"Huh? Doesn't that mean there won't be any more Maze Exploration?"
"War Front? Sounds dangerous."
"If it's dangerous, just don't go."
"Fair enough."
"What should I do about this event? I still haven't gathered enough materials to upgrade my Shelter."
"I'm just one short. I can join the Site Mission later."
"I want to take a chance. Even if I can gather enough materials to advance my Shelter now, what about later? If I keep skipping nighttime events, the system will eliminate me sooner or later."
"You're right. I'll take a chance too!"
"I'll pass. I'll coast along for as long as I can."

After saying that, Lin Ye listed a dozen or so Simple Protective Items in the trading area.

"Nice. I didn't have any protective items."

"You're freaking awesome!"
Lin Ye: Help me test them. If they work well, I'll get some materials and make more.

"Going to fight a Tier-1 Mutated Creature right now."
"Did all of you actually get one? What's with all these 'rogers'?"
Lin Ye chose to join tonight's event, put on his equipment, and sat on the edge of his bed to wait for the countdown to end.
Unfortunately, there were no little animals to pet today.

Lin Ye woke on a circus stage. The stage and audience seats were deserted, and glaring lights shone on empty spaces.
He walked out of the tent into a deserted amusement park, with high-rises crowding the distance.
This was a corner of some city.
"What luck. I actually ran into a weakling who hasn't even reached Tier 1. Are you an inferior creature chosen by the system, or an idiot who came in to try his luck?"
A humanoid creature with a bird's head walked into the amusement park, a malicious smile on its avian face as it approached Lin Ye step by step.
As the distance between them shrank, Lin Ye silently adjusted his breathing and readied himself.
The bird-headed creature had two Mutation Organs, but their degree of mutation was mediocre, not even as good as that robed moron from last time.
Still, in case it had hidden tricks like runes, Lin Ye used his Mental Strength to monitor its every move.
The bird-headed creature, however, had no guard up against Lin Ye and swaggered toward him.
"You're too close."
An invisible blade slashed through Psionic Energy; a visible blade sliced through flesh.
Before his words had finished, the bird-headed creature fell to the ground, both its Mutation Organs severed.
[Enemy killed. All the enemy's items have entered the Loot Space. The loot will be transported to the Shelter after the Feast of Revelry ends] [Obtained Revelry Potion ×1]
The bird-headed creature's corpse disappeared, leaving nothing behind.
So that's how it works. A feast of revelry indeed.
Lin Ye slipped Red Blade back at his waist and picked up the potion bottle on the ground.
It contained roughly 200 milliliters of translucent orange-red potion, which glimmered orange inside the bottle.
Item information could only be viewed inside the Shelter, so Lin Ye did not know what this potion did.
Putting the potion away, Lin Ye went to the foot of the Ferris wheel. Its top was the highest point in the entire amusement park.
He found the control console and pulled the switch. The steel wheel, nearly two hundred meters tall, began to turn slowly.
Lin Ye boarded the Ferris wheel. Come to think of it, despite how often Ferris wheels appeared in all sorts of works, this was his first time riding one.
And he was alone, at that.
"This won't do. Riding a Ferris wheel by yourself is just too miserable."
Xiao Ye suddenly spoke.
At some point, Xiao Ye had taken the seat opposite Lin Ye.
"Why are you here? Is this the Mental World?"
Though he did not show it, Lin Ye was quite happy to see a friend in a place like this.
"Not yet. This is the Feast of Revelry, after all. Naturally, anything is possible."
Xiao Ye sat demurely in her seat, watching the scenery slowly rise outside the window.
"So I felt a little lonely riding the Ferris wheel alone, and you appeared?"
This time, Lin Ye truly felt a little pathetic. He had actually imagined a female friend similar to himself to keep him company on a Ferris wheel.
"No, I wanted to come keep you company."
Xiao Ye stood, sat down beside Lin Ye, and rested her head on his shoulder.
Lin Ye looked at the city outside the window, silently memorizing its layout. The quiet atmosphere gave him a sense of peace he had not felt in a long time.
"The academy, shopping street, hospital, sewers, theater, city center, and library. Those places are all very dangerous, but you have to choose one to occupy and hold out until dawn."
With her eyes closed, Xiao Ye spoke softly into Lin Ye's ear.
"Do you have any suggestions?"
Lin Ye preferred the library and theater and disliked the hospital and sewers, but he was willing to accept a friend's advice.
"The library's nice, but the theater suits this revelry better."
Xiao Ye cared more about Lin Ye's feelings than giving useful advice. She was no good girl.
"Then let's go to the theater. Should we go now, or wait until nearly dawn?"
Lin Ye almost never trusted others, but he was a little more partial to another version of himself.
"Go now. The place will become your lair. The longer you occupy it, the higher your chances of winning."
Xiao Ye took the Revelry Potion from Lin Ye and tasted a small sip.
"Ugh, that tastes awful."
Sticking out her tongue, she fed the rest of the potion to Lin Ye.
Lin Ye did not refuse. Since the system had given him the potion, he had to choose whether to drink it. Now Xiao Ye had made that choice for him.
The potion entered his mouth, and before he could taste it, an irresistible exhilaration spread through every cell in his body.
"Hehehe..."
Lin Ye laughed involuntarily. A feverish sensation ignited his nerves, setting his whole being ablaze.
Strangely, however, this frenzy did not affect his ability to think. Instead, it made his mind even clearer.
"Then it's goodbye for now."
Xiao Ye stood to say goodbye to Lin Ye.
"You're not coming with me?"
Lin Ye stood too and asked.
"It's not time for my entrance yet. A lady needs to prepare in advance. Don't worry. Since we've started our date, I won't leave halfway through."
The Ferris wheel completed one rotation, and Lin Ye stepped out of the gondola alone, ending his first ride.
