Izuna is analytical and pragmatic. Rather than treating Ryuto’s unfamiliar power solely as a threat, he considers whether it can be learned, recruited, or kept neutral. He argues against costly harassment and assassination attempts that could drive Ryuto toward the Senju, and directs intelligence gathering toward Ryuto’s origins and personal attachments 18.

His composure does not prevent pride or hostility. He mocks Ryuto’s obvious attempt to lure him into a valley, reacts angrily when Ryuto later outpaces him, and dismisses defeated Kaguya fighters with contempt. Nevertheless, he recognizes Ryuto’s sincere desire for neutrality and ends their first duel without pressing for a kill 20 21 44 72.

His loyalty to Madara is deeply personal. He offers to risk his own sight rather than endanger the Uchiha clan head, yet repeatedly challenges his brother’s judgment when suspicious opportunities for power appear. He is particularly disturbed when Madara acts on the stone tablet without allowing him to verify its contents 62 63 101.

Izuna can cooperate with former enemies when the clan’s safety demands it. After being controlled, he proposes sharing Uchiha secret records with the Senju and Uzumaki. His later exchanges with Tobirama retain a competitive edge even as the two become effective battlefield partners 59 72 80.

Recruitment Attempt and Early Battles

Izuna persuades Madara to replace repeated attacks on Ryuto with a recruitment attempt. After observing Ryuto’s movements and recognizing his bait, he offers Uchiha resources and systematic training. Ryuto refuses, insisting on neutrality. Their ensuing duel exposes Ryuto’s lack of experience, but Izuna accepts that his refusal is sincere and conditionally leaves him alone 18 20 21.

They clash again when Ryuto protects Mito and Rena during an Uchiha attack. Izuna escalates to Mangekyō genjutsu, Fire Release, and Susanoo, but Ryuto destroys the construct. After Ryuto scatters the tailed beasts and Uchiha forces with another attack, Izuna orders a retreat shortly before Madara arrives 26 27 28 29.

Canyon Deathmatch and Possession

After Ryuto’s growth becomes unmistakable, Madara subjects Izuna to intensive preparation for a two-on-two deathmatch against Ryuto and Hashirama. At the canyon, Izuna initially disrupts Ryuto with genjutsu, but Ryuto adapts and forces him onto the defensive. The brothers combine their Susanoo, only for Ryuto’s Tri-Beam to destroy it and leave Izuna unconscious 44 45 46 49 50 51.

Black Zetsu exploits Izuna’s depleted mental state through the Spiritual Fusion Technique. Using his body, Zetsu attempts to stab the exhausted Ryuto; Rena intercepts the kunai and suffers a grave chest wound. Hashirama subsequently treats Izuna after guaranteeing his safety to Madara 53 56.

Investigation and Eternal Eyes

Izuna remembers remaining conscious while losing control of his body. During recovery, he proposes bringing Uchiha secret texts into the investigation. Comparing the clans’ records reveals recurring manipulation associated with the Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki, contributing to a temporary agreement to share information 58 59 60.

When an ancient scroll promises the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, Izuna immediately distrusts its timing. He nevertheless investigates and tests its method, then proposes exchanging eyes with Madara rather than sacrificing one brother’s sight for the other. The successful operations grant both brothers eternal eyes, and Izuna develops his condensed Susanoo armor soon afterward 62 63 64.

Ruins Expedition and Lunar Conflict

Izuna joins Madara, Hashirama, Tobirama, and Ryuto to investigate the supposed Sage of Six Paths ruins. At the oasis, he and Tobirama defeat Kaguya fighters before the expedition is transported to the moon 69 72 74.

During the conflict with Hyūga Tenshu, Tobirama saves Izuna from a puppet encirclement. Izuna later shields the injured Madara with Susanoo, attempts combined genjutsu, and uses Tobirama’s delivered kunai to escape with his brother. He guards Madara while Hashirama treats the wound, then carries the group toward the moon’s core in Perfect Susanoo 80 82 83 86.

Allied War and Madara’s Escalation

Izuna and Madara fight on the first front against the White Zetsu, combining Susanoo with large-scale fire techniques. When Black Zetsu claims Kaguya has killed Ryuto, Izuna and Tobirama conclude that she is lying and agree to search for him 89 95.

Madara’s revelation that he deliberately obtained Hashirama’s cells alarms Izuna, who protests that the suspicious stone-tablet information should have been verified first. Recognizing how much his brother has changed, Izuna resolves to witness Madara’s next duel with Ryuto. He later speaks in favor of Hashirama’s leadership, pointedly calling Madara a war criminal whom Hashirama still insists on protecting 101 102 109.

Trivia

• His favorite food is tofu-skin sushi. Madara brings him some prepared by the clan cook while he recovers at the Senju compound 59.
• Izuna states that he awakened his Mangekyō more recently than Madara and that his awakening occurred because of his brother; the circumstances are not explained 62.
