Background / History

The original Qian Chenming was Spirit Hall’s thirteenth pope and an important contributor to its rise. After a lifetime of warfare that exhausted him physically and mentally, he secured an enduring foundation for the organization in his later years. He was Qian Daoliu’s father, Qian Xunji’s grandfather, and Qian Renxue’s great-grandfather 1.

Lin Ci, a reader dissatisfied with the Qian Family’s decisions in Douluo Continent, encountered a phone prompt offering to resurrect one of three deceased characters. He selected Qian Chenming and demanded all three offered enhancement packages. A Dayun truck then crashed into his home, killing him; he awakened inside Qian Chenming’s grave with the former pope’s body, memories, and enhanced abilities 1.

To explain his return to his descendants, Qian Chenming claimed that he had been trapped in a place with a different flow of time, could observe the mortal world, and had escaped with the Angel God’s assistance. This account differs from the transmigration shown at the beginning of the story 1 5.

Appearance

• Youthful face: Handsome, with sharp contours and a smooth chin; after resurrection, he looks younger than Qian Daoliu 1 2.

Personality

Qian Chenming places Spirit Hall’s strength, prestige, and institutional loyalty above personal attachments. He treats its funding of awakenings as recruitment rather than unconditional charity and demands that beneficiaries either support the organization or pay for its services 13 32.

He advocates strength displayed openly, condemning Bibi Dong’s planned assassination of Tang San and the use of Qian Renxue as an undercover prince. Nevertheless, he also employs deception when useful: he orders a token search for Xue Qinghe and arranges military preparations behind a diplomatic journey 8 16 33 34.

His composed public manner contrasts with his relentless impatience toward Qian Daoliu, whom he scolds, kicks, and repeatedly orders to kneel. He can also acknowledge personal bonds: he permits both Hu Liena and Qian Renxue to visit Bibi Dong, and tells Qian Renxue that her future remains her own decision 4 13 15 21.

• He states that Tang Hao’s nine-ring detonation would have warranted caution at the beginning of their battle; by the time Tang Hao uses it, his hammer is already damaged 28.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Return and Recognition

After leaving his grave, Qian Chenming occupies Qian Daoliu’s seat in the Worship Hall. Qian Daoliu initially believes him to be an impostor or supernatural threat and gathers the other enshrined elders against him. Qian Chenming demonstrates his superior angelic powers, then resolves the confrontation through memories known only to father and son 1 2 3 4.

He immediately challenges Qian Daoliu’s withdrawal from Spirit Hall’s governance. He blames his son for failing to restrain either Qian Xunji or Bibi Dong before their actions became disastrous and orders him to remain kneeling 5 6.

Deposition of Bibi Dong

Accompanied by the Six Great Enshrined, Qian Chenming enters the Pope’s Palace after overhearing Bibi Dong’s order to assassinate Tang San. He condemns the scheme and questions her about Qian Xunji’s death 7 8.

His divine light reveals the murder, and Bibi Dong admits killing Qian Xunji. Qian Chenming declares her guilty, imprisons her, and moves into the Pope’s Palace without a coronation ceremony. Spirit Hall’s elders pledge loyalty, while Salas receives responsibility for continuing the tournament finals 10 12.

Qian Renxue’s Future

Qian Chenming rejects the argument that Qian Renxue’s infiltration of Heaven Dou justifies concealing her identity and sacrificing her development. He orders Qian Daoliu to arrange a meeting with her 16.

Their conversation prompts Qian Renxue to recognize that her decision to become a spy was driven partly by a desire to prove herself to Bibi Dong. Rather than forcibly decide for her, Qian Chenming tells her to think carefully and choose her own future 21.

Tournament Finals and Xiao Wu’s Capture

Qian Chenming attends the finals, calls for competition decided by ability, and offers three ten-thousand-year soul bones as the championship prize 18 22.

After curing the poisoned Spirit Hall contestants, he acknowledges their defeat and awards Shrek the prizes. He also orders the Golden Generation sent to Death Canyon, declaring that only those who emerge will become Spirit Hall’s future pillars 23.

When Xiao Wu’s Lovesick Heartbreak Red falls from her clothing, her soul-beast aura becomes detectable. Qian Chenming reveals her identity, revokes Shrek’s championship, awards the title to Spirit Hall Academy, and refuses to let her leave. Spirit Hall subsequently takes her into custody 24 30.

Defeat of Tang Hao

Qian Chenming traps Tang Hao in his domain, withstands his hammer technique with Holy Shield, and breaks his Clear Sky True Body with Angel Sword Slash. Angel’s Wrath then defeats Tang Hao’s desperate nine-ring detonation 26 27 28.

He beheads Tang Hao despite Tang San’s attempt to intervene, knocks Tang San unconscious, and publicly announces Tang Hao’s crimes and execution. After recovering two soul bones from the corpse, he travels to the cave near Holy Soul Village and retrieves another leg bone together with Ah Yin’s seed 29 30.

Financial Reforms and the Clear Sky Sect Campaign

Qian Chenming reviews Spirit Hall’s accounts and reduces the commoner awakening budget. He requires commoners to pledge loyalty or pay for awakening services and cancels subsidies for recipients deemed disloyal or unrighteous toward Spirit Hall 32.

He next orders preparations to destroy the Clear Sky Sect, arguing that doing so will restore Spirit Hall’s standing after Tang Hao’s earlier attack. Qian Daoliu objects and is sent back to kneel in the Worship Hall 33.

While publicly promising assistance in finding Xue Qinghe, Qian Chenming orders only a token search because Qian Renxue is already in the Worship Hall. He then arranges to accompany Ning Fengzhi to Heaven Dou, directs Yue Guan to recruit forces there rather than bring men from Spirit City, and orders the Angel Legion assigned as the diplomatic mission’s guard 33 34.
