Still half asleep, Xiluo shuddered all over, abruptly opened his draconic eyes, and woke up.
Naturally, Gordon and Allen, who had likewise drifted off the night before, woke with him.
The three Dragon Cubs straightened, then crouched slightly, arching their bodies as they readied themselves for battle.
Then they stared warily toward the source of the sound.
Then...
Xiluo froze.
What was he looking at?
A giant black-scaled python more than ten meters long had opened its gaping maw and swallowed Abel's head and half his body.
Only the hatchling's hind legs and tail remained outside, frantically kicking and slapping the ground, sending dust and gravel flying.

"Pfft! Hahahaha... Hahahaha..."
Before Xiluo could act, the Red Dragon Whelp burst out laughing at the sight of Abel.
He even pointed a claw at Abel's backside and said:
"Ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous! Abel! Look at you! A lowly monster swallowed half your body, and all you can do is call Xiluo for help?
"A dragon like you might as well die! You've disgraced all dragonkind! Hahahaha!"
"Damn you, Gordon! I was just ambushed! Damn it! Help me already!"
Abel roared again, his voice sounding extremely strange with his head inside the python.
As his words fell,
his body slid another inch into the python.
The python was straining...
"Abel! I'm coming!"
The dependable Allen did not mock his companion. Instead, he shouted and raised his staff.
Vines began growing out of the ground, encircling the python in an attempt to bind it, only to be snapped apart in an instant.
An elite- level 8 creature was not something Allen, an elite- level 6 dragon, could affect with a mere first-tier spell, especially a nature spell, which was not known for dealing damage.
