Life in the Star Dou Great Forest
Xiao Wu first appears in Aya’s arms near the forest’s core, where Da Ming and Er Ming are fighting. She immediately takes an interest in the newly arrived dragon Gu Shengge. Aya permits him to stay and encourages the two to spend time together 1 2.
During their early years together, Xiao Wu becomes inseparable from him. After learning his transformation art, she develops a romantic and cultivation partnership with him. Her later acquisition of speech and draconic features reveals that their cultivation has changed her species 3 4.
Aya nevertheless intends for Xiao Wu to wait until reaching one hundred thousand years before undergoing a true human transformation. That route would let her cultivate as a Soul Master and pursue Level 100 godhood, rather than endure the increasingly severe tribulations faced by Soul Beasts that retain their beast form 4.
Separation and Reunion
When Gu Shengge prepares to seek opportunities outside the forest, Xiao Wu insists on going with him. Aya persuades her to remain because her cultivation is still below one hundred thousand years and discovery by powerful human Soul Masters would endanger them 5.
Gu Shengge returns after only a few days away. Xiao Wu greets him tearfully and clings to him. To avoid another painful separation, he subsequently brings her into the Small World inside his body, allowing her to accompany his travels 7 8.
Cocooned Transformation
Inside the Small World, Xiao Wu takes Gu Shengge’s immortal-herb and Dragon King pills and becomes enclosed in a blood-colored cocoon. She remains asleep after three years, and Chapter 11 explicitly confirms that four years have passed without her awakening 8 11.
Ah Yin and later Xiao Bai also undergo transformations in the Small World. When Gu Shengge eventually visits Aya again, Aya understands that Xiao Wu is still asleep there; no completed evolution is shown 16 33.
