In Xiluo's Dragon Inheritance memories, purely warrior-type classes were very weak.
Although they could use certain secret methods to strengthen their bodily functions and gain powers beyond ordinary people's understanding,
they fell far short of the fantastical feats Xiluo had read about in fantasy novels in his previous life.
Splitting stone tablets and shattering rocks was possible, but kneading iron into steel,
or moving as fast as a speeding car, was utterly impossible!
For someone weighing a hundred or even several hundred pounds to pit their strength against monsters dozens or hundreds of times their weight, winning was completely impossible!
Warrior-class practitioners were limited by their own bodies. Even if they honed their so-called Martial Arts to perfection, there had never been a recorded case of one defeating a monster of level ten or above.
Only spellcasters and holy-class practitioners were truly supernatural beings.
Compared with a warrior's techniques, their spells and holy arts were like firearms against cold steel. Not only did they possess astonishing destructive power, they could also let their users push their bodily functions beyond their limits.
Only beings like these were true enemies of dragons.
The Young Green Dragon lifted the red hatchling in her claws up before her. Her enormous eyes fixed on the little hatchling, her face hideous and terrifying. She opened her great maw and snarled:
"Gordon! You idiot! You actually dared to ignore my orders! You! Very good! Very good!"
The Young Green Dragon's voice was somewhat shrill. She abruptly tossed Gordon into the sky.
Then the vines on the surrounding trees grew wildly. The instant Gordon fell, they shot out with a series of swishes, binding the little hatchling's limbs tight!
"Barbara! What are you trying to do? Hey! Let me go! I'm going to be the strongest member of the Dragon Legion!"
Startled, the little hatchling Gordon could not help roaring as he struggled ceaselessly.
But immediately, more vines crept along his body and wrapped his mouth completely shut, leaving him able to make only muffled whimpers.
Gordon, the red dragon hatchling, was bound tightly in midair. In the end, only his nostrils and eyes remained exposed, and he could not move a muscle!
Having done all this,
The Young Green Dragon called Barbara glanced at the unconscious blue hatchling Abel on the ground and the green hatchling Koraman, who was covered in wounds. Her expression darkened further, and she swept a vicious glare over the hatchlings.
"Who started it?"
She roared.
"It was Abel! He provoked us green dragons! I only wanted to teach him a little lesson," Koraman hurriedly explained.
"I wasn't asking you!"
Barbara glared, frightening Koraman into shrinking back his neck.
"They both started it together. One kept shouting that green dragons were the strongest and smartest dragons, and the other insisted that blue dragons were. Neither would give in, so they started fighting."
A little black dragon spoke softly.
With a grim expression on her draconic face, Barbara waved her claws lightly. Another mass of vines sprouted from the surrounding trees, winding around the two little hatchlings who had just fought and mercilessly binding them in midair.
"You overenergetic idiots! You have no idea how to hold back! Aren't you afraid of becoming the next Allen?"
Barbara roared again, looking very angry.
At her words, all the Dragon Cubs turned toward a large tree in the distance. A scrawny little white dragon lay alone beneath it, looking terribly lonely.
Xiluo stared at him.
[White dragon hatchling] Level: 2 Status: Good (disabled)
Chromatic dragons were vicious and belligerent by nature, greedy and cunning-a bunch whose very genes marked them out to become rotten to the core.
With these vicious creatures gathered together, anyone could see that some nasty incidents were bound to happen.
Insulting other dragon breeds every day and getting into fights were practically routine.
As a Young Green Dragon and a general under the Dragon Mother, Barbara's main job at present was watching over the Dragon Cubs. Originally, she too had thought that scuffles between evil dragons were nothing worth worrying about, and had even welcomed them.
But three months earlier, an accident had occurred.
This white dragon hatchling named Allen had had his forelimb broken in a fight with a black dragon hatchling!
Chromatic dragons were not proficient in healing spells.
The poor little white dragon had been left with lasting damage as a result! Even after his forelimb healed, it could not change the fact that he had become a lame dragon.
Now he limped whenever he walked, greatly impairing his combat ability!
Because of this,
the Dragon Mother had flown into a rage!
Of course, this was not because she felt sorry for Little White Dragon Allen, but because she was distressed at the damage to her property!
She was distressed that, before her Dragon Legion was even complete, it already had a cripple! A factor impairing its fighting strength had appeared!
What if there were a few more such cripples in the future? Or even more serious injuries and deaths?
Then what would the Dragon Legion she had poured so much effort into assembling become? An association for disabled dragons? A place dedicated to taking in and raising disabled members of dragonkind?
Would their great Dragon Mother become a great, benevolent dragon even kinder than the Metal Dragons? How ridiculous!
The hatchlings looked at Little White Dragon Allen with varying expressions, saying nothing, their thoughts unknown.
Xiluo secretly studied the hatchlings' faces and could clearly see their indifference!
Evil dragons were evil dragons. Getting them to restrain their ingrained viciousness through reason was almost impossible!
Not one of them thought they would be as unlucky as the little white dragon! Or as weak!
Their thoughts could only be something like, Oh, look at that useless thing. Some black dragon scum actually broke his leg? What a waste! If it were me, I'd definitely have snapped that black dragon brat's neck!
Barbara cursed at the Dragon Cubs for a long time, then gave them another round of warnings. After ordering all the dragons not to let Gordon and the other two down, leaving them hanging and starving for three days, she finally flew slowly onto a nearby Giant Tree.
This was Barbara's nest, a special giant tree grown with nature magic. Its trunk was so wide that even dozens of people joining hands could not encircle it.
At its top, masses of branches and vines twisted together into a platform large enough for the Young Green Dragon to lie comfortably upon and watch the hatchlings' every move.
She narrowed her eyes at the slowly dispersing hatchlings, feeling somewhat mentally exhausted and lamenting her own bad luck.
As a green dragon who had entered young adulthood over a decade ago and was steadily approaching her prime, she should have been soaring freely through the skies, plundering passing travelers and merchant caravans wherever she went, and commanding great armies of evil creatures to display her might!
And what had happened instead?
The Dragon Mother had actually assigned her here to become a caretaker for a bunch of hatchlings? A nanny?
She had to watch this bunch of idiots every day! She barely had any free time!
She had only gone to nearby Hawking Town for two fucking days to have a date with Kuchi, and by the time she returned, there had nearly been another incident!
These damned idiots! Couldn't these brainless things spare her a little worry?
Barbara kept cursing.
Suddenly, she felt a faint rustling coming from the tree beneath her. Frowning slightly, she stretched out her long neck and looked down.
An azure hatchling was laboriously climbing up on all fours because his wings had yet to develop fully.
Looking at the tiny figure, Barbara blinked. Only after waiting for the little hatchling to climb up did recognition dawn on her face:
"I remember you! Xiluo Utrasis! Your Breath Weapon is very unusual, stronger than an ordinary blue dragon's."
