Background / History

Dai Mubai was born into the Star Luo Imperial Family, whose princes became rivals for succession after awakening their Martial Souls at six. During the competition, they were initially forbidden from killing or permanently disabling one another; its eventual outcome, however, allowed only one prince to survive 110.

As a child, he corresponded with Zhu Zhuqing through letters delivered by his pets, boasted about his cultivation, and repeatedly asked for her name. After a defeat, her brief encouragement—“Keep going!”—prompted him to begin sending flowers from his training ground. Their correspondence became precious to her, although she initially refused to answer him 81.

Repeated losses to his older brother, Dai Weisi, convinced Dai Mubai that training might never change his fate. He fled the empire, leaving Zhu Zhuqing behind. Before departing, he carved “Keep going!” into a tree in the flower garden and ordered the garden burned 81 133.

By his first appearance, he was a Shrek Academy student living in the Heaven Dou Empire. He later moved with Shrek’s teachers and students to Blue Tyrant Academy 24 37.

Appearance

• Normal appearance: Golden hair and distinctly mismatched eyes 23 24.
• Martial Soul possession: His hair turns gray-white, the character for “king” appears on his forehead, and his arms become muscular enough to burst his sleeves 23.

Personality

Dai Mubai initially presents himself as entitled and eager to fight: he demands an inn’s last room and offers to cover the damage when the dispute turns violent. Nevertheless, he accepts Tang San’s victory without excuses, praises his strength, and offers the protection of his name at Shrek Academy 23 24.

His confidence coexists with deep fear of his family’s succession struggle. The Asura Illusion Realm confronts him with imprisonment, torture, and death following defeat by Dai Weisi. With his teacher’s guidance and his companions’ support, he eventually faces his brother without retreating 81 133 134.

He is openly affectionate toward Zhu Zhuqing and strongly protective of her. During their decisive battle, he recognizes that she is not simply someone waiting for his protection, but a partner who has worked to stand beside him. He chooses to pursue victory with her rather than abandon their shared effort for the Saint King’s power 107 137 138.

Evil-Eyed White Tiger

His beast Martial Soul supports direct physical combat, protective barriers, and ranged Soul Power attacks. Its compatibility with the Saint King inheritance later greatly increases his combat strength 23 113.

Formless Heavenly Dipper Force

A Soul Power technique taught through Yu Xiaogang’s lessons on distributing force and concentrating it at a single point 55.

• Shave: Provides explosive forward movement for closing distance 55.
• Paper Arts: Allows him to twist with an incoming attack, evading Dai Weisi’s tiger claw before counterattacking 136.

Ancient Evil-Eyed Saint King Inheritance

The inheritance grants power from an ancient divine beast associated with the Evil-Eyed White Tiger bloodline. Obtaining the legacy does not immediately give Dai Mubai conscious control over it 88 96.

• Saint King Form: Envelops him in golden-white light and sharply increases his combat strength. Upon awakening it, he defeats Thunder Academy’s entire seven-person team 107.
• Physical enhancement: Greatly improves speed, strength, and defense; even outside the complete form, his baseline strength rises after receiving the inheritance 113.
• Perception: His double-pupiled eyes detect opponents’ Soul Power flow and the beginnings of their movements, allowing him to interrupt ordinary Soul Masters before they release a skill 113.

Hell White Tiger

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill performed with Zhu Zhuqing, combining his Evil-Eyed White Tiger with her Hell Spirit Cat 82 133.

• Initial manifestation: Zhu Zhuqing summons the fusion while Dai Mubai remains trapped in Canghui Academy’s illusion. It breaks the opponents’ barrier but disperses after exhausting its strength 82.

Shrek Academy and the Great Soul Arena

Dai Mubai first encounters Tang San and Xiao Wu over an inn room. After losing to Tang San, he introduces himself as a Shrek student and later helps explain the academy’s entrance examinations. Discovering that Yu Xiaogang taught Tang San and Xiao Wu their self-created skills prompts him to ask whether the Grandmaster is still accepting disciples 23 24 28 31.

After becoming Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and relocating to Blue Tyrant Academy, he competes under the name Evil-Eyed White Tiger. He and Dugu Yan win their opening doubles match against the Battle Armor Mad Lions. He subsequently fights on the front line of the Shrek Seven Devils, whose Great Soul Arena record reaches forty-three consecutive victories 37 40 54 56 57 59.

Illusion Trial and the Saint King’s Descent

Canghui Academy’s Asura Illusion Realm reveals the Saint King within Dai Mubai’s consciousness and forces him to relive his fear of the imperial succession struggle. Zhu Zhuqing’s determination brings forth their Hell White Tiger fusion even while he remains caught in the illusion 80 81 82.

His Soul Power later begins dissipating, and he becomes increasingly withdrawn before falling unconscious. Dugu Bo identifies the condition as the Ancient Evil-Eyed Saint King’s inheritance and warns that previous successors died. Yu Xiaogang seeks Bibi Dong’s help; Dai Mubai ultimately awakens safely and begins learning to access the legacy 88 89 96.

Ranking Tournament and Dai Tian’s Plot

Dai Mubai activates the Saint King’s power against Thunder Academy, drawing the Star Luo Imperial Family’s attention. Dai Tian visits and claims that returning home would make the throne almost certainly his. Dai Mubai shows neither excitement nor acceptance 107 109 110.

Yu Xiaogang exposes the duke’s actual plan: destroy Zhu Zhuqing’s eyes and force Dai Mubai to sacrifice his inheritance to heal her. Liu Erlong strips Dai Tian of his Martial Soul and Soul Power, leaving him alive as an ordinary man 111 112.

Defeating Star Luo Royal Academy

Facing Dai Weisi becomes a personal turning point. Supported by his companions, Dai Mubai resolves to confront his brother rather than flee again. He matches Dai Weisi in close combat despite the latter’s slightly higher Soul Power 133 134 136.

When the opposing Hell White Tiger gains a sudden advantage, Zhu Zhuqing reminds him that they intend to win together. Their improved fusion defeats both opponents. Only afterward does Dai Mubai reveal his Saint King Form, demonstrating that he had won without relying on it 137 138.

Tournament Final

Against Spirit Hall Academy, Dai Mubai breaks Yan’s stone armor with Eight Extremes Collapse. He later accepts Oscar’s temporary all-attribute enhancement and unleashes White Tiger Meteor Shower while Tang San restrains the opposing fighters 141 142.
