Background / History

Reincarnation and Forest Life

Gu Shengge awakens in the Star Dou Great Forest as a dragon hatchling. A system grants him the Ancestral Dragon Bloodline and God of Joy talent, then ends its service. Recognizing Xiao Wu, Da Ming, and Er Ming, he realizes that he has entered Douluo Continent before Xiao Wu’s human transformation 1.

Aya accepts him into their household, while Xiao Wu quickly becomes attached to him. He initially chooses to remain hidden and build his strength. His knowledge of the original story leads him to plan two major interventions: meeting Ah Yin before Tang Hao can become her partner, and preventing Bibi Dong’s future suffering 2 3.

Sunset Forest and Ah Yin

After leaving the forest, Gu Shengge collects the Immortal Herbs around the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and refines them into pills. Beneath the well, he discovers the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ remains, dragon pearls, and blood pool. Their energy carries him beyond three hundred thousand years of cultivation 5 6 7.

Rather than search blindly for Ah Yin, he waits outside the Clear Sky Sect and follows Tang Hao and Tang Xiao when they begin traveling. He earns their friendship by helping defeat bandits, then accompanies them for over a year. Upon detecting Ah Yin under attack, he intervenes and kills her attackers 7 8.

Ah Yin becomes his partner, while Tang Hao struggles with his own feelings for her. When the brothers depart, Gu Shengge accepts Tang Hao’s confession without openly blaming him. He subsequently reveals his dragon identity to Ah Yin and gives her pills that place her in a cocooned evolution 9 10 11.

Sea God Island and the Far North

Gu Shengge obtains the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud after deciding to reserve the Sea God inheritance for Ah Yin. He also presents himself to Emperor Xue Ye as the God of Joy 11 12.

On Sea God Island, he forcibly converts Bo Saixi into his first believer. Poseidon responds by sending a phantom, which Gu Shengge devours. Sea Witch and Xiao Bai later become believers willingly 13 14 16 17.

In the Far North, he discovers the Snow Empress in Spirit Embryo form and becomes involved in her transformation. He subsequently helps the Ice Empress evolve and guides both women to Leng Qinghan’s hidden inheritance palace. After passing the million-year threshold, he returns to Sea God Island and helps Bo Saixi reach Level 100 godhood 17 18 20 21 23 25.

Spirit Hall and Yu Xiaogang

Gu Shengge deliberately arranges an encounter with Bibi Dong in Spirit City. At her urging, he accepts Qian Xunji’s invitation to join Spirit Hall and undergoes a martial-soul awakening. His triple martial souls and displayed rank-thirty innate soul power earn him the position of Divine Son; Qian Daoliu then accepts him as a disciple 26 28 29 30.

Qian Xunji proposes a future marriage between Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong, and Gu Shengge agrees. He supplies pills that transform her martial souls and later teaches her close-combat and killing techniques 30 31 35 38 41.

When Yu Xiaogang arrives seeking access to Spirit Hall’s knowledge, Gu Shengge identifies his interest in using Bibi Dong to reach the library. He publicly mocks Yu Xiaogang’s cultivation bottleneck, then confronts him again when he returns claiming their meeting is a coincidence 41 42 43.

Appearance

Gu Shengge’s human appearance is exceptionally handsome, with a distinctive, captivating presence repeatedly noticed by Ah Yin, Bo Saixi, Bibi Dong, and even Yu Xiaogang 9 14 26 42.

• Dragon form: A Five-clawed Golden Dragon with glittering golden scales and an imposing, sacred bearing; reaches a thousand meters in length during his first combined tribulation 7 25.
• Dragon eyes: His eyes become golden dragon eyes after absorbing the Dragon Kings’ power 7.

Personality

Gu Shengge is pleasure-seeking, flirtatious, and openly unwilling to restrict himself to a single romantic partner. He links his name to living without restraint and enjoying music and revelry every night. With Ah Yin, he explicitly acknowledges that she is neither his first partner nor his last, while promising not to abandon her 5 8 11.

He combines confidence with calculated patience. Before becoming overwhelmingly powerful, he remains in the forest rather than risk unnecessary exposure; later, he spends three years waiting for the Tang brothers because they provide his best route to Ah Yin 3 7 8.

His protectiveness coexists with manipulation and coercion. He plans to prevent the deaths of Aya, Da Ming, and Er Ming and to avert Bibi Dong’s tragedies, but forcibly converts Bo Saixi rather than court her patiently. Against Yu Xiaogang, he favors deliberate provocation and public humiliation 5 11 14 42.
