Background / History

Naruto grows up being shunned as a monster, an experience he later recounts to Nagato. Meeting Iruka and forming Team 7 become central examples in his argument that suffering does not have to lead to hatred 142.

After graduating from the Academy, he joins an unusually large Team 7: Naruto, Sakura Haruno, Sasuke Uchiha, and specially assigned member Shengu Xuan, led by Kakashi Hatake. Naruto initially hopes to be paired with Sakura rather than Sasuke 5.

During the team’s introductions, he declares that he wants to surpass every Hokage and make the village acknowledge his existence. Kakashi privately recognizes him as the Fourth Hokage’s son 6.

Naruto is loud, impatient, and openly ambitious. He complains about Kakashi’s evasive introduction and dislikes even the three-minute wait for instant noodles. His favorite food is Ichiraku’s extra-large chashu ramen 6.

His determination can strengthen others’ resolve. During Ibiki’s tenth-question test, he refuses to abandon his ambitions despite the threatened permanent loss of exam eligibility. His declaration persuades wavering examinees to stay 35.

He is fiercely protective of his companions. Haku’s willingness to die for Zabuza moves him, while Sasuke’s defection leaves him determined to bring his teammate home even by force. Gaara’s apparent death provokes grief and anger at the treatment of jinchūriki 20 97 117.

Naruto’s optimism does not mean he is indifferent to his own weakness. Being called a burden pushes him to take chakra control seriously; failing to stop Sasuke motivates his two-year journey with Jiraiya. Shengu Xuan remains both someone he admires and a standard he wants to reach 21 102 111.
