Background / History
Early life and Xiluo’s companions
Abel’s early rivalry with Koraman begins with a humiliating defeat: Koraman trips him with a vine, pins him down, and beats him unconscious before he can release his lightning attack 2. His opportunism also appears early, when he attempts to sell a mixed collection of dragon droppings as his own, provoking hatchlings who recognize their species’ contributions 27.
He subsequently follows Xiluo and helps his group hunt. Discovering that Allen has awakened a Frost Dragon bloodline devastates him, because he considers a White Dragon inherently inferior to a Blue Dragon. His public outburst reveals Xiluo’s Bloodline Refinement Technique to the other wyrmlings and prompts them to seek instruction 42 43.
While traveling with Xiluo, Gordon, and Allen, Abel is ambushed and partially swallowed by a Blackrock Python. His companions kill it and rescue him. Abel then identifies their location as the Tart mountain range near the Hurricane Kingdom and warns them about the Titan Ape inhabiting its center; the four settle there while avoiding the creature 78.
Life in Niro City
By Alicia and Koraman’s arrival in Niro City, Abel has become strong enough to defeat Koraman, reversing their earlier standing. He is also a recurring nuisance at a local casino, whose employee asks Xiluo to remove him for cheating 123. After choosing Waukeen as his patron, he receives responsibility for trading with Xiluo’s organized Astral Realm Walkers at the Points Trading Ground 131 132.
His rivalry with Koraman remains closely contested. Three years later, Koraman’s latest victory brings their record to 87 wins against Abel’s 85. Rather than devote himself entirely to conventional training, Abel develops a plan to secure his safety through another source of strength 138.
Breeding enterprise and Dragonbeast army
Abel begins breeding with magical beasts, sometimes causing disputes over missing privately owned animals. Xiluo pays compensation and deducts it from Abel’s money 178. His first documented offspring are two Iron Armor Blue Dragon Beasts born to an Iron Armor Beast. He intends to consult elven druids about training them and eventually raise hundreds or thousands of descendants 189.
The enterprise becomes a substantial source of income. At one point, Abel earns 15 gold coins daily from three clients, receives additional cinema income, and approaches savings of 10,000 gold coins 244. When he notices Pake and Rèla’er watching his Beast Pen, he seeks Xiluo’s protection. The two men are caught collecting a scale and Dragon Life Essence from his lair and are imprisoned under Xiluo’s orders 244 245.
Xiluo’s use of Soul Fruits turns Abel’s young offspring into a viable fighting force. Abel increasingly relies on this army and purchased equipment rather than exclusively improving his own body or spellcraft 251 252 266.
Expeditions and later standing
Leading his Dragonbeasts and Demonized Descenders toward the Wapo Mountain Range, Abel attacks a merchant caravan, kills its occupants, and takes valuables worth roughly 1,200 gold coins 346. A later Ulaluo delegation accuses a Blue Dragon of wrongdoing; Xiluo rejects their identification of Abel publicly but privately suspects him of extorting nobles 348.
Abel participates in the dragon competition, easily destroying the qualifying golems and defeating a level 11 White Dragon in a Selection Match 374 382. As Xiluo expands the kingdom’s garrisons, Abel objects to losing his followers, but Xiluo refuses to let him retain them in Niro City unless he pays their garrison fees 423.
His army eventually makes him the strongest dragon in Xiluo’s circle after Xiluo and Gordon when its strength is included. He can temporarily fight Gordon through a Joint Spell, although exhaustion among his offspring still leads to defeat 500. By his latest assessment, Abel is a demigod commanding 100,000 Dragonbeast descendants 601.
Appearance
- Blue Dragon features: Initially described as a pure Blue Dragon; he retains his Blue Dragon identity after acquiring mutated bloodlines 114 369.
- Large adolescent build: His Giant Blue Dragon bloodline makes him notably large even among adolescent dragons 369 374.
- Adult-scale size before adulthood: At 19.85 meters, he is already approximately as long as an adult Blue Dragon 428.
| Chapter | Documented Length |
|---|---|
| 114 | Approximately 5.6 meters |
| 344 | Approximately 11.2 meters |
| 369 | 16.4 meters |
| 428 | 19.85 meters |
Personality
Abel is intensely proud of his species and repeatedly treats Blue Dragon ancestry as proof of superiority. Allen’s early mutation provokes outright denial, and Abel continues disparaging White Dragons long after Allen becomes powerful 42 306 517. He frequently invokes his claimed common ancestry with Xiluo from 50,000 years earlier to demand respect or associate himself with Xiluo’s achievements 282 346 505.
He values wealth and practical advantages more than the prestige of earning strength through personal hardship. He immediately chooses Waukeen as his intended patron, builds a profitable breeding business, and spends heavily on equipment while rejecting Xiluo’s offer to sell him a Crimson Thunder mutation method 131 244 266. Praise easily wins him over: Xiluo persuades him to guard their lair by calling him the smartest Blue Dragon after himself 85.
His concern for his own safety coexists with cruelty toward weaker beings. Having previously been drugged and nearly abducted, he quickly seeks Xiluo’s help when he suspects surveillance; he considers mistaken accusations acceptable if they protect him 244. Conversely, he openly revels in frightening lesser creatures and massacres a caravan for profit 346.
Abel is affectionate toward his offspring, comforting them during training and celebrating their victories 249 251. His pursuit of potential mates is exceptionally brazen: he propositions the Crimson Queen in front of Gordon, her biological son, and maintains his pride after being rejected 520.
Abilities & Skills
Joint Spell
Abel combines his own power with that of his Dragonbeast descendants through a Joint Spell 500.
- Blood relationship: Their direct parent–offspring connection allows the spell to work especially effectively 500.
- Combined combat power: More than 200 offspring let him contend with Gordon temporarily; nearly 300 later raise his assessed level from 19 to 22 500 531.
- Endurance limit: The link depends on his offspring’s stamina. During the duel with Gordon, their shields weaken and some collapse before Abel is pinned down 500.
- Later potential: With 100,000 offspring, his enhanced strength is estimated to rival an ordinary Moon Rank powerhouse 601.
Lightning and Spellcasting
Abel possesses lightning breath and studies spells alongside Xiluo’s other companions 2 85 188.
- Uses lightning to incapacitate a fleeing warrior during the caravan attack 346.
- Experiments with strengthening thrown spears using lightning, extending his range to roughly 450 meters, though this remains inferior to Gordon’s unaided throw at the time 87.
- Casts several divine spells on himself before physically destroying the competition’s qualifying golems 374.
Mutated Bloodlines
| Bloodline | Documented Significance |
|---|---|
| Giant Blue Dragon | Greatly increases his size and contributes to his level 14 breakthrough. Xiluo estimates its concentration likely exceeds 75% at that point 369. |
| Thunderclap Dragon | Makes considerable progress alongside his Giant Blue Dragon bloodline 428. |
| Armored Thunder Dragon | Awakens during the ten-year interval; its inheritance improves the potential of his descendants 500. |
| Nether Thunder Dragon | Awakens during the same interval and likewise contributes to offspring potential 500. |
Divine Favor
Abel gains power through both Wealth and Pleasure quests 428.
- Completes five Divine Trials associated with Waukeen before his unequipped level 12 assessment 344.
- Later completes a sixth Wealth quest and seven Pleasure quests 428.
- Benefits from accelerated growth, reaching 2.5 times the normal rate during one four-year period 428.
- Receives passion-related power from the Goddess of Pleasure, increasing his daily breeding capacity 428.
Dragonbeast Army
Abel fathers and raises his own Dragonbeast soldiers. Xiluo’s Soul Fruits accelerate their development, although the resulting creatures initially require training to match normally developed Dragonbeasts of equivalent level 251 252.
| Chapter | Documented Force | Strength / Development |
|---|---|---|
| 189 | Two newborn Iron Armor Blue Dragon Beasts | Level 0 offspring of an Iron Armor Beast; azure bodies, small nasal horns, and emerging dragon scales. |
| 251 252 | Six accelerated-growth Dragonbeasts | Levels 9–12, with even the weakest possessing an Elite- template. |
| 306 | Sixteen Dragonbeasts | Includes another offspring comparable to the Thunder Rhino Dragonbeast. |
| 500 | More than 200 offspring | Five have reached the Hero Realm; all remaining offspring are at least level 14. |
| 531 | Nearly 300 Dragonbeasts | Link their energy to Abel for Union enhancement. |
| 601 | 100,000 offspring | Their combined enhancement underpins Xiluo’s estimate of Moon Rank-level fighting potential. |
Notable Offspring
- Iron Armor Blue Dragon Beasts — Abel’s first documented children; ground-dwelling offspring without dragon wings 189.
- Blazing Thunder Dragon Griffin — Raised to level 12 Elite through Soul Fruits. Defeats a physically weakened Koraman using lightning and fire despite its initial lack of combat experience 251.
- Thunder Rhino Dragonbeast — A wingless, heavily scaled level 12 Elite-+ offspring with powerful lightning and formidable charging ability 274.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Power of the Sea Emperor — An aqua-blue ring-like treasure worn on a claw, purchased for 9,000 gold coins 266.
- Provides magical reserves and water spells comparable to those of a level 13 water spellcaster.
- Demonstrated spells include water arrows, layered water shields, water cannonballs, and summoned water figures.
- Recharges naturally, requiring approximately one month to recover from empty to full.
- Raises Abel’s assessed level from 10 to 13, but does not represent an equivalent increase in his intrinsic strength. Xiluo notes that equipment damage, theft, and dependence remain drawbacks 266.
- Beast Pen and underground lair — His workplace and residence in eastern Niro City, used for receiving breeding clients and raising magical beasts 244 245.
Relationships
- Xiluo — Companion, patron, and protector. Supplies opportunities, training, and support for Abel’s offspring, while also deducting compensation from his money and restricting his use of followers 62 132 178 251 423.
- Koraman — Long-running rival whose early victory becomes a recurring point of contention. Their competition expands from personal duels to summoned forces and Dragonbeast armies 2 123 138 310.
- Gordon Kenneth — Companion and frequent source of humiliation. Abel seeks to surpass him through his army, but Gordon defeats his Joint Spell-enhanced challenge 78 252 500.
- Allen — Fellow early companion who attempts to rescue him from the Blackrock Python. Abel nevertheless resents Allen’s progress and habitually belittles his White Dragon ancestry 42 78 306 517.
- Alicia — Companion who heals him after duels, but also clashes with him over magical beasts. She and Koraman later overwhelm him even when he brings his army 138 197 310 459.
- Bosha Miste — Underling whom Abel shields from Xiluo’s displeasure, asking that his shortcomings be overlooked for the sake of their friendship 344.
- Dragonbeast offspring — His children and principal military force. He personally raises them and uses their shared blood relationship to maximize the Joint Spell 189 249 251 500.
- Crimson Queen — Prospective mate whom he openly propositions. Her rejection, and the proposal’s implications for Gordon, provoke an angry confrontation 520.
