Background / History

Arrival and the Abyss Box

Lin Ye begins doomsday survival in an apartment shelter with only the clothes he arrived in. His first use of the D-Class Personnel Simulator puts him into Kenneth’s body aboard a prison transport, heading toward a villa containing lethal anomalies 1 4.

Repeated deaths reveal that entering the villa first is fatal and that the captain’s apparent instructions cannot be trusted. Lin Ye eventually closes the black box inside the villa, ending the mission with six attempts remaining. His rewards include six random items, one use of the Abyss Box, and the title Savior 2 3.

He selects a red card box from the Abyss Box’s offerings. Its first summoned creature is a goose that supplies one serving of goose leg rice per day—the source of his later nickname. He then joins Maze Exploration to obtain supplies and discover how to upgrade his shelter 4.

The Time Tunnel

While simulating Larry, Lin Ye enters a tunnel with an Abyssal Egg supplied by his card assistance. He discovers that the tunnel loops through time and that the monster encountered earlier is his own mutated body from another point in the loop 7 8 9.

He uses successive attempts to study mutation, communicate with other versions of himself, and investigate the Abyss. The experience teaches him that the Abyss Consciousness can influence him across both time and space. After the tunnel mission, he integrates a Time Rule Fragment into his talent, gaining a single real-world death-rewind opportunity 10 11 12.

Shelter Development and the Research Institute

Lin Ye gathers mutation organs, trades with other survivors, and upgrades his shelter to Tier 1, unlocking water, electricity, gas, and item inspection 13 15.

During an underground institute simulation, he helps Hans and Neil retrieve Dr. Caroline, her research, and specimens. He defeats Red-haired Caroline after accidentally discovering that his prototype blade releases energy in response to his voice. The mission ends without consuming an attempt and rewards him with the Human Evolution Map, Dr. Caroline’s Gift, and All or Nothing. He cannot decipher the map’s technical research 18 20.

The Ruins Site Mission

Lin Ye joins Li Ji, Zhao Yong, and Xu Min on a bus-based Site Mission. He persuades them to disembark at ruins populated by Blood Corpses, judging those enemies more manageable than the hazards at previous stops 22.

After looting a gun shop and killing a Sheep-Headed Monster, he brings weapons to the group’s supermarket refuge. The overnight defense pushes his psionic control forward, but his sweeping attack leaves him exhausted just before a Tier-1 girl attacks. Using a Life-Saving Injection, he breaks her barrier and gravely wounds her with the mutated CL0 Pistol; his teammates help finish the fight 24 25 26 27.

Consciousness Experiment and Divine Seat

In a later simulation, Lin Ye inhabits Jason and becomes trapped in an apparently endless Red Maze. A consciousness entity named Xiao Ye explains that the organization is studying him through the Class-D bodies he occupies. She teaches him the Protection Rune before the maze collapses 30 31.

Another mission strands him on a road of churches whose inhabitants insist that he choose a god. Unable to manufacture genuine faith, he seeks another escape and jumps backward into the Abyss. He subsequently encounters the Saintess and completes the mission with the Polluted Divine Seat and the title God 36 37.

Feast of Revelry and Later Exploration

During the Feast of Revelry, Xiao Ye reunites with Lin Ye and recommends occupying the theater. He turns it into a rune-defended stronghold, only to learn that the event has designated him the Main Course for a Banquet Guest. Xiao Ye kills the guest, strengthens the theater, and dances with Lin Ye as the world collapses. Before they part, she gives him a Seed of the Mind 39 40 41 42.

A cruise-ship simulation then forces him to investigate shifting corridors, memory loss, and rooms containing lethal anomalies. After realizing that the people entering the ship affect its room arrangement, he leaves his companions outside and follows Gugu’s notifications to recover the organization’s briefcase 44 45 46 47.

By the fog-shrouded town exploration, Lin Ye is investigating unusually weak, grotesque mutations alongside Zhou Wen, Hu Tingting, and Xu Changnian. He suspects human intervention and uses hospital records and reports of a preceding fever outbreak to piece together the town’s situation 50.

Personality

Lin Ye is cautious without being passive. He prepares equipment before entering events, tests unfamiliar effects, and avoids unnecessary changes to dangerous anomalies. He nevertheless joins the first nighttime exploration because missing shelter-upgrade opportunities could leave him permanently behind other survivors 4 11 13.

His willingness to help others is practical rather than self-sacrificing. He publishes useful survival information both to improve others’ chances and to establish a reputation that benefits future trades. He blocks people who demand free supplies and openly dislikes wasting time 6 7.

Repeated simulated deaths improve his composure without making him fearless. Early dismemberment leaves him panicked; later, he calmly fights Blood Corpses because they seem manageable beside the simulator’s anomalies. He still experiences fear when his senses fail or his available attempts appear insufficient 2 5 29 46.

He rarely trusts others, but makes an exception for Xiao Ye because of their shared nature. Although capable of lethal force, he explicitly does not enjoy killing people and treats violence as a solution circumstances often force upon him 31 39 40.

D-Class Personnel Simulator

• Daily mission: Randomly simulates one Class-D personnel member undertaking a mission each day 12.
• Death resets: Documented missions begin with ten attempts; dying returns him to an earlier starting point while reducing the remaining count 1 2.
