Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan 63 Exchanges eyes with Izuna through surgery performed by Uchiha Yan. Gains sharper vision, greatly increased ocular power, and relief from the strain associated with his previous eyes.

Background

Madara and Hashirama were close friends as children. They competed at skipping stones beside a secluded river, and Madara sometimes hid in Wilderness Valley to recover after losing their childhood fights. Their later positions as leaders of opposing clans turned that friendship into a mortal rivalry 43 69.

As Uchiha Clan Head, Madara is the clan’s central military figure. Tobirama describes him as worth half the clan by himself. Madara and Izuna also inherit ancestral teachings that associate the Sharingan’s ultimate evolution with discovering the “truth,” although their father never explained what that truth meant 33 60.

Appearance

  • Usual appearance: Black hair, a piercing gaze, and scarlet Sharingan. His entrance alone intimidates the Uchiha officers assembled beneath him 18.
  • Battle clothing: Warring States armor, described as dark or red, with a large fan carried on his back 39 43 48.
  • Informal clothing: Simple, dark clan clothing with his hair tied back during his visit to the Senju compound 59.
  • After absorbing Kaguya: White hair reaching his waist, two curved goatlike horns, and dark red armor over a white Ōtsutsuki-style coat 103.
  • Severing Prison form: Flowing black energy covers his clothing, hair, face, and skin, leaving only his scarlet Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan exposed 107.

Personality

Madara is proud, combative, and intensely interested in worthy opponents. Ryuto’s unfamiliar energy initially attracts his curiosity, but Ryuto’s rapid growth turns that interest into a determination to defeat him. Madara studies his rival’s speed, stamina, energy control, and techniques rather than relying solely on brute strength 18 39 70.

He believes lasting order requires an overwhelmingly powerful ruler. He rejects Hashirama’s proposed alliance because rules cannot enforce themselves and because disagreement between powerful leaders would eventually restart the fighting. His pursuit of supremacy becomes increasingly ruthless: he follows suspicious instructions, engineers an opportunity to obtain Hashirama’s cells, and conceals his Rinnegan until he can seize Kaguya’s power 43 101.

Izuna is the strongest personal check on that ambition. Madara refuses to surrender his brother even when badly wounded and facing Ryuto’s Super Saiyan power. He can nevertheless cooperate pragmatically when the clan is threatened, agreeing to information-sharing and joint investigations without abandoning his rivalries 55 56 60 68.

Abilities & Skills

Taijutsu and Combat Analysis

Madara combines precise hand-to-hand technique with Sharingan perception and extensive battlefield experience 30 39.

  • Anticipates movements, changes attacks mid-combination, and exploits openings; against an exhausted Ryuto, he dislocates a wrist and cracks a rib 30.
  • Identifies Ryuto’s reliance on instinct, incomplete use of Senju techniques, and reluctance to strike vital points 39.
  • Uses a staff in close combat after gaining Kaguya’s power, although Ryuto’s rapid attacks can restrict his opportunities to employ more elaborate techniques 104 105.

Sharingan and Genjutsu

His ocular abilities support perception, mental attacks, interrogation, and control of Tailed Beasts 30 65 67.

  • Places a captured spy under genjutsu to extract information about the surveillance of Uchiha facilities 65.
  • Controls multiple Tailed Beasts during his rematch with Hashirama, though the beasts begin resisting as the battle becomes chaotic 67.
  • Combines genjutsu with Izuna, but Tenshu’s Tenseigan chakra cloak repels their mental attack 82.
  • Before the Eternal Mangekyō awakening, severe expenditure leaves his eyes bleeding, vision blurred, and ocular power exhausted 52 54.

Susanoo

Madara uses Susanoo for defense, large-scale combat, and flight 55 64.

  • Majestic Attire: Susanoo: Covers Izuna’s purple Susanoo framework with dark red armor, producing a combined giant approximately thirty meters tall. Hashirama’s wooden Buddha strains its defenses before Ryuto’s Tri-Beam destroys both layers 51.
  • Perfect Susanoo: A complete winged giant armed with chakra blades. Madara uses it to pursue and subdue the Five-Tails and to cut through large enemy formations 64 65 89.
  • Adjustable manifestation: Can deploy only the upper body, using its sword to split the Hagoromo Clan’s combined Wind-Fire Thunderstorm 72.
  • Enhanced form: After absorbing Kaguya, its armor gains elaborate patterns and its back develops four wings 101.
  • Limits: Super Saiyan Ryuto, Tenshu’s Truth-Seeking Orbs, and Kaguya each demonstrate the ability to break his Susanoo 55 82 87 90.

Rinnegan and Six Paths Techniques

Madara awakens the Rinnegan by combining his evolved Uchiha eyes with Hashirama’s cells 101.

  • Sealing Technique: Absorption Seal: Absorbs ninjutsu and chakra; enables him to take Kaguya’s power after Ryuto gravely wounds her 100 101.
  • Tengai Shinsei: Summons a flaming meteorite toward the battlefield 101.
  • Asura Path: Transforms his armor into weaponry, deploying chakra bullets, missiles, lasers, and energy blades from his arms, shoulders, and chest 104.
  • Other Six Paths applications: His expanded arsenal includes creature summoning and control over attraction and repulsion 104.

Limbo

Limbo: Border Jail supplies invisible shadows that coordinate attacks with Madara and can independently use ninjutsu 105.

  • Shadows alternate attacks to obscure their numbers and recovery intervals; Ryuto deduces that there are no more than six 105.
  • Ryuto condenses his golden aura to sense their attacks and gradually adapts to their coordination 105.
  • Limbo: Severing Prison sacrifices every shadow for a one-time, severalfold increase in Madara’s own power. The technique places a heavy burden on him and permanently removes access to Border Jail 107.

Truth-Seeking Orbs

After his transformation, Madara manifests nine black Truth-Seeking Orbs behind him 104.

  • Changes an orb into a staff for close-range fighting 104.
  • Combines orb transformations with taijutsu and Rinnegan techniques to vary his attacks 104.

Fire Release and Senjutsu

Madara is proficient in Fire Release and later gains the ability to absorb natural energy and use senjutsu 34 105.

  • Uses fire techniques alongside Izuna to clear White Zetsu from their assigned battlefront 89.
  • A Limbo shadow wounds Ryuto with Sage Art: Yin Release Lightning Dispatch Lightning Net 105.
  • Uses Sage Art: Blaze Release: Majestic Destroyer Flame to unleash black flames during the final duel 107.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Warring States armor and large fan — His customary battlefield equipment 39 48.
  • Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan scroll — Suspiciously timed instructions describing eye transplantation between blood relatives. Izuna investigates and tests the method before the brothers exchange eyes 62 63.
  • Uchiha stone tablet — Madara deciphers instructions about combining the “sage body” and “sage eye.” He suspects something is wrong with the tablet but follows its guidance to gain power 101.
  • Flying Thunder God Guidepost — Supplied by Tobirama for the five-person expedition to the Endless Desert 69.
  • Yin-Yang Four Symbols Eight Trigrams Seal — Applied by Mito after his confrontation with Ryuto; prevents him from using chakra while leaving basic movement possible 109.

Relationships

  • Izuna Uchiha — Younger brother, trusted adviser, and combat partner. Their mutual eye exchange grants both Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. Izuna later becomes alarmed by Madara’s increasingly indifferent pursuit of power 18 56 63 102.
  • Hashirama Senju — Childhood friend, ideological opponent, and principal rival. Hashirama saves his life on the moon and later vouches for him, allowing him limited freedom within the Senju compound 43 83 85 109.
  • Ryuto — An intriguing outsider who becomes Madara’s target for supremacy. Their rivalry develops from battlefield encounters into a final confrontation between Ryuto’s Super Saiyan 2 form and Madara’s sacrificed-Limbo power 18 30 100 107.
  • Tobirama Senju — Enemy turned investigative and battlefield collaborator. Tobirama helps rescue the brothers from Tenshu; he and Madara later agree that the Shinobi Alliance needs unified leadership 60 82 109.
  • Black Zetsu — Manipulator who cultivates conflict around Madara and exploits his desire for strength. Zetsu identifies him as Indra’s reincarnation and admits to provoking successive reincarnations for over a thousand years 42 62 87.
  • Hyūga Tenshu — Hostile Tenseigan wielder. Madara challenges him on the moon, then later reveals that he deliberately allowed a critical injury to obtain Hashirama’s cells through treatment 81 82 101.
  • Ōtsutsuki Kaguya — Enemy who initially overwhelms him. Madara waits until Ryuto gravely wounds her before absorbing her power 87 90 100.
  • Mito Uzumaki — Participant in the investigation of their clans’ history; later seals Madara’s chakra 60 109.
