Ch. 76Just take the exam and be done with it

Bieshu Feifan passed the Chunin exam’s written test by filling his answers with praise for his Hokage brother, then discovered his ordinary combat abilities were weaker than he expected. After Kakashi qualified and Might Duy was eliminated, Bieshu Feifan decided to focus on raising his stats and wrote to Orochimaru.

  • Kakashi defeated the Nara and Yamanaka boys, qualified for the finals, and became a chunin at six.
  • Bieshu Feifan treated Might Duy, Might Guy, and Kakashi to barbecue, and Kakashi thanked him before leaving.
  • Bieshu Feifan went home and wrote another letter to Orochimaru, resolving to raise his stats because his combat intelligence was only average.

Ch. 77Go check on Kushina

Bieshu Feifan investigated Kushina Uzumaki’s home, suspecting she was about to become the next jinchūriki, but his disguised shadow clones were discovered and pursued. After confirming the Nine-Tails was not yet inside Kushina, he learned Hiruzen Sarutobi had ordered her taken to Mito Uzumaki, and sent new clones to keep watch.

Ch. 78Another deal

Bieshu Feifan tried to obtain chakra from Mito Uzumaki’s remains but could not find her coffin among the sealed graves in the Senju Cemetery. While Hiruzen Sarutobi quietly assembled forces around the cemetery, Orochimaru arrived to dig up the same coffin after receiving Bieshu’s offer of information about the Rinnegan.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi surrounded the Senju Cemetery at daybreak and found Orochimaru prying open a sealed coffin with a shovel.

Ch. 79A Nostalgic Old Man

Bieshu Feifan stole Mito Uzumaki’s coffin during a fight between Hiruzen Sarutobi and Orochimaru, then escaped Konoha and used Wood Release to open it. He absorbed Mito Uzumaki’s vast chakra and believed it could raise his strength to the top tier of the Shinobi World.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi caught Orochimaru digging up a grave, and the two fought as Shinobi gathered at the battlefield.
  • Bieshu Feifan disguised a Shadow Clone as Danzo, took Mito Uzumaki’s coffin during the distraction, and fled with it.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi stopped fighting Orochimaru, recognized that the thief was not Danzo, and had Orochimaru imprisoned after learning he had been searching for Nawaki’s body.
  • Bieshu Feifan hid the coffin, received Orochimaru’s advice on bypassing Konoha’s barrier and opening the seal, then escaped the village.
  • Bieshu Feifan used Wood Release to open Mito Uzumaki’s coffin and absorbed her immense chakra.

Ch. 80Live as Happily as You Can

  • Bieshu Feifan went to the Hokage’s Office, teased Hiruzen Sarutobi about his paperwork, claimed he had mastered Wind Release, and demanded the forbidden techniques Hiruzen owed him.

Ch. 81Turning the tables in the Hokage's Office

Bieshu Feifan tried to trade a book for access to Konoha’s Forbidden Techniques, but Hiruzen Sarutobi fooled him with a scroll of nonsense. After deciding to steal what he wanted, Bieshu Feifan disguised himself as an old woman and lured Obito away from the road, leaving Obito terrified and calling for help.

  • Bieshu Feifan beat up a Uchiha who had been lurking outside his home, took his money, and resolved to steal the Forbidden Techniques instead.
  • Bieshu Feifan disguised himself as an old woman and persuaded Obito Uchiha to escort him far from the village road.
  • Bieshu Feifan revealed himself and called Obito Uchiha his companion, Uchiha Bandit, while Obito struggled and cried for help.

Ch. 82The more absurd, the more reasonable

Bieshu Feifan staged an absurd encounter that convinced Obito Uchiha he was a monster hunted by Zhurong Armor and that the Scroll of Seals could hide his aura. He then persuaded Asuma Sarutobi to steal the Scroll of Seals by promising to help him marry Kurenai Yuhi, and waited for a chance to act without raising Hiruzen Sarutobi’s suspicions.

  • Bieshu Feifan used Shadow Clones to stage Zhurong Armor attacking Obito Uchiha and a monster granny, who told Obito to find a Scroll of Seals technique that could hide a monster’s aura.
  • Obito Uchiha believed the granny’s warning and became determined to obtain the Scroll of Seals so he could stay in Konoha with Rin Nohara.
  • Bieshu Feifan approached Asuma Sarutobi with a forged-looking marriage contract claiming Kurenai Yuhi was engaged to him on the Daimyō’s orders.

  • Bieshu Feifan decided to wait until Hiruzen Sarutobi left the Hokage’s Office and planned to reinforce Obito Uchiha’s and Asuma Sarutobi’s resolve through suggestion.

Ch. 83The persona was a great success

Obito Uchiha and Asuma Sarutobi’s attempts to sneak into the Hokage’s Office created chaos while Bieshu Feifan’s shadow clones stole the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and Flying Thunder God. After training in seclusion for over ten days, Bieshu heard that the Uchiha were investigating the incidents but had not suspected him.

  • Obito Uchiha tried to enter the Hokage Building through a second-floor window and was caught by Anbu, while Asuma Sarutobi’s clones distracted guards as Bieshu Feifan’s clone entered the secret chamber.
  • Bieshu Feifan’s clone memorized the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and Flying Thunder God before Anbu destroyed it, and Hiruzen Sarutobi had Obito and Asuma beaten after questioning them.

  • Might Duy and Might Guy told Bieshu Feifan that Hiruzen Sarutobi and the Uchiha were investigating the thefts and questioning ninjutsu users.
  • Bieshu Feifan learned that Kakashi said the Uchiha had never suspected him, then decided to continue practicing ninjutsu.

Ch. 84A new understanding of the Uchiha

  • Bieshu Feifan gave up studying Flying Thunder God, while the Konoha F4 ended its investigation by reclaiming Uchiha land, imposing compensation, and reinstating Danzo.
  • Bieshu Feifan mastered Multiple Shadow Clones, brought food to Might Duy, and began training clones while researching armor that combined Wood Release and Magnet Release.
  • Bieshu Feifan challenged Uchiha Fugaku in the forest while wearing armor, and Fugaku’s genjutsu failed to affect him.
  • Bieshu Feifan used fire attacks and the armored Shadow Clone to test his defenses, but Fugaku eventually broke the armor and destroyed the clone.

Ch. 85Lord Hokage's Peculiar Tastes

Bieshu Feifan searched Konoha Hospital’s Morgue for useful corpses, then helped expose Hiruzen Sarutobi as the hospital’s mysterious pervert without realizing who he was. After Hiruzen escaped and Might Duy was arrested as a scapegoat, Bieshu Feifan took Might Guy to confront the Hokage, who ended the meeting by offering Bieshu Feifan a mission.

  • Bieshu Feifan searched the Morgue for Senju descendants and Wood Release resources, but found only a few bodies.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi fled pursuing hospital staff, and Bieshu Feifan’s fireball lit up his escape before Hiruzen hid in the Morgue as a corpse.
  • Bieshu Feifan turned Hiruzen facedown and covered him with water, leaving him trapped in the cabinet for more than half an hour.
  • The Anbu arrested Might Duy as the suspected hospital pervert, and Might Guy begged Bieshu Feifan to help him seek justice.

He approached her in a restaurant, where he knocked out a man who challenged him, leaving Tsunade wary of his strength and intentions.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi offered Bieshu Feifan a Forbidden Technique after he mastered fourteen Wind Release Ninjutsu and promised to count finding Tsunade as an A-rank mission.
  • Bieshu Feifan joined three Sarutobi shinobi to escort a noble, endured their hostility, and left after they delivered the noble safely.

  • Bieshu Feifan found Tsunade eating with Shizune and tried to speak with her, then punched a rich young gentleman who challenged him.
  • Tsunade stopped eating and watched Bieshu Feifan warily, recognizing that he was powerful and might have bad intentions.

Ch. 87This is Wood Release

Bieshu Feifan challenged Tsunade to a fight to persuade her to sell him Wood Release ninjutsu, but their battle ended without a deal. Over drinks, Tsunade admitted she recognized his Senju bloodline and mourned her lost family, while Bieshu Feifan asked Shizune to take the drunk Tsunade to rest.

  • Bieshu Feifan revealed a weak Wood Release sapling and claimed he was a Senju, but Tsunade doubted him and demanded that he prove his Wood Release in a fight.
  • Bieshu Feifan attacked Tsunade with repeated Fire Release techniques, and Tsunade activated Creation Rebirth before chasing him as he fled.
  • Tsunade stopped pursuing Bieshu Feifan and summoned Katsuyu, whose acid attack forced him to back away; they agreed to talk over drinks.

  • Bieshu Feifan confronted Uchiha Ku and three other Uchiha, revealing Wood Release and disguising himself as Tobirama Senju and then Madara Uchiha.
  • Bieshu Feifan killed Uchiha Ku and the other three Uchiha, taking their Sharingan and learning that the Third had sent them to investigate the Fujiwara Nobles and kill him if they found him.
  • Bieshu Feifan found Konoha shinobi surrounding the Fujiwara Nobles' home and withdrew rather than risk a fight.
  • Bieshu Feifan decided his Wood Release was better suited to armor than offense and traveled west toward Sunagakure to improve his Magnet Release.

Ch. 90They didn't know he was a Konoha ninja

Bieshu Feifan was recognized by a former hypnosis victim while posing as a patron at a border entertainment establishment, where a Sand Ninja caravan ambushed him. After killing the attackers, he learned they were delivering war reparations to Konoha and hurried into the Land of Wind to continue searching for someone to make his son.

  • Bieshu Feifan disguised himself and entered an entertainment establishment, where he reunited with a middle-aged fat man he had hypnotized years earlier.
  • The fat man revealed that he had acquired protection against genjutsu and led a group of Sand Ninja to attack Bieshu Feifan.
  • Bieshu Feifan fought back, killed the Sand Ninja, and learned that the fat man had been leading a caravan delivering war reparations to Konoha.

After Bieshu threatened to cancel the mission, Sunagakure's Kazekage and elders panicked and argued over who should go.

  • Sunagakure's leaders argued over who should take Bieshu Feifan's hundred-million-ryo commission, while the Third Kazekage advocated sending Rasa.
  • After Suzuki Cai taught Fangwu Zhuren only basic skills, Bieshu paid him off and requested a replacement; the next chunin also failed to satisfy him.
  • Sunagakure's leaders argued over the replacement as Bieshu raised the reward to two hundred million ryo.
  • Sunagakure eventually sent Xiaohong, but Bieshu remained dissatisfied and wrote that he might cancel the commission, offering ten million ryo as compensation.
  • The Kazekage and elders panicked at the prospect of losing the client and resumed arguing over who should take the mission.

Ch. 92Best to Shear the Sheep Clean Before Eating Its Meat

Bieshu Feifan used Pakura’s paid lessons to study her Wind Release and Fire Release techniques while secretly plotting to absorb her Scorch Release. When Pakura realized the unusually quiet surroundings and Bieshu Feifan’s strange questions signaled danger, she stood up on guard.

  • Bieshu Feifan welcomed Pakura, a nineteen-year-old Sunagakure Elite Jōnin, as Fangwu Zhuren’s instructor and arranged to learn from her as well.
  • Bieshu Feifan used a Wood Clone to study Pakura’s demonstrations of Wind Release and Fire Release while his real body recorded her techniques with the Sharingan.
  • Pakura refused to demonstrate or explain Scorch Release, calling it a secret vital to her survival and Sunagakure’s security.
  • Fangwu Zhuren lost interest in Pakura’s lessons and spent more time with Xiaohong, while Bieshu Feifan kept bringing Pakura food and asking about her clothing and armpits.
  • Bieshu Feifan asked Pakura whether she would explain Scorch Release and mentioned Kakashi, prompting her to suspect him and notice that the tenants and Xiaohong were absent.
  • Pakura abruptly stood up, sensing that something was wrong.

  • After the Daimyō's welcome banquet, Bieshu Feifan slipped into his bedchamber, put him under an illusion, and told him he was his father and would take the bed.

Ch. 95This wasn't the Hokage's Shinobi World

Bieshu Feifan took over the Daimyō’s residence, tried to summon Rasa, and demanded money from nobles and other nations. His borrowing letters spread rumors of the Land of Wind’s impending bankruptcy, drawing looters to the capital, where Bieshu Feifan joined the plunder before the Third Kazekage arrived.

  • Bieshu Feifan discovered that the Daimyō’s wife, Ma, was his daughter and ordered them to stay away from him.

  • The Third Kazekage arrived with Sunagakure’s main force and lamented that he had come too late.

Ch. 96How the Nobles Responded

Bieshu Feifan escaped the battle in the Capital of the Land of Wind by disguising himself as a Sunagakure shinobi, then secretly stole most of the valuables Sunagakure was recovering. After burying his haul and crossing into the Land of Fire, he targeted a noble’s estate while Konoha’s leaders argued over Uchiha responsibility for the Wind daimyō’s apparent genjutsu; Bieshu Feifan began considering a laboratory to cultivate Hashirama Cells.

  • The Third Kazekage led Sunagakure forces against the bandits, and Bieshu Feifan used his Sharingan to disguise himself as a Sand Ninja and flee the fighting.
  • Bieshu Feifan encountered Rasa, declined to attack him, and joined the Sand Ninja transporting recovered valuables.
  • Bieshu Feifan replaced dead transporters with wood clones and secretly diverted most of the recovered wealth, leaving Sunagakure with only twenty percent of the nobles’ property.

  • At the Hokage’s Office, Danzo demanded that the Uchiha accept responsibility for the Wind daimyō’s apparent genjutsu, while Uchiha Fugaku’s father pointed to the rogue Uchiha Biwako.
  • Bieshu Feifan considered building his own laboratory to cultivate Hashirama Cells.

Ch. 97Some things didn't need to be so complicated

Bieshu Feifan searched the Capital of the Land of Fire for a doctor who could culture Hashirama cells, discovering that many prestigious hospitals mainly catered to nobles with service and painkillers. He found a capable Medical Ninja, funded a laboratory, and successfully cultured the cells, but the chapter ended as he noticed something he should not have seen.

  • Bieshu Feifan visited the capital’s finest hospital to arrange for Hashirama cells to be cultured, but learned its top doctor was really a waiter with little medical skill.
  • Bieshu Feifan discovered that many of the capital’s legitimate hospitals operated as entertainment venues, then found a small clinic run by a genuine Medical Ninja.
  • Bieshu Feifan used genjutsu to befriend the doctor and persuaded him to stop treating patients and culture cells instead.
  • Bieshu Feifan funded a sterile laboratory and supplied Hashirama cells he had obtained from Orochimaru for the doctor to cultivate.
  • Two months later, Bieshu Feifan confirmed the culture had worked, rewarded the doctor generously, and insisted that they keep the work secret.
  • As Bieshu Feifan prepared to benefit from the Hashirama cells, he saw something he should not have seen.

Ch. 98Home for barbecue

After nearly a year away, Bieshu Feifan was recalled to Konoha, reunited with Might Guy and Might Duy, and joined them for a barbecue. Their meal was interrupted by two Uchiha accusing him of colluding with the rogue ninja Uchiha Biwako, and Might Duy kicked one of them across the room.

  • Uchiha Zhongfen and his companion arrested more than a hundred witnesses and erased their memories with the Sharingan.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi asked why Bieshu Feifan had returned, and Feifan explained that the Inuzuka, Hyūga, and Bug Man had told him to come back while searching for Tsunade.

Ch. 100Regret it, Sarutobi

After returning to Konoha, Bieshu Feifan annoyed Hiruzen Sarutobi with his account of the year he spent away, then recruited Might Duy and Might Guy to earn money through a public performance outside the Hokage Building. The performance targeted Hiruzen Sarutobi and left him mortified as Bieshu Feifan’s singing grew louder.

  • Bieshu Feifan returned to Konoha without finding Tsunade, irritated Hiruzen Sarutobi, and refused to write a mission report.
