Background / History
Previous Life and Childhood
Tang San originally lived in another world, where he survived without parents in the Tang Sect. Reborn as an infant, he retained its cultivation methods, assassination techniques, and hidden-weapon knowledge. His longing for family led him to treasure his new relationship with Tang Hao, despite his father’s drinking and despondency 4 81 121.
Tang Hao raised him in Holy Soul Village for six years. From the time Tang San could walk, he handled much of the cooking, laundry, and housework. His unusual maturity and unfamiliar techniques initially puzzled Lan Changsheng, who postponed investigating after learning how devotedly the child cared for his father 4 110.
Nuoding Academy and His Maternal Family
In Dorm Seven, Tang San defeats Wang Sheng through evasive footwork, Blue Silver Grass restraints, hardened hands, and a joint lock. Wang Sheng yields and recognizes him as the dormitory boss 1.
Tang Hao later introduces Lan Changsheng as Tang San’s maternal uncle and reveals that Ah Yin was the hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor. Offered either lifelong protection or support in pursuing revenge against Spirit Hall, Tang San immediately chooses revenge. Lan Changsheng then demonstrates that Blue Silver Grass can become a piercing weapon rather than serve only as a restraint 4.
This offensive direction conflicts with Yu Xiaogang’s planned control-system development. When Yu Xiaogang invokes Spirit Hall against his uncle, Tang San responds with killing intent, prompting Lan Changsheng to discipline him. The dispute ends with Tang San retaining Yu Xiaogang as an elder and teacher, while Yu Xiaogang agrees to approach future questions as discussions 14 16.
Tang San also meets Ah Yin for the first time as a seed whose shoots touch his palm. Later, he visits her recovering plant form at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 16 61.
Spirit Hall Pursuit
Spirit Hall’s interest escalates after its local personnel disappear while pursuing Tang San’s group. Bibi Dong concludes that the proposed Soul King reinforcement will not be sufficient. Tang Hao helps conceal Tang San and Xiao Wu while Lan Changsheng confronts Bibi Dong 30 38.
During the pursuit, Tang San kills a restrained opponent with his Blue Silver Dagger. Tang Hao praises the result but criticizes his earlier orders for endangering Xiao Wu, teaching him to restrain dangerous opponents sooner and avoid unnecessary close combat 30.
The Village Massacre
After helping three Red Boars search for missing family members, Tang San discovers that villagers intend to refine him and Xiao Wu into medicine. He restrains the gathering and tells Flender that the village cannot be allowed to remain, choosing to carry out the killings himself 57 58 59.
He invokes his promise to Lan Changsheng to build a world where humans and soul beasts coexist, arguing that people who eat people fall outside that ideal. Nevertheless, his hand trembles afterward. Lan Changsheng comforts him while emphasizing that kindness and greed exist among both humans and soul beasts 59.
Training and the Secret of His Soul
Lan Changsheng arranges for Tang San and Xiao Wu to learn force generation from the Iron-Armed Azure Ape. Tang San hopes to combine its methods with Tang Hao’s hammer techniques, surpass the Clear Sky Sect’s practitioners, and reclaim what his father lost. The training leads him to establish a connection with the Clear Sky Hammer itself 80 83 84.
The Earth Bear contract process later exposes something unusual about Tang San, leaving him afraid that Lan Changsheng has discovered his secret. Distracted during training and worried about losing his family, he finally tells Ah Yin that his soul is not native to this world 109 121.
Although he believes his mother will eventually accept him, her confusion makes staying painful. He leaves the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well at night to give her time, accompanied by the Earth Bear. His unfamiliarity with Sunset Forest’s dangers soon brings him into conflict with the seventy-thousand-year Evil Ghost Wolf 122.
Hidden Weapons and the Eight-Year Ordeal
Learning that Slaughter City suppresses Soul Skills convinces Tang San that his Tang Sect techniques offer a particular advantage there. He begins with stone and wooden weapons, then forges standardized Xuan Iron needles and throwing stones while gathering materials for more elaborate equipment 124 125 127.
The Asura God draws him into a separate space-time, where one outside month becomes eight years of combat against remnant souls. Tang San’s body, will, and close-range killing methods are remade through repeated injury and isolation. During this ordeal, the Evil Ghost Wolf becomes his second Soul Spirit and breaks his cultivation bottleneck 131.
The Asura God claims to have arranged his experiences from the moment he entered the world. Tang San attacks the god’s phantom and rejects the idea that his otherworldly origin entitles anyone to control his life. He nevertheless proceeds toward Slaughter City, intending to claim the inheritance without submitting to its architect 131 132.
Slaughter City and Return
After returning, Tang San intervenes to save Life God Church followers from four Soul Douluos. His techniques initially force them onto the defensive, but their superior Soul Power injures him; the Evil Ghost Wolf helps him escape with the survivors 130 131.
In Slaughter City, he defeats the entrance’s Dread Knight and completes one hundred death matches without a loss. His final match pits him against seven peak Soul Emperors and two half-step Titled Douluos, whom he defeats despite grievous injuries 133 135 136.
Tang Chen then overwhelms his exhausted body and attempts to destroy his future cultivation. Lan Changsheng intervenes, crushes Tang Chen, and devastates Slaughter City. Tang San is frightened less by the criminals’ deaths than by the unfamiliar indifference beneath his uncle’s gentleness 136 137.
On returning to Shrek, his altered appearance and temperament shock his classmates. He subsequently tells his parents that he intends to travel alone, reject his role as a pawn, and pursue an Asura path of his own choosing 139.
Sea God Island
Tang San later travels alone toward Sea God Island along an unnaturally peaceful sea route. He recognizes the possibility of another divine scheme, but the Blue Silver King’s shared bloodline and life aura gradually ease his suspicion 149 150.
The Blue Silver King shows him the Blue Silver Clan’s ancient history, strengthens his fifth Soul Ring, and repairs deficiencies in his bloodline. The spirit then joins him rather than disappearing, becoming rooted within his Martial Soul Origin 150 151.
Appearance
- Early childhood: Small and thin, with neat, short black hair, clean-cut features, and a composed expression unusual for his age 1.
- After bloodline awakening: Taller and more proportionate, with fairer, softer skin and increasingly handsome features resembling Ah Yin’s lineage 14.
- After the eight-year ordeal: Tall and upright, with weathered maturity, a cold bearing, and restrained killing intent. Xiao Wu, formerly closer to his height, reaches only his chest 139.
- Eyes: His eye technique produces a purple glow; following the prolonged slaughter, his gaze is repeatedly described as scarlet 1 131 135.
Personality
Tang San is disciplined, observant, and unusually self-controlled. He studies techniques closely and seeks ways to combine them with his existing knowledge. His enthusiasm for the Iron-Armed Azure Ape’s instruction comes from recognizing a skill independent of Martial Souls—another lasting advantage like his Tang Sect inheritance 80 81.
Family affection is his strongest emotional vulnerability. Having lacked it in his previous life, he willingly cares for Tang Hao and fears that revealing his soul’s origin will cost him Ah Yin’s love. This fear drives his secrecy and eventual departure more than any belief that his mother will permanently reject him 121 122.
His protectiveness coexists with a readiness to kill. Lan Changsheng challenges his instinct to answer threats with violence, while Tang Hao teaches him to consider the danger his decisions create for teammates. Eight years of isolation and slaughter make him markedly colder, but his attachment to family and determination to control his own fate survive 16 30 131 139.

Blue Silver Emperor
His maternal Martial Soul develops beyond ordinary Blue Silver Grass under Lan Changsheng’s guidance 4 14.

- Condenses into the Blue Silver Dagger, sharp enough to bury itself to the hilt in a tree 16.
- Provides a life essence with exceptional resilience after his bloodline fully awakens 109.
- Gains worldwide plant resonance after receiving the Blue Silver King’s origin power 150.
- Has a bloodline teleportation inheritance that Lan Changsheng says Tang San can learn at a sufficiently high rank; he is not shown mastering it in the supplied chapters 17 80.
Clear Sky Hammer and Force Generation
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as his second Martial Soul and has learned the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer and Great Sumeru Hammer from Tang Hao 14 80.
- Studies the Iron-Armed Azure Ape’s method of transmitting ground force through successive joints before releasing it at one point 80 83.
- Learns to treat the hammer as a responsive extension of himself rather than an inert weapon 84.

- Circulates internal energy through his meridians and assists his study of linked force transmission 83.
- Supplies fine fingertip control when polishing improvised weapons 125.
- Helps him resist environmental heat, though only partially 126.
Purple Demon Eye
A perception technique that sharpens his ability to analyze movement, materials, and opponents 80 121 127.

- Helps him read subtle emotional changes 121.
- Reveals impurities and structural irregularities in Xuan Iron during forging 127.
- Prolonged, demanding use can leave his eyes dry and aching and make him dizzy 80.
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track
His Tang Sect movement technique emphasizes elusive steps, precise evasions, and rapid repositioning 1 123.
- Lets him evade Wang Sheng without allowing a hit on his clothing 1.
- Supports withdrawal after disruptive hidden-weapon attacks 127.
- Remains useful against much stronger opponents, but cannot overcome an absolute power gap such as Tang Chen’s suppression 130 136.
Mysterious Jade Hand and Hidden Weapons
Tang San combines hardened hands, assassination knowledge, and precision throwing inherited from the Tang Sect 1 125 127.
- Mysterious Jade Hand: Protects his hands when blocking attacks and handling sharp needles 1 127.
- Bat Wing Reincarnation: Sends multiple needles toward different vital points to disrupt an enemy’s rhythm 127.
- Targeted attacks: Seals acupoints, interferes with Soul Power, and exploits gaps in armor or bodily defenses 127.
- Field manufacture: Produces weapons from stones and branches, then replaces expended metal ammunition through portable forging 125 127.
- Limit: Ordinary stone and wooden weapons are inadequate against high-level beasts and Slaughter City’s stronger inhabitants 125.
Soul Spirits
| Soul Spirit | Applications | Limits / Development |
|---|---|---|

| Evil Ghost Wolf | Uses sinister winds to disrupt enemies’ minds and supports escape 131 135. | Becomes his Soul Spirit during the eight-year ordeal. Its mental interference only briefly delays the final match’s strongest opponents 131 135. |
