Imperial Rivalries
- Xu Tianran initially secures a commandery-prince title for Xu Jingyao by publicly claiming that he possesses imperial blood 1.
- After Xu Jingyao awakens twin martial souls with innate level-twenty soul power, the emperor adopts him, promotes him to prince, and exempts him from bowing during audiences 2.
- Other princes regard Xu Jingyao’s support for Xu Tianran as a threat. Their assassination attempt employs twelve attackers ranging from Soul Ancestor to Soul Emperor 5 6 7.
- Xu Jingyao kills the attackers and orders their heads hung at the residences of the princes identified by Shadow Douluo’s investigation 7.
Technology and Economy
Soul Tool Development
- Civilian production: The Carefree Pavilion mass-produces soul tools for lighting, heating, cooking, and communication throughout the empire 19.
- Technical advantage: Its engineers reverse-engineer mechanisms from discarded Tang Sect hidden weapons and incorporate those designs into future soul tools 19.
- Research security: Core research and development remain in Mingdu. The Shrek City branch handles only sales and after-sales service 20.
- Advanced equipment: Kong Deming produces a rank-nine mask combining a protective barrier with aura concealment for Xu Jingyao’s journey abroad 16.
- Earlier neglect: Before developing his commercial faction, Xu Jingyao identifies civilian soul engineers as an overlooked workforce whose talents the nobility has neglected 7.
Carefree Pavilion
- Imperial backing: The Pavilion is supported by both the imperial family and the Crown Prince’s Residence, though foreign observers do not fully understand its connection to Sun Moon 16 20 28.
- Overseas markets: Its inexpensive civilian products reach the Heaven Dou, Star Luo, and Dou Ling empires, first attracting nobles and wealthy merchants and then ordinary households 29.
- Distribution plans: Xu Jingyao seeks access to the Ordinary Alliance, Xishui Alliance, and Aodu Chamber of Commerce trade routes 11.
- Resource imports: A contract with Shrek’s Treasure Pavilion supplies Mystic Water Pills, Soul-Nourishing Pills, and Body-Tempering Pills for Sun Moon talents and Xu Jingyao’s associates 28.
Society and Internal Security
Public Provision
Xu Jingyao describes Sun Moon’s public support as a major advantage over the Heaven Dou Empire. His account credits the empire with the following provisions 42:
- Unconditional martial soul awakenings for citizens.
- Schooling arrangements for Soul Masters.
- Opportunities for ordinary people to learn trades.
- Support for the elderly and care for the young.
Evil Soul Masters and the Holy Spirit Cult
- Strategic dependence: Sun Moon’s conventional Soul Masters are described as weaker than those of the Original Three Kingdoms. Evil Soul Masters help compensate for this disadvantage in high-level combat strength 11 14.
- Political protection: The Holy Spirit Cult performs dirty work for nobles. Its members generally avoid attacking the current imperial family, with exceptions tacitly approved by that family 5.
- Limits of imperial control: Kong Deming alone cannot confront the cult. Its two Limit Douluos make action against it particularly dangerous 5 16.
- Civilian danger: Xu Jingyao condemns the hunting of commoners in Mingdu, while Xu Tianran recognizes that Evil Soul Masters have become powerful enough to attack Royal Soul Engineer Academy students 15 16.
- Refugee origins: Citing imperial statistics, Xu Jingyao claims that more than half of Sun Moon’s Evil Soul Masters came from Heaven Dou after oppression and false accusations left them without alternatives 42.
- Proposed counterweight: Xu Jingyao recruits Ye Guyi to cultivate her Angel Martial Soul as a future means of purging Evil Soul Masters. Xu Tianran likewise sees her as a potential counter to them 14 16.
Foreign Relations and Objectives
- Original Three Kingdoms — Xu Tianran and Xu Jingyao intend to unite the continent under Sun Moon. Xu Jingyao also anticipates using civilian soul-tool markets as a foundation for later combat applications that could undermine the three kingdoms’ traditional Soul Master systems 8 29.
- Shrek Academy — A source of political danger but also a commercial partner. Mu En favors maintaining profitable relations with the Carefree Pavilion despite its suspected imperial connections 15 16 28.
- Heaven Dou Empire — A neighboring state and target of Xu Jingyao’s political maneuvering. He seeks to weaken its relationship with the Body Sect 16 33 42.
- Body Sect — Previously rejects Sun Moon’s offers of cooperation. Xu Jingyao later becomes Du Busi’s junior brother and challenges the sect’s willingness to sacrifice itself for Heaven Dou’s ruling Xue family 38 42.
- Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well — Xu Jingyao seals its entrance so that only his aura can open it and declares his intention to make the area Sun Moon territory; formal annexation is not established 33.
- Long-term research — Xu Jingyao considers Sun Moon the best candidate for eventual outer-space exploration, but believes scientific development requires a stable, unified environment 8.
History
The Empire’s Prospective God
Xu Tianran finds Xu Jingyao and Tang Wulin after their arrival through a spacetime rift and raises them within his household. Six years later, Xu Jingyao’s awakening transforms his political value: Kong Deming associates his innate level-twenty soul power with divine blessing, and the emperor begins hoping that Sun Moon can produce a god of its own 1 2 3.
After surviving the princes’ assassination attempt, Xu Jingyao uses life force to restore some movement to Xu Tianran’s injured leg. The brothers agree on a future in which Xu Tianran rules and Xu Jingyao protects a continent unified under Sun Moon 7 8.
Expansion Through Commerce and Recruitment
Over the following six years, the Carefree Pavilion develops into a wide-reaching commercial organization. At twelve, Xu Jingyao travels abroad under the identity of Pavilion Master Ziqing, protecting the secrecy of his imperial position while negotiating with Shrek Academy 10 15 16 20.
His subsequent journey brings him into the Body Sect. When Du Busi proposes moving the Pavilion to Heaven Dou, Xu Jingyao refuses and instead questions the Xue family’s treatment of its people. Du Busi abandons further relocation proposals; a year later, he acknowledges the sect’s growing debt to Xu Jingyao and hints that Heaven Dou will bear the consequences. The sect’s relocation or formal alliance with Sun Moon is not confirmed 42 43.
