Sylvanas was handling official business in the Queen's Hall when she sensed the violent fluctuations of ice elemental energy coming from Luminas Sunstrider, even from far away.
"Who has upset our Luminas Sunstrider?" Sylvanas's voice carried over from afar, her affectionate tone nothing like the Banshee Queen others knew.
Sylvanas and Luminass had both belonged to the leadership of Quel'Thalas. The difference was that one belonged to the Council faction and the other to the Royalists. Originally, the two had little contact, but after becoming Forsaken, their shared origins had brought them a deeper appreciation for each other.
Both had belonged to the upper class of Quel'Thalas, and both had died at the hands of Arthas's Scourge. Their similar experiences gave them more in common.
Her pretty face frosty, Luminass silently took out the arcane box Higgins had given her and the two letters.
Sylvanas had also lived in Sunlight City, and she recognized the arcane seal on the box as Patrick's handiwork at a glance.
The Dreadlord's head revealed when she opened the box made Sylvanas pause. She had seen this Dreadlord before: Balnazzar, whom she had defeated shortly after Varimathras surrendered. As for Balnazzar's vast army, it had been defeated in a pincer attack by Sylvanas and Garithos, who had broken free of control.
After the war, Sylvanas had forced Varimathras to kill his own brother Balnazzar to prove his loyalty to her. But Varimathras had deliberately twisted the meaning. A Nathrezim could not kill another Nathrezim, but Varimathras had told Sylvanas that killing another Nathrezim was taboo. Thus, Balnazzar had escaped with his life.
Now that Balnazzar's head had appeared in her hands, Sylvanas instinctively wondered whether something had changed behind the scenes.
She opened the two secret letters exchanged within the Scarlet Crusade:
"Taelan has already
