realized that the sect should only have been founded by his future self and that Tang Laoya’s demand for a written copy of the techniques had been the real purpose of the encounter. He identified Qian Renxue as the beneficiary, but incorrectly concluded that she, too, had obtained future memories 71.
He then led Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, hoping to recover the immortal herbs he remembered. The herbs were gone, and the sign excluding him remained at the entrance 73 74.
Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect
Seeking resources beyond Nuoding Academy’s means, Tang San completed the Godly Zhuge Crossbow ahead of the schedule shown in his parallel memories. Through Yu Xiaogang, he approached Ning Fengzhi and proposed exchanging hidden-weapon technology for a share of the proceeds, with the sect supplying materials, craftsmen, and connections 81.
Tang San accepted a connection with Ning Rongrong, privately reasoning that her backing and resources would help him avenge Xiao Wu, whom he then feared dead. Under the sect’s patronage, he advanced rapidly and eventually led a dedicated Soul Tool research-and-development workshop 82 90 93.
Ning Fengzhi later informed him that Qian Renxue had killed Tang Hao. Tang San spent that night alone on a cliff, increasingly viewing Qian Renxue as the person responsible for destroying the family and future promised by his memories 93.
Xiao Wu and the Heaven Dou Court
At Spirit Hall, Tang San discovered that Xiao Wu was alive. He approached her as someone intimately familiar with her, but she did not recognize him and rejected his claims. Dugu Yan defended her with the Eight Spider Lances—another weapon Tang San remembered possessing himself 104.
Afterward, he told Ning Rongrong that he regarded her as a younger sister and loved Xiao Wu. Rongrong challenged his claim to love someone he had barely spoken to in this life and ended their relationship angrily 110.
Tang San also sought access to the Heaven Dou Empire’s Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud to improve his prospects in the Sea God’s trials. He arranged a visit through Ning Fengzhi and privately told Xue Ye that Qian Renxue had replaced Xue Qinghe, hoping the revelation would make him an imperial ally 110 112.
Sea God Inheritance
Tang San completed the Sea God Nine Trials. His final trial included an illusion in which Xiao Wu protected Qian Renxue; he killed the illusory Xiao Wu and absorbed her Soul Bone before inheriting the godhood 117.
He initially intended to seek revenge immediately. The Sea God’s divine sense instead showed him Qian Renxue’s overwhelming advantages, including her immense faith, the Auspicious Beast’s fortune, and possession of the Asura Holy Sword. Tang San postponed his attack and concentrated on perfecting his divine skills 117 119.
Final Battle and Death
When the five-year nonaggression promise made to the Sea God expired, Qian Renxue came to Sea God Island. Tang San had independently decided to attack Spirit Hall, confident in his refined techniques and combat experience 119.
Despite combining Ring Detonation, ocean-based recovery, water manifestations, and his Sea God’s Realm, Tang San could not overcome her. Qian Renxue dispelled his realm and destroyed his final manifestation with the Sun God Sword, shattering his armor, trident, and godhood 119 120.
Thrown onto Sea God Island’s beach, he appealed to Xiao Wu as his destined lover. She rejected him again and kicked him in the chest before leaving with Dugu Yan. Tang San died on the beach, still unable to accept the difference between his memories and his actual life 120.
Appearance
- Build and features: Slender, with refined features and eyes described as particularly deep in candlelight during his meeting with Xue Ye 112.
- Early clothing: Wears coarse and increasingly tattered robes while waiting for Tang Laoya’s return 35.
- Cultivation signs: Purple light appears in his eyes when using Purple Demon Eye; Mysterious Jade Hand gives his fingers a jade sheen 52 81.
- Divine appearance: After inheriting the Sea God position, blue-gold light flows over his body, a trident shape appears in his pupils, and Sea God Divine Armor covers him 117 119.
Personality
Tang San carefully separates his outward behavior from his private thoughts. He presents himself as an obedient child, respectful disciple, or modest inventor while concealing reincarnation, combat skills, and calculated motives. After the Mandala Snake battle, he immediately accepts Yu Xiaogang’s explanation that his victory was merely luck 22 52 81.
His confidence in his intelligence often becomes a source of error. He repeatedly constructs explanations that preserve his preferred assumptions: first accepting the Far North Tang Sect as an organization founded by transmigrators, then imagining Spirit Hall had ambushed its elder. Only the arrival of parallel memories makes him reconsider the original deception 22 26 46 71.
He is persistent, technically inventive, and willing to endure intensive work for an advantage. When cultivation alone cannot resolve his predicament, he skips classes and works day and night to finish the Godly Zhuge Crossbow ahead of its remembered schedule 81.
His attachment to the alternate future also produces possessiveness. He regards Xiao Wu, the immortal herbs, the Eight Spider Lances, and recognition for Mysterious Heaven Skill as things that should belong to him. Even after acknowledging that Xiao Wu has no shared history with him in this life, he continues to frame Qian Renxue as having taken his wife 55 74 104 117 119.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, which he can manifest simultaneously 25.
- Blue Silver heritage: Inherits his plant martial soul from Ah Yin and later awakens the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 21 93.
- Spore Parasitism: His second soul skill, obtained from a Zombie Mushroom King over fifteen hundred years old. It parasitizes living targets more covertly than the Ghost Vine alternative and can temporarily turn recently deceased corpses into zombie puppets 90.
- Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer: Masters all eighty-one strikes; the final sequence generates a black tornado and plows furrows through the training ground 92.
- Ring Detonation: Explodes soul rings to empower the Clear Sky Hammer through the Great Sumeru Hammer mysteries 119.
- Sea God Clear Sky Art: His own fusion of Ring Detonation and Sea God divine power 119.
Tang Sect Secret Arts
Tang San retains all six secret arts from his previous life and reproduces them from memory under Tang Hao’s coercion 20.
| Art | Function and documented use |
|---|---|
| Mysterious Heaven Skill | Internal cultivation method for guiding and strengthening Soul Power circulation. Tang San practices it secretly and reaches its second stage 20 23 55. |
| Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track | Evasive movement technique used to avoid the Mandala Snake and retreat after stabbing it 20 52. |
| Mysterious Jade Hand | Hand-training method. Reaches its second stage during his early weapon-making work; later blocks a flying stone with it 20 81 93. |
| Purple Demon Eye | Eye-training method used to detect the Mandala Snake in the bushes and support his attack 20 52. |
| Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon | Grappling method included in the six arts he writes out 20. |
| Hidden Weapons: Hundred Solutions | Hidden-weapon usage method. His precision throws repeatedly delay the pursuing Mandala Snake 20 52. |
Hidden-Weapon Engineering
Tang San recreates sophisticated mechanical weapons using knowledge retained from the Tang Sect and his parallel memories 81.
- Completes the Godly Zhuge Crossbow before rank 30, earlier than its development in the remembered timeline 81.
- Adds concealed catches that destroy the crossbow’s components if someone attempts to dismantle it 81.
- Develops additional weapons, including the Flying God Claw, and becomes the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s research-and-development leader 90 93.
- Uses weapon technology as bargaining power to obtain cultivation resources and institutional support 81 82.
Parallel-Space-Time Memories
Tang San receives memories of another version of his life through a time-and-space disturbance 71.
- Gains knowledge of opportunities, people, future events, and an alternate path to dual godhood 71 73 104.
- Uses remembered geography to navigate directly to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 74.
- Cannot rely on those memories as a fixed future: herbs and equipment have already changed hands, and Xiao Wu has never formed the relationship he remembers 74 104 117.
Sea God Divine Abilities
After completing the nine trials, Tang San converts his Soul Power into divine power and gains command over ocean-based techniques 117.
| Ability | Effect / Limitation |
|---|---|
| Sea God, Devour | Absorbs residual sword energy, Solar Divine Flame, and power of faith, converting them into Soul Power to replenish himself 119. |
| Endless Azure | Fully unfolds the Sea God Domain, raising water pillars into an enormous prison 119. |
| Dragon of Taiyin True Water | Summons a water dragon after he offers blood essence to the Sea God Trident 119 120. |
| Sea God’s Dusk | The strongest single-target divine skill he has comprehended; used in a surprise thrust at Qian Renxue’s back 120. |
| Water-element clone | Creates a body that disperses into water while his real body hides beneath the sea. It fails to evade Qian Renxue’s divine sense 120. |
| Golden Thirteen Halberds | Launches thirteen streaks of trident light, all shattered by Qian Renxue’s six-pointed-star defense 120. |
| Sea God’s Realm | Creates a small world of endless seawater intended to suppress Angel Divine Power. Qian Renxue dismantles it with Angel Dispelling 120. |
| Boundless Sea Without Trace | His final killing move: a water manifestation hundreds of meters tall, armed with a trident. Destroyed by the Sun God Sword 120. |
Equipment / Weapons / Items
