Guard Corps Instructor

Before meeting Kakarot, Yingyue became an Iron-Cutting Swordsman at fifteen and passed the Guard Corps’ formal assessment by sixteen. She was assigned as the Seventh Squad’s instructor, overseeing a recently established reserve group whose members were around ten years old 4 8.

When Lilith brought Kakarot to training, Yingyue allowed him to attempt the squad’s admission test. She then organized strength assessments and sparring matches to determine the trainees’ abilities and select their captain. Following Kakarot’s victory over Lilith, she formally appointed him captain and charged him with helping the others grow stronger 4 5 8.

Intensified Training and the Attack on Zou

The trainees’ dedication inspired Yingyue to increase her own workload and combine swordsmanship with Haki more deliberately. After a year, she had reached 2,300 Doriki and could release Flying Slashes. She supported shifting the group’s focus toward Haki and Sulong control and welcomed Kakarot’s proposal to study the Marines’ Six Powers 8 9 10.

During Cipher Pol’s assault on Zou, Yingyue overwhelmed a CP0 Swordmaster through superior physique, speed, and swordsmanship. Devil Island Breakthrough

On Devil Island, Yingyue challenged the Golden Blade Mantis after finding it feeding on a Tyrannosaurus rex. Forced to use Sulong against its strength, Haki, and rapid bladework, she absorbed its techniques throughout their fight. Both combatants advanced during the encounter: Yingyue became a Great Swordmaster, while the mantis developed powerful blade intent 33.

Their strongest slashes canceled each other out. Recognizing the mantis’s intelligence, Yingyue assured it that she wanted only a spar and had no intention of stealing its prey. She later sought it out again and enthusiastically welcomed it when it joined the group 33 37.

Yingyue proposed giving the new companion a name. Lilith suggested Athena, recalling a goddess of war from Kakarot’s stories, and Yingyue approved the choice. The group celebrated Athena and Hades with a welcoming banquet before leaving Devil Island 38.

Later Sword Duels

Yingyue continued improving through sparring with Athena and Vian. She later exchanged techniques with Bogard, using her Black Blade and Phantom Shadow Sword Intent in a duel that ended by mutual agreement after both had learned from the other 94 101.

Her subsequent match with Koshiro was evenly balanced. Yingyue’s speed initially wounded him, but his increasingly forceful counters required her to adjust. While attacking, she also studied his defensive methods and incorporated some of them into her swordsmanship 152 153.

Personal Life and Continued Voyages

Yingyue joined the women’s plan to make Kakarot acknowledge their romantic interest, complaining that he had failed to respond to their advances. When Lilith later revealed their discussion and said Kakarot liked them all, Yingyue became visibly embarrassed. She nevertheless helped ease the group’s awkwardness afterward 143 146.

On Ohara, she shared in the group’s domestic life, accompanying Rouge and playing with baby Ace during a shopping trip. In the finale, she remains aboard the companions’ ship, playfully teasing a tiny transparent fish as they sail toward further adventures 209 216.
