The player used Mohg's Heart to suppress Morgott during their battle, but Morgott transformed into the machinery-fused Beelzebub, the Foolish. After the player and their allies defeated him, Morgott shared his final words and dissolved into golden motes.
After Morgott’s death, the player saw that Leyndell remained unchanged, then fought through the capital to reach the Elden Throne. Radagon appeared to serve as the final examiner, but Miquella sent him flying away, and Radagon cried that he was free.
Miquella sent the player to rescue Melina from Messmer at Mt. Gelmir, but the player first completed Vyke’s request to gather glintstones. After hearing Vyke’s account of losing the witch he loved, the player learned that his hesitation over choosing a god had cost him everything.
The player traveled toward Mt. Gelmir with Yhorm, witnessing the devastation in Windmill Village and rescuing Patches along the way. They reached the Bridge of Sacrifice, where the player fought through prisoners being taken to the volcano’s factory.
The player crossed the Volcano, defeated Old Knight Gaius and fought through Messmer’s guards before reaching Volcano Manor. After finding the castle strangely empty, the player explored deeper and finally encountered an NPC.
The Tarnished met Messmer, who refused to let them take Melina, and Sellen explained the prophecy and his distrust. After Messmer killed the Tarnished in one strike, they consulted a guide, equipped the Large Melina Doll, and showed it to Bernahl, acquiring a gesture.
The player obtained Messmer’s and the God-Devouring Great Serpent’s shed skins and had Old Enia turn them into a shield designed to withstand flames. After finding Melina hidden in Messmer’s shifting maze, the player learned that she intended to fulfill her fate while asking them to defeat her brother.
The player defeated Messmer with help from Yhorm, Vyke, and the Mimic Tear, while Messmer escaped the arena in a blaze and headed toward the Mountaintops of the Giants. After speaking with Melina, the player was invaded by Vyke, killed him, and heard his final warning before finding his corpse nearly penniless.
After learning of Vyke’s death, Bernahl gave the player the Devourer’s Scepter, and the player crossed the burning road to confront Messmer at the Mountaintops of the Giants. Messmer’s second phase transformed him into a nearly invulnerable Seraphim, leaving the player with only a brief parry window and an apparent requirement to win without taking a hit.
Yhorm sacrificed himself to suppress the Forge of the Giants’ flames, weakening Messmer and giving the player a chance to defeat him. Messmer accepted the prophecy’s meaning, hurled his spear toward the Erdtree, and disintegrated after asking for his sister.
The Tarnished entered Malenia’s dreamlike Land of Abundance and uncovered Millicent’s plan to release the Scarlet Rot that Malenia had been suppressing. After finding a hidden passage beneath the Tree Hollow, the Tarnished climbed into a coffin and flew onward toward Malenia.
The Tarnished fought Malenia in the dreamscape and learned that Miquella intended to exploit humanity’s corruption through scarlet rot. When Malenia demanded Millicent’s death, Ansbach broke free of Miquella’s charm and destroyed the figure disguised as Trina.
The Tarnished refused Shabriri’s offer of the Flame of Chaos, and Tracker intervened to save Millicent by taking her to the Manor. After Malenia departed and Scarlet Rot consumed the Dreamscape’s golden fields, the Tarnished found her final relic, Born to Die, at the Divine Tower of West Altus.
Miquella tried to persuade the player to accept his paradise, but Ansbach and Tracker condemned his plan as tyranny. After the player defeated Miquella’s puppet-filled giant, the world returned to Crumbling Farum Azula, where Trina’s and Melina’s first-encounter dialogues repeated.
The player broke free of Miquella’s endless dream by using Trina’s relic, then watched Melina confront Miquella over his plan to make everyone happy in dreams. Miquella rejected her argument and prepared to settle the dispute with force.
Melina sacrificed herself to awaken Hötter and replace Ancient Death, while Horace’s long plan left the Outer Gods weakened or supplanted. The player’s allies defeated Miquella, who survived and left the player with the means to face the final battle.
After Melina gave the player formal clothes, the player entered the Erdtree and met Horace, who offered an unfair battle as a test. The fight began against Horace and Rellana, leaving the player facing a familiar arena and two bosses wielding unusual greatswords.
The player fought Horace and Rellana under a barrage of restrictions that locked items, skills, and controls, then survived by using Hötter’s blessing to gain twelve lives. After Rellana retreated and Horace lost half his health, he froze time and attacked, but the Formless Mother’s Mark protected the player; Horace kept the battle going.
The player defeated Horace, obtained the Wild Hunt Ideology Rune, and received Hötter’s Cursed Sword before facing the choice of whether to ascend the throne. After exploring a disastrous Frenzied Flame ending, the player began another playthrough, where the story left them ready to return to the game again.
