Background / History

Rebirth and Family Loyalty

Lin Yuan is reborn into the Naruto world as an additional son of Fugaku and Mikoto. Initially expecting to be Sasuke, he realizes that “Uchiha Zongyan” never existed in the story he remembers. He takes his unexpected birth as evidence that the plot can change and resolves to prevent the Uchiha massacre 3.

By two, his adult comprehension and previous-life memories have earned him a reputation as a prodigy. He deliberately takes Itachi around the clan grounds, strengthening his brother’s attachment to ordinary Uchiha families while using seemingly innocent questions to draw attention to the village’s prejudice 4.

Zongyan witnesses Sasuke’s birth and, three months later, the Nine-Tails’ attack. Too young to intervene, he instead comforts Itachi after Minato and Kushina’s deaths, urging him to place family and clan first. This becomes Itachi’s guiding principle: while appearing loyal to Konoha’s leadership, he secretly passes intelligence to Fugaku 5 6 7.

Academy and the Bloodline Altar

At six, Zongyan enters the Ninja Academy and receives the Family Lottery System. His first draw produces the Fragmented Bloodline Altar, which he entrusts to Fugaku. They initially keep it secret even from Mikoto, Itachi, and Sasuke, placing it beneath the Clan Meeting Hall 7 8 9 12.

The encounter exposes the gaps in his combat skills and prompts him to request full-time instruction from four Uchiha Jōnin, with a shadow clone attending school in his place 15 18.

Police Service and Conflict with Danzō

After graduating, Zongyan chooses the Military Police Force rather than conspicuous field missions. Its regular schedule lets him continue training while concealing his true strength. Fugaku also arranges personnel to support his efforts to protect the clan 20 22 23.

During his first patrol, Zongyan arrests Danzō’s nephew, Shimura Hongyu, for refusing to pay a ramen shopkeeper and assaulting him. He refuses pressure from both Danzō and Hiruzen, arguing that personal connections cannot override village law. Hongyu’s eventual early release costs Danzō the permanent operating rights to a prime South Street shop, transferred to the Uchiha 24 25 26.

Zongyan then repeatedly targets Shimura wrongdoing through legally sound enforcement. Danzō responds by arranging a dangerous rogue-ninja mission outside Konoha. With Kiyoshi and Makoto secretly protecting the squad, Zongyan survives the resulting ambush and uses Murasame to kill the attackers 26 27 28 29.

Unifying and Resourcing the Clan

The mission’s target, former Anbu member Kawano Shinji, describes contradictory village policies that drove him to defect. Zongyan questions him rather than accepting the Academy’s portrayal of all missing-nin as villains. When Shinji offers allegations of Uchiha abductions and Danzō’s experiments with Orochimaru, Zongyan preserves him as a witness and arranges a false death report 31 32 33.

After the clan learns about the altar, Zongyan proposes a contribution-point system to allocate its monthly awakening. The elders expand the proposal to include exchanges for resources and techniques. He subsequently recommends establishing a covert foothold in the Land of Rice Fields to exploit his system-provided iron mine and supply future awakenings 36 38 39.

Opening the Demon Slayer World

Zongyan obtains the Multiverse Portal and uses an abandoned Fuma Clan base as his departure point. At Mount Fujikasane, he meets Tanjiro Kamado and identifies his destination as the Demon Slayer World 40 41 42.

He protects Tanjiro from the Hand Demon, exhausts its regeneration through repeated attacks, and kills it with Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade. Before returning, he captures another demon for Uchiha research and confirms that it survives interworld transport without visible abnormalities 44 45.

Zongyan later reveals the other world to Fugaku and Itachi. He proposes acquiring its resources through genjutsu-controlled rulers and controlling Muzan through Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami. These remain plans at this point; Fugaku agrees to accompany the brothers through the portal 48 49.

His adult memories support a calculating, cautious approach. He tests the system’s arrival for possible genjutsu, hides his real combat level, and uses the leadership’s own laws and concern for reputation against them. He is particularly willing to exploit Danzō’s ambitions and public image 8 20 26.

He combines compassion with a forceful belief in retaliation. He defends Naruto’s humanity and sympathizes with Shinji, yet advises violent resistance to bullying and readily kills enemies threatening his squad. Naruto’s later brutality unsettles him enough to question the consequences of his own advice 13 21 29 31.

Despite frequent inward jokes and complaints, Zongyan accepts demanding work when it serves his goals. He commits to an exhausting daily training schedule after recognizing that bloodline power alone cannot compensate for a narrow skill set 18.
