Chapters 326–350 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 326Creating an opening

Lu Heng fought the Insect Queen at close range, using Blood Taisui to repair his injuries and Greedy Wolf Power to drain the creature’s strength. He defeated it with a Mental Energy strike, then collapsed against the cave wall to reset his broken arm.

  • Lu Heng fired the Kiss of Nightmare at the Insect Queen, but it charged and knocked the gun from his hands.
  • The Insect Queen broke Lu Heng’s left arm, while Blood Taisui began repairing it and he pressed himself against the creature.
  • Lu Heng used Greedy Wolf Power to drain the Insect Queen as he traded blows with it and damaged its carapace.
  • The Insect Queen feinted, knocked Lu Heng down, and raised its forelimbs to pin him.
  • Lu Heng unleashed his Mental Energy, froze the Insect Queen, and watched it collapse.
  • Lu Heng sat against the rock wall and reset his broken arm as Blood Taisui slowed from exhaustion.

Ch. 327Thanks

After killing the Insect Queen, Lu Heng received Frost Forest’s thanks and recovered from his injuries by absorbing the creature’s remaining strength. He collected the rewards and decided to use the intact Insect Queen corpse to make a Bone Demon.

  • Lu Heng finished off the wounded Insect Queen and received Frost Forest’s thanks, along with a frozen wooden gift box.
  • Lu Heng used Blood Taisui to heal while Greedy Wolf Power absorbed the dead Insect Queen’s remaining strength.
  • Lu Heng dismantled the breeding Insect Queen’s corpse and stored its materials and the treasure chest that appeared beneath it.
  • Lu Heng examined the intact Insect Queen’s body and decided it would make a better Bone Demon than an Insect Armor Warrior.

Ch. 328Black Spirit Ginseng

Lu Heng raised the Insect Queen as a powerful Bronze Tier Bone Demon and recovered a Silver Tier Black Spirit Ginseng from the nest. After mapping and sealing the tunnels, he left the forest, where wildlife had begun returning to feed on the dead insects, and headed home.

  • Lu Heng used the scroll to turn the Insect Queen's corpse into a Bone Demon with a Bronze Tier limit and a Silver foundation.
  • Lu Heng found and carefully dug up a Black Spirit Ginseng, planning to cultivate it in the Planting Room.
  • Lu Heng used Blood Taisui to navigate out of the nest, then ordered the Bone Demon to seal its entrance.
  • Lu Heng saw deer and boars eating insect corpses and realized the forest was beginning to recover.
  • Lu Heng left the wildlife undisturbed and set off for home with the Bone Demon.

Ch. 329Goodwill

After destroying the Insect Nest, Lu Heng returned to the Cliffside Shelter and found the Frost Forest’s creatures grateful and docile. He finished his post-battle preparations and entered the Astrology Room to open the two treasure chests he had earned.

  • Lu Heng left the restored Frost Forest with the Insect Queen Bone Demon and decided to leave the forest’s animals unharmed from then on.
  • Lu Heng returned safely to the Cliffside Shelter and saw reports that the Insect Tide had receded, but kept quiet about his role in ending the disaster.
  • Lu Heng planted the Black Spirit Ginseng in the Planting Room and let the reluctant Blood-Devouring Vine remain there.
  • Lu Heng finished the post-battle cleanup and went to the Astrology Room to examine the Insect Queen treasure chest and the Frost Forest’s gift.
  • Lu Heng summoned the two exclusive treasure chests from his Wristband Space.

Ch. 330Forest

Lu Heng opened the Insect Queen and Frost Forest treasure chests, gaining powerful tools and learning that the forest would fully unseal with the third cataclysm. He left the Astrology Room with several decisions still pending, including which insect species to bind and where to claim permanent territory.

  • Lu Heng opened the Insect Queen's chest and gained the Insect Control Technique, but chose to delay binding an insect species until he could study them.
  • Lu Heng received an Insect Armor Sword and an Insect Nest, which would support the swarm he eventually chose to control.
  • Lu Heng opened the Gift of Frost Forest and found a bestiary, then learned that the forest was only half unsealed and would fully open when the third cataclysm arrived.
  • Lu Heng obtained a Permanent Territory Certificate and decided to consider its location carefully before claiming land.
  • Lu Heng acquired a Moonlight Tree seed, dismantled the chests for materials, reviewed his rewards, and left the Astrology Room for the balcony.

Ch. 331Moonview Valley

Lu Heng chose Moonview Valley as his new territory and exchanged his obsolete equipment at the Starlight Altar for an Arrow Tower design. The Blood Taisui reacted with fear and curiosity to the altar’s starlight as Lu Heng prepared to begin developing his new home.

  • Lu Heng reviewed the Frost Forest map and chose defensible, resource-rich Moonview Valley as his territory.
  • Lu Heng cleared damaged equipment and obsolete supplies from his Storage Space.
  • Lu Heng placed the discarded gear on the Starlight Altar and wished for resources useful to his new territory.
  • The Blood Taisui recoiled from the starlight but also yearned to explore and absorb its energy.
  • The altar transformed the discarded supplies into an Arrow Tower design, which Lu Heng picked up.

Ch. 332A message

Lu Heng went to Lakeside Base to see Song Yunzhong and his sister off, but found the apartment empty and saw his sister working at the military base. He chose not to intervene and headed for Moonview Valley to establish his territory.

  • Lu Heng remembered his promise to see Song Yunzhong and the others off and teleported to Lakeside Base.
  • The Water-Covering Vine greeted Lu Heng at the lake, and he fed it Mental Energy before heading into the city.
  • Lu Heng found Song Yunzhong's apartment empty and left the unreadable note behind.
  • Blood Taisui informed Lu Heng that a city threat had likely advanced to Silver Tier, but he decided the military base could handle it.
  • Lu Heng used the King Snake to locate Song Yunzhong's younger sister unloading supplies at the military base, then chose not to help her.
  • Lu Heng left the base and set off for Moonview Valley to choose a territory site and plant the Moonlight Tree seed.

Ch. 333Relocation

Lu Heng tested the Insect Armor Sword on four Agility Zombies, then traveled to Moonview Valley to relocate his Shelter. He settled it beside the lake, where it stood intact but fully exposed on the valley floor.

  • Lu Heng killed four Agility Zombies with the Insect Armor Sword and adjusted his fighting style to suit the weapon.
  • Lu Heng returned through the Portal to Frost Forest, where animals gathered around him as he walked toward Moonview Valley.
  • Lu Heng surveyed Moonview Valley and chose the buffer zone between the lakeshore and the natural rock wall for his Shelter.
  • Lu Heng used the Permanent Territory Certificate to relocate his exclusive territory and Shelter to the marked area.
  • Lu Heng inspected the relocated Shelter, found its fence, walls, doors, windows, and facilities intact, and went inside.

Ch. 334Acceptance

Lu Heng planted the Moonlight Tree and moved the Blood-Devouring Vine, realizing it needed fresh corpses to restore its hunting instincts. When the Wolf King gathered the woodland beasts to ask for help eliminating the surviving Insect Mothers, Lu Heng agreed and led them into Frost Forest to destroy the nests and obtain nourishment for the vine.

  • Lu Heng planted the Moonlight Tree in the Planting Room and transplanted the Blood-Devouring Vine to a secondary plot.
  • Lu Heng noticed the vine had grown docile from feeding on stellar energy and decided it needed fresh, high-quality corpses to awaken its ferocity.
  • Lu Heng received a Wristband notification that many beasts had gathered at Moonview Valley's entrance.
  • The Wolf King told Lu Heng that surviving Insect Mothers were breeding underground and asked him to help eliminate them before the insects devastated Frost Forest.
  • Lu Heng agreed to join the beasts, and he, the Bone Demon, and the assembled creatures set out toward the Insect Mothers' nests.

Ch. 335Breaking the Spirit

Lu Heng and the Bone Demon breached the hidden Insect Nest in Frost Forest and crushed the Insect Mother’s hastily made defenders. The Insect Mother lost control after recognizing the Bone Demon as the Insect Queen, and Lu Heng prepared to enter the nest and finish it off.

  • Lu Heng located the dormant Insect Mother beneath the forest and blasted open the entrance to its nest.
  • The beasts surrounding the nest killed the larvae that tried to escape while the Bone Demon destroyed the Insect Mother’s emergency Insect Armor Warriors.
  • The Insect Mother recognized the Bone Demon as the Insect Queen and broke down in rage and confusion as it watched the Bone Demon slaughter its offspring.
  • Lu Heng revealed that the Bone Demon had been made from the Insect Queen’s corpse and prepared to confront the Insect Mother, whose body he intended to use to awaken the Blood-Devouring Vine.

Ch. 336Getting the worse of it

Lu Heng found Green Bone Grass in the first Insect Nest, then tracked down a second nest and defeated its Green Scythe Mantis after struggling to keep up with its reckless close-range attacks. He killed the depleted Insect Mother and left with its corpse and a treasure chest.

  • Lu Heng found and stored Green Bone Grass in the first Insect Nest, then collected the dead Insect Mother's body to use for the Blood-Devouring Vine.
  • After the beasts cleared the surface insects, Lu Heng headed toward the forest's edge to search for another nest.
  • Lu Heng encountered a Green Scythe Mantis and tested his bladework, but its speed and reckless attacks overwhelmed his orderly fighting style.
  • Lu Heng used Mind Spike to freeze the Green Scythe Mantis and killed it with his Insect Armor Sword.
  • Lu Heng entered the second nest, killed its exhausted Insect Mother, and took the treasure chest and its corpse with him.

Ch. 337Vehicle

Lu Heng eliminated the remaining Insect Mothers in Frost Forest, ending the insect calamity ahead of schedule and restoring the region’s ecosystem. He received an all-terrain motorcycle as a bonus reward, then practiced riding it in Moonview Valley.

  • Lu Heng killed the Poison-Type Insect Mother in a cave and the cautious Insect Mother hiding beneath a hillside, clearing the remaining nests in Frost Forest.
  • The symbiotic state ended peacefully as the beasts returned to their own territories, and Lu Heng returned to Moonview Valley with Bone Demon.
  • Lu Heng fed the collected Insect Mother corpses to the Blood-Devouring Vine, awakening its bloodthirsty nature.
  • Lu Heng received a system announcement that the insect calamity had ended ahead of schedule and the regional ecological lockdown had been lifted.
  • Lu Heng claimed an all-terrain off-road motorcycle, powered it with an Insect Crystal, and practiced riding it around Moonview Valley.

Ch. 338Environment

Lu Heng put away his motorcycle, planted seeds and reviewed his supplies in Moonview Valley, then prepared a housewarming feast and meditated. Overnight, the Frost Forest expanded and Moonview Valley rose in tier, leaving Lu Heng stunned by the transformed landscape.

  • Lu Heng tested the motorcycle around Moonview Valley, found the rough terrain unsuitable for riding, and stored it in his Wristband Space.
  • Lu Heng opened the Insect Nest treasure chests and received Mutated Cold Plum Tree seeds, Mutated Secluded Valley Orchid seeds, a Canned Food Sealing Blueprint, and high-grade insect silk.
  • Lu Heng directed the Puppets to plant the cold plum trees along the valley entrance slopes and spread the secluded valley orchids across the valley floor.
  • Lu Heng checked the Moonlight Tree sapling, then prepared and ate a housewarming feast with the Puppets.
  • Lu Heng meditated in the Astrology Room as the Frost Forest silently expanded overnight.
  • Lu Heng woke to find Moonview Valley nearly twice its former size, with a wider entrance, more open valley floor, and newly visible trails and mountains.

Ch. 339New Neighbors

After Moonview Valley expanded overnight, Lu Heng examined its new land and the Frost Forest’s unfamiliar creatures and paths. He decided to scout the forest and assess his new neighbors without provoking them, preparing to investigate without the Bone Demon.

  • Lu Heng saw that Moonview Valley had expanded, forming a waterfall, a larger lake, and a longer stream.
  • Lu Heng found that the Winter Plum and Secluded Valley Orchid seeds had sprouted overnight in the newly formed land.
  • Lu Heng surveyed the expanded Frost Forest and decided not to hunt its unfamiliar beasts, but to learn their habits and boundaries.
  • Lu Heng entered the forest and found new paths winding through unfamiliar belts of woods, then walked them to map the routes and potential ambush sites.
  • Lu Heng returned to Moonview Valley and prepared to investigate the forest without bringing the Bone Demon.

Ch. 340Stepping in

Lu Heng patrolled the newly expanded Frost Forest, noting its changing territories and ecology. After he helped the gray wolves kill a Raven Cuckoo that had taken one of their cubs, he returned toward Moonview Valley with information to plan its defenses.

  • Lu Heng rode through the expanded forest, encountered the gray wolf pack, and found that the increased birdsong came from birds thriving in the enlarged woodland.
  • Lu Heng heard howling, hid his motorcycle, and discovered a Bronze Tier Raven Cuckoo had killed a wolf cub and was taunting the pack from a tree.
  • Lu Heng sent King Snake to attack the Raven Cuckoo, and King Snake killed it with its coils, venom, and Mind Spike.
  • The Alpha Wolf recognized Lu Heng’s scent, while Lu Heng stayed hidden and left as the wolves gathered around the fallen bird.
  • Lu Heng finished scouting the new territory, then rode back toward Moonview Valley to plan security arrangements.

Ch. 341Decision

Lu Heng inspected Moonview Valley after its expansion, finding fertile land, new plants, a waterfall, and an ecosystem protected by his territory’s rules. As battles erupted throughout Frost Forest amid an ecological reshuffling, he took up the Insect Armor Sword and decided to investigate the forest’s future top tier.

  • Lu Heng returned to Moonview Valley, checked the Blood-Devouring Vine, and found that it had killed a small animal on its own.
  • Lu Heng searched the expanded valley, inspecting a rock fissure, dense shrubs, and a waterfall with indistinct tracks nearby.
  • Lu Heng found native fruit trees and medicinal herbs growing on the newly fertile slopes.
  • Lu Heng tested the lake and confirmed that its fish and shrimp were healthy and that his territory’s suppression kept high-tier aquatic beasts out.
  • Lu Heng heard widespread battles among beasts and birds across Frost Forest and recognized that the forest’s ecosystem was being reshuffled.
  • Lu Heng drew the Insect Armor Sword and prepared to investigate the forest’s future top tier.

Ch. 342Struggle

Lu Heng watched a territorial battle between the forest beasts and a raven-led flock of eagles and hawks, deciding he could not intervene without provoking the outsiders against Moonview Valley. The birds began wearing down the ground beasts by targeting vulnerable wolves, and the battle remained unresolved.

  • Lu Heng and Bone Demon crept to a hillside and watched Bronze Tier beasts face off against a raven and its flock in the newly expanded woodland.
  • Lu Heng concluded that intervening on behalf of the ground beasts would make the raven view him as an expansionist and threaten Moonview Valley.
  • The raven cried out, and an eagle attacked the wolves, killing a half-grown wolf and prompting the ground beasts to brace for battle.
  • The eagles repeatedly targeted smaller, isolated wolves while evading Black-Eyed Bear and Ghost Tiger, leaving the pack in chaos and its allies wounded.
  • The raven watched from a broken log as the birds killed three half-grown wolves and continued wearing down the ground beasts.

Ch. 343An Unmerited Disaster

Lu Heng and the Bone Demon were targeted by the raven and its birds of prey after they scented the Insect Queen on the Bone Demon. Lu Heng prepared to fight back, having secretly surrounded the clearing with the Blood Taisui’s mycelium.

  • Lu Heng arrived at the standoff, and the birds of prey noticed the Insect Queen’s scent on the Bone Demon.
  • The raven called to its companions, and the eagles and hawks turned their attention toward Lu Heng and the Bone Demon.
  • The raven approached while the birds circled and planned to seize the Bone Demon; the other beasts withdrew to give Lu Heng room.
  • Lu Heng spread the Blood Taisui’s mycelium across the ground, trees, and canopy, enclosing the clearing without the birds noticing.
  • The raven lunged at the Bone Demon, and Lu Heng drew his sword as the mycelium encirclement closed.

Ch. 344Surrounded for the Kill

Lu Heng trapped a flock of birds in Blood Taisui’s mycelium net and used its heat, his mental power, and the Insect Armor Sword to defeat them. After collecting their Energy Cores, he returned to Moonview Valley with Bone Demon.

  • Lu Heng stopped the birds’ attack with his mental power, then revealed that Blood Taisui’s mycelium had surrounded the clearing.
  • Lu Heng heated the sealed clearing with his mental power, forcing the birds to charge him in desperation.
  • Lu Heng fought off the flock and killed its Bronze Tier leader, the raven, with the Insect Armor Sword.
  • Lu Heng ordered Blood Taisui to tighten the net, which bound the surviving birds and cleared the battlefield.
  • Lu Heng collected the Energy Cores and returned to Moonview Valley with Bone Demon.

Ch. 345Forest Consciousness

After the Forest Will warned Lu Heng that he had killed too many birds and explained the rules governing territorial wondrous items, it revealed another item hidden beneath the waterfall in Moonview Valley. Lu Heng retrieved the Frost Talisman, gained a Frost Seed alongside his High heat ability, and went to sleep considering how to earn the forest’s favor.

  • Lu Heng meditated and received a warning from the Forest Will for wiping out birds needed for the Frost Forest’s ecological succession.
  • The Forest Will recognized the Geothermal Talisman fused into Lu Heng’s Talent, set terms for his use of wondrous items, and revealed a hidden item beneath Moonview Valley’s waterfall.
  • Lu Heng dived into the pool and retrieved an icy-blue special-environment treasure chest containing the Frost Talisman.
  • The Frost Talisman merged a Frost Seed beside Lu Heng’s Talent core, adding frost to his Temperature abilities.
  • Lu Heng tested the frost power, saw it crack stone from within, and returned to the Shelter to rest.

Ch. 346Zombie tide

After finding the Lakeside Base’s Water-Covering Vine had advanced to Bronze tier, Lu Heng heard artillery fire and discovered a huge wild zombie horde besieging the military camp. Worried about Song Yunzhou and his sister, he crept toward the camp to check whether they were safe.

  • Lu Heng left Moonview Valley and returned through the Portal to the Lakeside Base.
  • The Bronze-tier Water-Covering Vine asked Lu Heng for energy, took an Energy Core, and plunged into the lake.
  • Lu Heng heard artillery fire from the military camp, rode toward it, and found a vast zombie horde surrounding the camp.
  • Lu Heng detected several Bronze-tier mutated zombies but could not find the Silver-tier zombie the Blood Taisui had mentioned.
  • Thinking of Song Yunzhou and his sister, Lu Heng decided to enter the besieged camp and stealthily approached through the ruins and weeds.

Ch. 347Missing

Lu Heng entered the military district and found Song Yunjing alone and in distress in the Fortress safe zone. As she told him that Song Yunzhong had been taken for research and had vanished, two hostile men arrived to claim her for their boss, leaving Lu Heng standing between them and Song Yunjing.

  • Lu Heng bypassed the heavily shelled front and slipped into the military district, where he located Song Yunjing in the Fortress safe zone.
  • Lu Heng found Song Yunjing terrified and alone in a hut, and calmed her with his mental energy.
  • Song Yunjing told Lu Heng that troops had taken Song Yunzhong away to study his ability to control zombies, then left her without support.
  • Song Yunjing said the children had also been taken away and that she had not seen her brother since his first days in the laboratory.
  • Two men entered the hut and threatened Lu Heng, saying their boss wanted Song Yunjing, while Lu Heng shielded her.

Ch. 348Leave no one alive

Lu Heng rescued Song Yunjing from men sent to seize her, then searched the camp for information about Song Yunzhong. He learned that the head of the Logistics Department had arranged trouble for Song Yunjing and possibly planned to make her disappear.

  • Lu Heng killed the two men who had come to take Song Yunjing and drained the two guards with the Blood Taisui's mycelium.
  • After Song Yunjing said everyone in the area had bullied her, Lu Heng ordered the Blood Taisui to close the gates and leave no one alive.
  • Lu Heng took Song Yunjing to the Logistics Department and questioned a supply clerk who reacted with panic when he heard her name.
  • The clerk told Lu Heng that the head of the Logistics Department had arranged for people to harass Song Yunjing and might have planned to make her disappear.

Ch. 349Still alive

Lu Heng and Song Yunjing fought their way into the logistics office’s hidden laboratory after learning Song Yunzhong was being held there for experiments. They found Song Yunjing’s brother alive but chained to a bed, and he told her he had thought she was dead.

  • Lu Heng forced the logistics director’s relative to reveal that Song Yunzhong was imprisoned in the laboratory, then killed him and the woman in the room.
  • Lu Heng stopped himself from killing the onlookers when Song Yunjing asked him not to, then overpowered the guards at the laboratory door.
  • Lu Heng broke into the laboratory, killed the armed staff, and searched the rooms for Song Yunzhong.
  • Lu Heng found a hidden basement and smashed through its reinforced door with the Insect Armor Sword.
  • Song Yunjing found Song Yunzhong chained to a bed and tearfully called him brother; he recognized her and said he had thought she was dead.

Ch. 350Severed finger

Lu Heng found Song Yunzhong imprisoned, mutilated, and drained by a military district official who had taken his Corpse-Control Ring and exploited his zombie-controlling ability. After using flesh-and-blood essence to stabilize Song Yunzhong, Lu Heng decided to take him and Song Yunjing out of the military district.

  • Lu Heng examined Song Yunzhong and saw that his right index finger had been deliberately severed to take the Corpse-Control Ring.
  • Song Yunzhong told Lu Heng that a local higher-up had deceived him, confined him, repeatedly experimented on him, and stolen his ring and ability.
  • Song Yunjing wept silently beside her brother while Lu Heng chose not to offer empty comfort.
  • Lu Heng gave Song Yunzhong flesh-and-blood essence, which restored some of his strength but could not repair his severed finger or deeper physical and mental damage.
  • Lu Heng concluded they could not remain in the military district and told Song Yunzhong and Song Yunjing he would get them out.
