Chapters 51–75 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 51Attack

Madara Uchiha rescued Junpei from Mahito and told him that his mother was still alive. Madara attacked Mahito and split his body in two, but he warned that the fight was not over.

  • Madara appeared in front of Mahito, pulled Junpei to Itadori, and identified himself as the man who would kill Mahito.
  • Itadori reassured Junpei and introduced Madara as their dependable Jujutsu High senpai.
  • Madara told Junpei that his mother was still alive, and Mahito mocked the claim, saying he had seen her dead.
  • Madara revealed he had investigated Mahito from the time Mahito first met Junpei, then attacked him with Yasaka Magatama.
  • Madara used Wood Release to trap Mahito and slashed him in two, but said the fight was not over.

Ch. 52All together

Mahito reassembled himself and explained that ordinary attacks could not harm him because they could not reach his soul. Madara urged Itadori to use his connection to Sukuna to attack Mahito’s soul, reassured Junpei that his mother was safe, and called on both companions to fight Mahito together.

  • Mahito restored his body and taunted Madara, explaining that only attacks capable of reaching the soul could truly hurt him.
  • Madara admitted his Wood Release clone could not attack Mahito’s soul, but told Itadori that his coexistence with Sukuna gave him the potential to do so.
  • Itadori trusted Madara’s guidance, steeled himself, and agreed to fight Mahito.
  • Madara told Junpei that his mother was safe with professional jujutsu sorcerers and promised to take him to her after the battle.
  • Madara identified Mahito as the mastermind who had endangered Junpei’s mother and betrayed Junpei, then invited Itadori and Junpei to face him together.

Ch. 53The fourth person

Madara brought Kento Nanami in to support Itadori and Junpei against Mahito, who unleashed a horde of Transfigured Humans. Nanami taught Itadori that killing them was the only way to free them, and Itadori overcame his hesitation and joined the fight.

  • Madara summoned Kento Nanami and assigned him to support Itadori while Madara protected Junpei.
  • Nanami praised Madara's preparations and stepped forward to face Mahito as an adult responsible for protecting the students.
  • Mahito summoned dozens of Transfigured Humans and sent them against Madara, Nanami, Itadori, and Junpei.
  • Itadori hesitated to attack the Transfigured Humans, but Nanami told him they could not be saved and that killing them was the only way to free them.
  • Itadori sensed the souls within the Transfigured Humans and struck one down, then resolved to free the rest.

Ch. 54Exorcism

Madara’s clone survived Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration, while Itadori discovered that his attacks could damage Mahito’s soul. The group prepared to fight together, with Junpei assigned to handle the Transfigured Humans.

  • Mahito rushed toward Junpei, but Madara broke free of the Transfigured Humans and attacked him.
  • Mahito used Idle Transfiguration on Madara, but it had no visible effect; Itadori struck Mahito’s soul and sent him crashing into a wall.
  • Madara revealed he was a Cursed Technique construct and said something within him had canceled Mahito’s technique.
  • Madara told Itadori that attacks reaching Mahito’s soul could defeat him, and Nanami praised Itadori’s ability.
  • Madara assigned Junpei to deal with the Transfigured Humans, then took a fighting stance as the group prepared to exorcise Mahito.

Ch. 55Metamorphosis

Mahito awakened his Domain Expansion under Yuji Itadori and his allies’ assault, but Madara Uchiha’s clone broke through the domain and sent Itadori inside. Mahito’s attempt to touch Itadori’s soul drew out Ryomen Sukuna, who grievously wounded him, leaving Itadori poised to deliver a finishing blow.

  • Yuji Itadori, Kento Nanami, Junpei Yoshino, and Madara Uchiha’s clone overwhelmed Mahito until his near-death insight let him awaken Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection.
  • Mahito’s domain trapped Nanami and Junpei and began targeting their souls, while Madara Uchiha’s clone summoned a four-armed Susanoo and smashed a breach through the domain’s outer wall.
  • Madara Uchiha’s clone urged Itadori through the breach, and Mahito saw Ryomen Sukuna within Itadori’s soul when the domain’s sure-hit effect brought him into contact with it.
  • Ryomen Sukuna slashed Mahito’s soul, badly wounded him, and caused the unstable domain to collapse.
  • Itadori saw Mahito incapacitated and charged at him with a cursed-energy-coated fist.

Ch. 56Running away?

Mahito escaped Itadori and the others by detonating his body, but Madara Uchiha's Clone protected them and revealed that Madara had anticipated the escape. Underground, Mahito met Kenjaku, only for Madara to appear and confront them.

  • Mahito used his cursed energy and part of his soul to trigger an explosion, and Madara's Clone shielded Itadori, Nanami, and Junpei with Susanoo.
  • Itadori wanted to chase Mahito into the sewer, but Nanami and Junpei persuaded him to leave and avoid rushing into danger.
  • As Madara's Clone vanished, it said Madara had expected the escape and was already pursuing Mahito.
  • Mahito crawled through the sewer in a damaged juvenile body and encountered Kenjaku, who offered to help him leave.
  • Madara Uchiha stepped out of the darkness and asked Kenjaku and Mahito where they were going.

Ch. 57Mahito's death

Madara Uchiha confronted Kenjaku and Mahito in the sewers, killed Mahito by destroying his soul, and sealed his body. He let Kenjaku escape for now, intending to kill him later while keeping his powers concealed from Sukuna.

  • Madara appeared before Mahito and Kenjaku, recognized Kenjaku in Suguru Geto's body, and declared that both would die.
  • Madara expanded his domain, Heavenly Imperial Pillars, and Kenjaku escaped through a gap using Simple Domain, abandoning Mahito.
  • Madara used his Cursed Staff to destroy Mahito's soul and kill him inside the domain.
  • Madara sealed Mahito's empty body in a scroll and considered how the death would hinder Kenjaku's Culling Game plans.
  • Madara decided he would need to kill Kenjaku himself but left the sewers without pursuing him, wary of revealing too much to Sukuna.

Ch. 58Choice

Madara confirmed that he had killed Mahito and declined Nanami’s offer to recommend him for Grade 1, saying he would not advance until Sukuna was dead. He reunited Junpei with his mother, then told Itadori that Junpei should decide for himself whether to attend Jujutsu High.

  • Madara told Itadori, Junpei, and Kento Nanami that Mahito was dead and admitted he could attack souls.
  • Nanami offered to recommend Madara for Grade 1, but Madara refused until Sukuna was dead.
  • Madara took Junpei to the room where his mother had been kept safe, and Junpei embraced her after learning she was alive.
  • Junpei apologized for worrying his mother and reassured her that he was safe, while Itadori watched them reunite.
  • Itadori wondered whether Junpei should return to an ordinary life instead of joining Jujutsu High, and Madara said Junpei should choose his own path.

Ch. 59Making a decision

Junpei decided to attend Jujutsu High with his mother's support, and Madara secured her safety with a Binding Vow before leaving. As Madara headed out alone, he reflected that Kenjaku had escaped and Sukuna had witnessed the night's events.

  • Junpei told his mother about the recent events and asked for her consent to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and she agreed after seeing his new sense of purpose.
  • Madara told Junpei and Yuji Itadori to enroll at Jujutsu High, gave each of them a one-use protective Doll, and sent them there with Assistant Supervisor Yoshino.
  • Madara made a Binding Vow with Junpei's mother, who agreed not to reveal information about Jujutsu Sorcerers in exchange for a protective Cursed Technique.
  • Madara left Junpei's mother and walked through Tokyo, thinking about Kenjaku's escape and Sukuna's presence inside Itadori.

Ch. 60Impure World Reincarnation

Madara prepared a new weapon against Sukuna by using Impure World Reincarnation to revive Angel, who agreed to help erase The Fallen. He then headed toward Tokyo, considering whether Hanami would appear at the upcoming Goodwill Event.

  • Madara infiltrated a remote prison, subdued a death row prisoner, and carried him to an isolated forest.
  • Madara used the prisoner's body and Angel's finger bone to perform Impure World Reincarnation, bringing Angel back to life.
  • Madara explained that Sukuna was nearing revival and asked Angel to help erase The Fallen; Angel agreed.
  • Madara placed Angel in a coffin and stored her underground until she was needed.
  • Madara considered hunting Hanami at the Goodwill Event, then set off toward Tokyo.

Ch. 61Watching

Junpei received Maki’s advice before joining the Goodwill Event, while Madara watched the competition from the monitoring room. The event began as the principals and teachers turned their attention to the students in the forest.

  • Maki assigned Junpei to disrupt Kyoto Jujutsu High using his Shikigami and the terrain, and told him to prioritize his safety.
  • Madara joined Satoru Gojo, Gakuganji, Mei Mei, Utahime, and Masamichi Yaga in the monitoring room to watch the event.
  • Gakuganji objected to Madara staying in the room, but Satoru Gojo defended him and praised his strength.
  • Utahime revealed that Madara had sold her an embarrassing photograph of Satoru Gojo sneezing, prompting Gojo to challenge Madara to delete every copy.
  • Masamichi Yaga announced that the competition had begun, and everyone turned to the screens as the students took their positions in the forest.

Ch. 62Ice and fire

Madara discovered that Uraume had appeared near the Goodwill Event grounds to retrieve Sukuna’s finger and left the monitoring room to confront him. Their battle began in a secluded clearing, where Madara’s fire technique met Uraume’s ice attack.

  • The screens showing Yuji Itadori’s area went dark, and Mei Mei explained that some of her crows might have lost their connection.
  • Madara sensed that a reconnaissance clone had been destroyed and recognized its attacker as Uraume, who had incarnated ahead of schedule.
  • Madara left the monitoring room alone, telling the others that he would deal with a bug.
  • Uraume planned to find Sukuna’s finger and leave, but Madara appeared behind him in the clearing and threatened to kill him.
  • Uraume unleashed Ice Formation: Falling Torrent, and Madara countered with Fire Release—Majestic Destroyer Flame, sending ice and fire crashing together.

Ch. 63An end to it

Madara overwhelmed Uraume with his flames, trapped him in his Domain Expansion, and killed him. He sealed Uraume’s remains for an experiment with Impure World Reincarnation, then headed toward the Goodwill Event grounds with plans for Sukuna.

  • Madara’s intensified flames melted Uraume’s ice and forced him to endure the attack inside an ice fortress until his flames subsided.
  • Madara activated his Domain Expansion, Heavenly Imperial Pillars, and Uraume defended against its sure-hit effect with Hollow Wicker Basket.
  • Madara told Uraume that he would help revive Sukuna and claimed that neither Sukuna nor Kenjaku could stop him.
  • Madara’s Truth-Seeking Orb shattered Uraume’s barrier, pierced his chest, and killed him inside the domain.
  • Madara sealed Uraume’s remains in a scroll, considered reviving him as a pawn, and walked toward the monitoring room while promising Sukuna more gifts.

Ch. 64Hard to predict

Madara discovered that Hanami had entered the forest under a Curtain that barred both him and Satoru Gojo, and he began forcing his way inside to deal with Haruta and watch the students fight. When Madara destroyed the Curtain, Gojo prepared to enter as well.

  • Madara concluded that Hanami had come alone and planned to leave the cursed spirit alive so Itadori, Fushiguro, and Junpei could face it.
  • Madara found that the Curtain’s binding vows barred both Satoru Gojo and Madara Uchiha, and he suspected Kenjaku might have awakened other ancient sorcerers early.
  • Madara decided to enter, eliminate Haruta Shigemo, and check for unexpected enemies, then fired Light Fang at the Curtain.
  • Satoru Gojo waited outside, trusting Madara to support the students and choosing not to interfere with their chance to grow.
  • Madara destroyed the Curtain, and Satoru Gojo recognized the opening and prepared to enter.

Ch. 65Hunting the Hyena

Utahime, Kugisaki, and Mai confronted Haruta Shigemo after he ambushed Utahime, but the Curtain’s sudden destruction sent him fleeing. Madara intercepted Haruta and beat him severely before continuing deeper into the forest, leaving the others stunned and unsure why he had targeted him.

  • Utahime contacted the others while rushing through the Curtain, then dodged Haruta Shigemo’s surprise attack.
  • Kugisaki and Mai joined Utahime and prepared to fight Haruta, but the Curtain suddenly dissipated and Haruta fled into the woods.
  • Madara appeared in Haruta’s path, pinned him against a rock face, and asked Kugisaki and Mai whether Itadori and Fushiguro were all right.
  • Madara repeatedly struck Haruta, causing several marks beneath Haruta’s eyes to disappear, then left for the forest while Kugisaki, Mai, and Utahime watched in shock.
  • Mai confirmed that Haruta was alive, and Utahime wondered whether Madara had come specifically to hunt him down.

Ch. 66Ancient Thunder

Four hundred years ago, Hajime Kashimo learned from Kenjaku that Ryomen Sukuna was stronger than him and made Sukuna his goal. Reincarnated in the present, Kashimo agreed to help Kenjaku retrieve Yuji Itadori, but arrived at the Goodwill Event battlefield as Satoru Gojo appeared and Madara Uchiha raced toward them.

  • Hajime Kashimo defeated the challengers who sought to prove themselves against him, then asked Kenjaku who was strongest and learned it was Ryomen Sukuna.
  • Hajime Kashimo accepted Kenjaku’s offer to awaken in the future so he could fight Sukuna, and vowed to kill Kenjaku afterward.
  • After reincarnating, Hajime Kashimo learned that Kenjaku needed him to bring back Yuji Itadori, whom Kenjaku called his son and a key to the Culling Game.
  • Hajime Kashimo descended into the forest battlefield and demanded that Yuji Itadori come with him while Aoi Todo and Yuji were fighting Hanami.
  • Satoru Gojo arrived as the Curtain shattered, while Madara Uchiha raced toward the battlefield.

Ch. 67Four sides

Hajime Kashimo attacked Yuji Itadori, but Aoi Todo used his position-swapping technique to save him and redirect Kashimo’s strike into Hanami. Todo and Itadori split up to stall Kashimo until Satoru Gojo arrived, while Kashimo prepared to pursue them.

  • Hajime Kashimo spotted Satoru Gojo but chose to focus on completing his mission to capture Yuji Itadori.
  • Kashimo rushed Itadori, but Aoi Todo clapped and swapped Itadori’s position with Hanami’s.
  • Kashimo’s Lightning Claw tore through Hanami’s chest and hurled the Special Grade Cursed Spirit into a rock wall.
  • Todo told Itadori to avoid fighting Kashimo directly and stall until Gojo arrived, then ran in another direction.
  • Itadori took a defensive stance as Kashimo unleashed more electricity and declared he would fight them properly.

Ch. 68Arrival

Satoru Gojo fired Hollow Purple at Kashimo and the battlefield, trusting Madara to protect Itadori and Todo. As Kashimo nearly killed Itadori, Madara struck him into a crater, while Hollow Purple reached the fighters.

  • Gojo judged that Kashimo’s charged attack threatened Itadori and Todo, then launched Hollow Purple toward the battlefield.
  • Todo scattered rubble as Boogie Woogie mediums, while Kashimo powered up and Hanami fled into the forest.
  • Kashimo caught up to Todo after he swapped with a stone, and Todo then swapped places with Itadori to create an opening.
  • Kashimo anticipated Todo’s plan and kept his killing punch aimed at Itadori, but Madara appeared and smashed Kashimo into the ground.
  • Todo swapped Itadori to safety as Hollow Purple arrived above the battlefield.

Ch. 69Reverse Cursed Technique

Madara forced Hajime Kashimo to take Hollow Purple head-on with him, then healed his own devastating injuries using Reverse Cursed Technique. Kashimo survived badly maimed and stared in disbelief as Madara stood fully restored.

  • Madara called to Aoi Todo, who used Boogie Woogie to move Itadori out of Hollow Purple's blast radius.
  • Madara grabbed Hajime Kashimo as he tried to dodge, trapping him in the path of Hollow Purple.
  • Hollow Purple detonated, leaving Madara and Kashimo severely injured while the blast threw Itadori and Aoi Todo to the ground.
  • Madara used Reverse Cursed Technique to heal all his injuries within seconds.
  • Hajime Kashimo watched Madara recover and realized the man was a monster.

Ch. 70No need to step in

Madara quickly healed after taking Hollow Purple and overwhelmed Hajime Kashimo, while Satoru Gojo left to pursue Hanami. Madara and Kashimo resumed their fight, with Kashimo preparing to test himself against Madara in close combat.

  • Aoi Todo marveled at Madara's fast Reverse Cursed Technique, and Itadori proudly attributed it to Madara being Madara.
  • Satoru Gojo arrived at the crater, but told Kashimo that Madara could handle him while he chased the fleeing Hanami.
  • Kashimo gathered lightning to prepare his Lightning Discharge, but Madara struck him before he could release it.
  • Gojo compared Madara's physical ability to Toji Fushiguro's, then departed to pursue Hanami.
  • Kashimo abandoned his plan to use Lightning Discharge and took a close-combat stance as Madara launched into their second round.

Ch. 71Close-quarters combat

Madara used his Sharingan and cursed energy to meet Hajime Kashimo in a fierce close-quarters battle, matching his lightning-fast attacks. As the fight continued, Aoi Todo persuaded Itadori to withdraw and regroup with the others, leaving Madara to face Kashimo alone.

  • Hajime Kashimo charged Madara at maximum speed and thrust a spear of compressed lightning at his chest.
  • Madara activated his Sharingan, read Kashimo's movements, and reinforced his body with cursed energy to intercept him.
  • Madara and Hajime Kashimo exchanged a rapid series of close-range attacks that shattered the ground around them.
  • Itadori tried to rush in and help Madara, but Aoi Todo stopped him and explained that he would only become a burden and a target.
  • Itadori agreed to regroup with Maki-senpai and the others, and he and Todo withdrew into the forest.

Ch. 72A relic of a bygone era

Madara ended his close-combat test against Hajime Kashimo by trapping him in the Heavenly Imperial Pillars domain and killing him with Limbo: Border Jail and a final blast of light. He took Kashimo’s corpse and headed toward the forest, where Satoru Gojo and Hanami had disappeared.

  • Hajime Kashimo grew excited by Madara’s strength and demanded to know his name, but Madara asked who Kashimo was.
  • After confirming Itadori and Todo had left and Sukuna was gone, Hajime Kashimo prepared to use his trump card while Madara activated his domain, Heavenly Imperial Pillars.
  • Hajime Kashimo used Hollow Wicker Basket to defend against the domain, but Madara entered Six Paths Mode and explained that Limbo: Border Jail could bypass the barrier.
  • Madara’s unseen attack interrupted Hajime Kashimo’s Mythical Beast Amber, and he killed Kashimo by channeling the domain’s light into him.
  • Madara took Hajime Kashimo’s corpse and vanished toward the forest, where Satoru Gojo and Hanami’s presences had disappeared.

Ch. 73A brief wrap-up

Madara and Satoru Gojo returned after defeating their opponents and told the injured students that the Goodwill Event was suspended. The students headed back to Jujutsu High, while Itadori tried to understand Todo’s sudden claim that they were best friends.

  • Madara met Satoru Gojo after both had defeated their opponents, and they headed back to the students.
  • Gojo told the gathered students that the Goodwill Event was suspended because the grounds were damaged, and Madara said he had something else to attend to.
  • Todo explained that the schools would likely arrange a replacement competition, and Itadori eagerly looked forward to fighting Kyoto Jujutsu High again.
  • Kugisaki and Fushiguro questioned Todo’s claim that he and Itadori had been best friends since middle school, leaving Itadori confused.
  • Maki led the injured students back toward Jujutsu High to receive treatment and await news about what would happen next.

Ch. 74Baseball

Madara failed to find any trace of Kenjaku and decided to use Itadori as bait to draw him out. At Jujutsu High, the staff replaced the damaged Goodwill Event with a baseball game after Satoru Gojo arranged a suspiciously convenient draw.

  • Madara searched the forest for Kenjaku, found no evidence he had been there, and concluded he would lure him out by making Itadori the bait.
  • Masamichi Yaga briefed the staff on the attack, the injured students, and the damage that prevented the Goodwill Event from continuing as planned.
  • Satoru Gojo presented a drawing box of replacement activities and persuaded Yoshinobu Gakuganji to draw baseball.
  • Yaga approved a goodwill baseball game for three days later, with Cursed Techniques and Cursed Energy reinforcement prohibited.
  • Mei Mei suggested betting on the game, while Utahime said she would bet on Tokyo Jujutsu High because of its luck.

Ch. 75The outcome was decided

Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High replaced their expected Goodwill Event with a baseball game, which Tokyo won 8–5. The students celebrated together as the event ended peacefully.

  • Utahime Iori explained the baseball rules, and Maki Zenin and Noritoshi Kamo captained their teams as Tokyo won the choice to bat first.
  • Yuji Itadori hit a three-run home run in the first inning, putting Tokyo Jujutsu High ahead 3–0.
  • Both teams traded hits through nine innings, but Tokyo held its lead and defeated Kyoto 8–5.
  • The students congratulated one another and celebrated Tokyo's win, while Masamichi Yaga watched and Yoshinobu Gakuganji accepted the result.
