Fearing that Qian Daoliu or Bibi Dong might erase him, he presents himself as an all-knowing Evil God. He later tells her that a disciple named Han Feng and an Empress betrayed him, destroyed his body, and banished his soul. This is a story he tells Qian Renxue, rather than an established account of his Blue Star life. She nevertheless promises to help reconstruct his body if he helps her change her destiny 6.

Breaking with Bibi Dong

After experiencing Qian Renxue’s distress through their shared consciousness, Cheng Ran takes control during a confrontation in Pope Hall. He condemns her treatment, rejects the Infiltration Plan, and challenges the elders’ demands that she apologize. When Bibi Dong threatens her, he continues resisting until Qian Daoliu intervenes 3 4.

Cheng Ran then establishes a three-year challenge: Qian Renxue will defeat Bibi Dong and claim the right to sever their mother–daughter relationship herself. His subsequent lessons emphasize cultivation, self-respect, and refusing relationships that consume her without giving anything back 5 7 14 17.

Seizing Opportunities and Deceiving the Tang Family

Using his knowledge of valuable resources, Cheng Ran directs Qian Renxue to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, prepares Dugu Yan’s antidote, and guides Qian Renxue’s physical tempering and Martial Soul development. He also personally fights the Radiant Three-Headed Phoenix through her body, demonstrating how to exploit its unfavorable attribute matchup 9 10 11 12 15 16.

He next engineers the theft of the Blue Silver Emperor and its right leg bone, concealing the operation behind a fictitious Tang Sect. As “Tang Laoya,” he convinces Tang Hao and Tang San that a powerful Far North sect wants Tang San as a disciple. The deception helps secure the Tang Sect’s six supreme arts, which he and Qian Renxue adapt into Angel-themed techniques 19 23 26 27.

Slaughter City and the Divine Trials

In Slaughter City, Cheng Ran supplements Qian Renxue’s arena battles by controlling her body at night to hunt criminals. He kills Li Cang and the Blood Hand Gang to obtain Crystal Blood Dragon Ginseng, an ingredient Qian Renxue seeks for him 31 37 38.

After acquiring the Asura Holy Sword, he appoints four administrators to run the city. His plan is to attract outlaws with promises of refuge, earn money from their arrival, and provide Qian Renxue with further enemies to defeat. Hong Ji subsequently names the settlement Slaughter Paradise 62 64.

Cheng Ran also helps overcome divine trials through combat skill and unconventional solutions. He controls Qian Renxue during her Sixth Angel Trial, carries her through the Sea God’s Light on the Asura Holy Sword, and impersonates Bo Saixi to obtain Xiao Bai’s help crossing the Ring Sea 57 58 84 85.

Rebirth and Godhood

The Sea God’s Light eventually gives Cheng Ran an independent spiritual form. He then awakens the Gatling Bodhisattva and begins collecting its Soul Rings while continuing to cooperate with Qian Renxue through possession 97 100 102.

With Qian Renxue preserving and stabilizing Di Tian’s corpse, Cheng Ran finally obtains a living body. She introduces him to Spirit Hall’s elders as her resurrected friend, and the two formally exchange names and shake hands for the first time 118.

He later proposes a new Soul Spirit contract system between Soul Masters and Soul Beasts, intending to negotiate with the beasts using Di Tian’s identity. After Qian Renxue becomes a God King, Cheng Ran accepts the Asura God inheritance 121 122.

In the side story, his new godhood lets him sense a previously inaccessible “button” connected to Blue Star. He returns with Qian Renxue and begins introducing her to modern technology, while discovering that using powers there depletes his available soul power 125.

Despite his theatrical confidence as the “Evil God,” he privately considers himself socially anxious and leaves ordinary socializing to Qian Renxue 4 8 10 31.

His protectiveness toward Qian Renxue is paired with persistent teasing and manipulation. He encourages her to abandon her need for Bibi Dong’s approval, prioritize her own growth, and stop confusing emotional investment with a worthwhile relationship 3 7 14 17.

He is also ruthless and objectifying. He treats Slaughter City’s inhabitants as targets for experience, dismisses Liu Qingyi partly because of her appearance, and kills her when she continues pressing him to accept her. Qian Renxue herself recognizes his lechery, wickedness, and indifference to human life even as she acknowledges how consistently he has supported her 31 38 111.
