Ye Feng returned to Konoha after surviving a dangerous journey through the space-time passage, then spent a year recovering before preparing to begin the Tailed Beast Collection Plan. He offered Black Zetsu help with the plan, but Black Zetsu hesitated over whether it was appropriate to bypass Akatsuki.

• Orochimaru and Shisui rescued Ye Feng in the space-time passage and guided him through the remaining rifts back to a forest near Konoha.

Ye Feng arrived before the Akatsuki and persuaded Nagato's Deva Path to cooperate in collecting the Tailed Beasts and creating an ultimate weapon. Deva Path agreed after Ye Feng promised to provide the life force needed to revive someone, and Ye Feng ended by questioning the capability of some Akatsuki members.

• Black Zetsu waited with the Akatsuki until Ye Feng emerged from a Space Gate with four unfamiliar figures, overwhelming the group with his aura.
• Nagato's Deva Path countered some of Ye Feng's pressure, and Ye Feng claimed he had no intention of absorbing the Akatsuki.
• When an Akatsuki member challenged him, Ye Feng killed the man with a glance, prompting Deva Path to confront him.
• Ye Feng proposed that he collect the Tailed Beasts while Nagato used the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to create a superweapon, and Black Zetsu confirmed Ye Feng's account.

Back in Konoha, Ye Feng told Uchiha Fugaku that the Shinobi World was about to change and that Sasuke and another young shinobi needed to grow stronger.

• Hidan demanded a fight, and Ye Feng ordered “Tang Sanzang” to entertain him without holding back.
• Might Duy overwhelmed Hidan with a rapid series of attacks until Deva Path called the fight off.
• Ye Feng left Shisui and the other three with Deva Path and said he would return to extract the Tailed Beast Chakra after the Akatsuki captured all the Jinchūriki.

Ye Feng transplanted Uchiha Fugaku’s eyes into Sasuke and Sasuke’s eyes into Fugaku, explaining that Sasuke’s pain was part of the fusion process. As the Akatsuki began capturing tailed beasts and Gaara was taken, Minato Namikaze called Shikaku Nara to discuss the attack.

• Uchiha Fugaku agreed to begin the eye transplant in three days after Ye Feng rejected Sasuke as a candidate to protect the Shinobi World.
• The Akatsuki assigned teams to capture the tailed-beast Jinchuriki and officially began their plan.

Minato ordered a warning and a Five Kage Summit, then refused to send Naruto to rescue Gaara, so Ye Feng began sharing another plan with Naruto.

• Minato Namikaze and Shikaku Nara suspected Ye Feng might know about the Akatsuki's capture of Gaara and summoned him to the Hokage Office.

• Ye Feng pulled the One-Tail from Gaara, sealed its chakra in a sphere, and hid nearby after opening a Space Gate.
• Naruto, Kakashi, Chiyo, and the others reached the cave and found Gaara dead; Naruto grieved and briefly lost control before Kakashi calmed him.
• Chiyo began using One's Own Life Reincarnation to revive Gaara, but found that the technique required more chakra than she could provide.

• Sakura caught Chiyo as she collapsed, while Gaara's heartbeat returned and he revived; Chiyo died with a satisfied smile.
• Minato heard that Asuma had been seriously injured, and Shikamaru reported that Kakuzu and Hidan had attacked his team.
• Shikamaru told Minato that Kakuzu spared Asuma because he had promised Ye Feng to do so, leaving Minato concerned about Ye Feng's secret arrangements.
• Ye Feng arrived in Kumogakure and restrained Killer B before identifying himself and warning him that Akatsuki had captured the One-Tail and might target him and Yugito Nii.

• Ye Feng warned Killer B about Shisui and Uchiha Shinichi above Yugito Nii’s training ground, but Killer B shouted to alert her.
• Shisui struck Yugito Nii with Golden Yang Palm and knocked her unconscious; Ye Feng knocked out Killer B and vanished with him.

The Fourth Raikage learned that Akatsuki had captured Yugito and agreed to attend the Five Kage Summit after realizing how dangerous the organization was. Ye Feng took Yugito while arranging for Black Zetsu to keep searching for the Eight-Tails, then entered Matatabi’s space to discuss the Ten-Tails.

• Killer B told the Fourth Raikage that an enemy had knocked Yugito unconscious with a single blow and that the attacker had ordinary black eyes.
• Alarmed by Akatsuki’s strength and worried about Killer B, the Fourth Raikage agreed to the Five Kage Summit.
• Shisui and Uchiha Shinichi reported that they had captured Yugito but that Uchiha Yefeng had rescued the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki; Ye Feng took Yugito through a Space Gate.
• White Zetsu reported the Eight-Tails’ escape to Black Zetsu, who went with Obito to the Village of the Gods and asked Ye Feng what to do.

Ye Feng persuaded Matatabi the Two-Tails to trust him with a chance at freedom from the Ten-Tails and showed her his private world as a refuge. After she agreed, he extracted her chakra and told her to convince the other tailed beasts to cooperate.

• Ye Feng explained that Matatabi could leave behind a small portion of chakra and consciousness when the Ten-Tails was revived, and promised to protect her.
• Matatabi doubted Ye Feng's claims about protecting her from Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, but he showed her his private world as a possible sanctuary.
• Matatabi agreed to trust Ye Feng and asked what she needed to do, while he promised that Yugito Nii would survive her extraction.

• Fu tried to escape by flying, but Might Duy and Hyuga Kong blocked her and brought her to Ye Feng.
• Ye Feng extracted the Seven-Tails Chomei’s chakra and placed it in the Divine Realm with the Two-Tails Matatabi.
• The Deva Path captured the Six-Tails and damaged much of Kirigakure, while Kakuzu captured the Four-Tails Jinchuriki six days later.

At the Five Kage Summit, Minato Namikaze and the other Kage shared intelligence about the Akatsuki and agreed to protect the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails. The Akatsuki leader attacked the summit, declared the Fourth Shinobi World War, and left the Kage shaken by his claims about the organization’s forces and Ultimate Weapon.

• Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Raikage, the Fifth Kazekage, and Mei Terumi reported the Akatsuki’s powerful members and their attacks to the summit.
• The Fourth Raikage proposed protecting the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails at a secret Kumogakure location.
• The Deva Path appeared and collapsed the Five Kage Summit hall, forcing the Kage and their subordinates to flee.

The Five Kage agreed to form the Allied Shinobi Forces after learning the Sacred God might be backing the Akatsuki and had obtained half of the Nine-Tails. Mifune recommended Minato Namikaze as supreme commander, and the other Kage agreed.

• Kankuro questioned the Sacred God's threat, but Minato Namikaze and Gaara argued that the villages had to unite, and the Five Kage agreed to form the Allied Shinobi Forces.
• Mei Terumi wondered whether the Akatsuki had already obtained Nine-Tails Chakra, prompting Minato Namikaze to realize that Uchiha Yefeng had been entrusted with the Nine-Tails' other half.
• Minato Namikaze went to Ye Feng, who claimed the Sacred God had forced him to trade the Nine-Tails Chakra for Feng Yu's remains.

• A giant squid attacked Ye Feng and his companions, but Ye Feng's killing intent frightened it into fleeing after spraying ink over the ship and Kumogakure Ninja.
• Killer B guided Ye Feng and Naruto through Turtle Island to his base, then led them to the Waterfall of Truth.
