Arc 24The Road to Icecrown

Patrick led the coalition through a Scourge ambush, then turned his attention to the Nightmare spreading through the Emerald Dream and the growing Arcane Pact. The armies reached the Frozen Throne, where Patrick held back the Lich King's summoned forces as the final battle began.

  • Patrick defended the Forsaken's place in the Arcane Pact while Tirion Fordring and Demetria considered Lordaeron's possible membership and recovery.
  • Garrosh joined the Northern Expedition, and Patrick ordered the coalition to attack the Scourge after Korm Blackscar destroyed the Stitching Grounds.
  • The Scourge encircled the Northern Expedition with undead Vrykul, crypt fiends, and floating warships, but Patrick's Starfall and Vashj's tornado devastated its forces.
  • The coalition rested and resupplied before advancing, while Patrick learned that Xavius's Nightmare was causing people across Azeroth to fall into an unending sleep.
  • Patrick welcomed Grizzlemaw's membership proposal and Lordaeron's request to join the Arcane Pact, while Tyrande investigated the spreading nightmare.
  • After Jaina and Sylvanas struck Icecrown Citadel's flank, Patrick argued that the Lich King had to die and urged the coalition to spare as many of its subordinates as possible.
  • The Alliance, Horde, Covenant, and Arcane Pact surrounded Icecrown Citadel, and Tirion killed the resurrected Kel'Thuzad as Patrick's group fought through the stronghold.
  • Patrick reached the Frozen Throne with Illidan, Kael'thas, and Tirion, explained that destroying the Lich King would free Arthas's soul, and raised a barrier against Ner'zhul's frost wyrms and gargoyles.
Chapters 603–628 Vol. 6 Read

Ch. 603Another strong dose

Patrick warned Tirion Fordring and the Lordaeron delegation that joining the Arcane Pact would limit their sovereignty and would not secure Lordaeron City from the Forsaken. Tirion accepted the Pact’s terms while hoping Patrick would stay out of a future war, and Patrick left open the possibility of redeeming the Forsaken.

  • Patrick explained that the Arcane Pact’s shared decision-making could restrict the authority of Lordaeron’s future monarch, and Tirion Fordring said Lordaeron had considered joining for years.
  • Patrick declared that the Arcane Pact would not force the Forsaken to surrender Lordaeron City, angering the Scarlet Crusade soldiers.
  • Patrick explained that the Forsaken had helped Quel'Thalas against the Scourge and said he would not betray them or their alliance with the Pact.
  • Tirion asked Patrick not to intervene if Lordaeron and the Forsaken went to war, and Patrick said he had been searching for a way to redeem the Forsaken.
  • Tirion wondered whether the people of Lordaeron would accept their undead former heroes, and Patrick replied that the future was impossible to predict.

Ch. 604Certainty

Patrick Kabolon discussed the Kingdom of Lordaeron’s possible entry into the Arcane Pact, urging its leaders to prioritize recovery over reclaiming Lordaeron City. He left the decision to join pending review by the Covenant’s Supreme Council and described how Quel’Thalas and Patrick influenced the Pact’s member factions.

  • Tirion Fordring and Demetria discussed Lordaeron’s possible membership, its roughly thirty-percent population recovery, and the need for restraint toward the Forsaken.
  • Patrick advised Demetria and Brigitte Abbendis to restore livelihoods and reduce plague contamination before pursuing Lordaeron City, while Demetria acknowledged the city and Tirisfal Glades remained uninhabitable for the living.
  • Brigitte questioned how Lordaeron could regain its glory without its capital, and Patrick warned that taking and holding the plague-ridden city would exhaust the surviving population.
  • Patrick said he would submit Lordaeron’s proposed entry to the Covenant’s Supreme Council and expected its members to follow the Arcane Pact’s provisions if they joined.
  • Patrick’s influence over the Arcane Pact’s factions was described, including the naga and Highborne following his decisions and Kul Tiras aligning with Quel’Thalas over naval supremacy.

Ch. 605Resolute

Patrick and Kael'thas discussed Lordaeron's offer to restore their alliance and how the Arcane Pact could use human kingdoms to maintain order while Quel'Thalas ruled from behind the scenes. Kael'thas accepted Patrick's strategy, though the chapter left Quel'Thalas's population problem unresolved.

  • Tirion Fordring said Calia would send a state letter to Patrick soon, and Patrick welcomed Lordaeron as a potential ally.
  • Kael'thas warned that Lordaeron wanted peace for its own benefit and doubted that humans would honor their promises across generations.
  • Patrick explained that Quel'Thalas lacked the population to govern its territories directly and planned to use Lordaeron's people to maintain order while the Arcane Pact directed events.
  • Patrick argued that voting systems could enable division and described how the Sunstrider family had once ruled Quel'Thalas from behind the Silvermoon Council.
  • Patrick said his reforms had opened paths for commoners to advance, but Quel'Thalas's population growth remained low because Elves, especially male Elves, had little interest in having children.
  • Kael'thas agreed with Patrick's plan to keep Quel'Thalas closed and powerful while Lordaeron, Stromgarde, and Aerie Peak competed beyond its borders.

Ch. 606The curtain rose

With the Shadow Vault captured and the Scourge’s Stitching Grounds destroyed, Patrick ordered the Coalition Forces to attack Icecrown Citadel. The assembled Alliance, Horde, and other armies prepared to storm the Scourge’s stronghold under a shared battle plan.

  • Darion told Patrick that Baron Slyven’s forces had captured the Shadow Vault and killed Layshan Frostblade.
  • Garrosh arrived with the Horde’s Kor’kron expeditionary force and reaffirmed the Mag’har’s friendship with Patrick.
  • An explosion and mushroom cloud rose from the Scourge’s Stitching Grounds, and Tirion recognized that Korm Blackscar had completed his mission.
  • Patrick ordered the Coalition Forces to attack, and its leaders returned to their camps to ready their armies.
  • Rhonin and Bolvar agreed to join the assault, while each allied leader prepared to command their own troops under a unified plan.

Ch. 607Bolvar's heart

Bolvar insisted on personally leading the Northern Expedition into battle, driven by guilt over his failures as Stormwind’s Regent. The Arcane Pact formed the center of the advancing force, with the Alliance and Horde on its flanks, as Patrick, Kael’thas, Illidan, Vashj, Garrosh, and Bolvar led the charge against the Scourge.

  • Rhonin agreed with Bolvar that the factions should retain command of their own troops while coordinating their movements.
  • Halv Vem Bane offered to take the field, but Bolvar insisted that he personally lead the battle as part of the mission entrusted to him by the king.
  • Leorick reassured Bolvar that Onyxia’s deception in Stormwind had not been his fault, but Bolvar remained convinced that he had failed Varian and needed to seek solace in battle.
  • Halv Vem Bane accepted Bolvar’s decision, and the Northern Expeditionary Force prepared to advance despite being greatly outnumbered by the Scourge.
  • The Arcane Pact took the center while the Valiance Expedition and Warsong Expeditionary Force formed the flanks, and Patrick, Kael’thas, Illidan, Vashj, Garrosh, and Bolvar led their troops into battle.

Ch. 608Battle began

Tirion Fordring and Azeroth’s allied forces launched their assault on the Scourge at the Gates of Terror. As the battle raged, Illidan, Vashj, and Kael’thas demonstrated their power, with Kael’thas’s seven rune-enhanced weapons carving through the undead.

  • Tirion Fordring and Blyden Blade led the charge against the Scourge forces guarding the Gates of Terror.
  • Scourge commanders including Thassarian Deathchill, Highlord Yoffes, Ancient Putricide, Hadana Soulstealer, and Lord Ufrang appeared to defend their stronghold.
  • Vashj struck undead Vrykul giants with Forked Lightning, while Naj'entus fought a Pustulent Colossus.
  • Illidan swiftly destroyed Thassarian Deathchill with Mana Burn, immolation flames, and rapid attacks.
  • Kargath Bladefist attacked the Scourge, while Patrick and other leaders fought from the air.
  • Kael'thas summoned seven rune-enhanced weapons and directed them to block and destroy Scourge troops.

Ch. 609Join forces?

Patrick and the Coalition Forces battled the Scourge at the Gates of Terror while the Lich King taunted them through Highlord Joseph. As the forces advanced, a mysterious spider creature proposed joining forces to destroy the Lich King.

  • Patrick provoked the Lich King through Highlord Joseph, then killed Joseph with Flames Enveloping the Body after the Lich King left his body.
  • Alleria and Salorian Dawnseeker fought through the Scourge, while Rotande Gili used his plague to corrupt enemies and heal allied soldiers.
  • Illidan and the Demon Hunters attacked the Gates of Terror as the coalition's aerial forces fought Frost Wyrms and gargoyles, and Zagonnas's Dragonhawk Riders bombed a passage.
  • A huge spider creature appeared beside Patrick, evaded Mind Vision, and offered to join forces against the Scourge.

Ch. 610Surrounded by floating warships

Anub'serhan revealed that the Scourge had turned nerubian structures into power cores for floating warships, and warned the Coalition that the Lich King's reinforcements were near. As four warships approached with aerial escorts, Patrick and the other leaders prepared to engage, while Anub'serhan warned of another threat beneath the ground.

  • Anub'serhan explained that he had once ruled Azjol-Nerub, returned after the Lich King destroyed it, and wanted revenge on the Scourge.
  • Anub'serhan warned Tirion Fordring and the Coalition that Scourge reinforcements would soon arrive aboard floating warships powered by stolen nerubian designs.
  • Alleria spotted four Scourge floating warships approaching with frost wyrms and gargoyles, while Kilwraith, Lord Drakuru, Marrass the Corrupter, and Orbaz Bloodbane appeared among the enemy leaders.
  • Patrick, Illidan, and Maiev each chose a warship to confront, and Anub'serhan praised their strength but warned that the Lich King's forces were also preparing an attack from underground.

Ch. 611Above and Below

The Coalition Forces fought the Scourge as reinforcements swelled its ranks, while Anub'serhan confronted his undead brother Anub'arak. Patrick challenged Orbaz Bloodbane and destroyed him, his attendants, and the Marnabas, leaving the battle still raging below.

  • Anub'arak and underground Crypt Fiends ambushed the Coalition Forces, but Taelan and the other Paladins used Consecration's Holy Flame to destroy the spiders beneath them.
  • Anub'serhan rejected Anub'arak's invitation to join the Scourge and wounded him by warping space with World's Weaving.
  • Taelan, Salorian Dawnseeker, and the Red and Blue Dragons fought the Scourge as its reinforcements restored its numbers.
  • Patrick flew to confront Orbaz Bloodbane, whose Shadow Strike failed against Patrick's Mana Shield.
  • Patrick's Diffusing Riftwave cut Orbaz Bloodbane and his attendants into pieces and destroyed the Marnabas's necromantic core.

Ch. 612An encirclement takes shape

After the Marnabas fell, the Scourge sent Vrykul reinforcements from several directions to rescue the Lich King. The Northern Expeditionary Force was surrounded on every front, and a bitter battle was about to begin.

  • Salorian Dawnseeker rallied the Coalition Forces after the Marnabas broke apart, while Garrosh-Grommash Hellscream charged the Scourge Vrykul.
  • Igovar and Heggal led Kvaldir through thick mist, and Overlord Mason arrived with Dragoncaller Vile and the Dragonflayer dragon riders.
  • King Ymyron, Queen Angerboda, and Ojar the Chosen led undead Vrykul forces toward Icecrown Citadel to rescue the Lich King.
  • Highlord Balargarde appeared behind the Northern Expeditionary Force with Jotunheim’s Vargul the Forsaken army, completing the Scourge encirclement.
  • The Scourge surrounded the Northern Expeditionary Force with flying warships, Anub'arak’s crypt fiends, and Vrykul armies on both sides.

Ch. 613Starfall

Patrick realized the Lich King had lured the Northern Expeditionary Force into an ambush by unleashing a vast army of undead Vrykul. With the expeditionary force facing defeat, Patrick began casting Starfall to turn the battle around.

  • Patrick saw the undead Vrykul army and understood that the Scourge had sprung a devastating trap on the Northern Expeditionary Force.
  • Patrick recognized that the expeditionary force’s premature advance had abandoned its plan to weaken the Scourge before attacking Icecrown Citadel.
  • Patrick ordered the others to keep the enemies away from him and unleashed the mana he had stored in the Discs of Norgannon and his Sea of Consciousness.
  • Alleria, Illidan, Kael'thas, Tirion Fordring, and the others gathered around Patrick to protect him as he prepared a large-scale spell.
  • Patrick cast Starfall, directing powerful, precise attacks at individual targets across the battlefield.

Ch. 614The Decisive Battle

Patrick unleashed Starfall across the battlefield after drawing on the Ley Line System, forcing the Scourge to target him while the Northern Expeditionary Force's leaders fought to protect him. As Starfall devastated the undead, Alleria killed Ygvar the Mistcaller, and Lady Vashj declared the beginning of the Naga's revenge.

  • Patrick lifted his restrictions and used the Ley Line System to summon Starfall, while Malygos sensed the surge and chose to keep feigning sleep.
  • The Lich King ordered the Scourge to kill Patrick, and falling stars began wiping out undead across the battlefield.
  • Illidan blocked Mason the Dominator, Vyr the Dragon-Caller, and Ojul the Chosen from reaching Patrick, then killed Ojul with Fel Fire and a strike.
  • Ygvar the Mistcaller attacked Alleria with Plague Poison Mist, but she killed him with five Arcane arrows transformed into fire.
  • Lady Vashj called out to Tanasager and announced that the Naga's revenge had begun.

Ch. 615Breaking the Enemy

Vashj, Patrick, and Tirion Fordring unleashed powerful magic that devastated the Scourge and turned the battle in the Northern Expeditionary Force’s favor. The Lich King disappeared from Patrick’s perception as the Scourge’s forces collapsed.

  • Vashj summoned a massive tornado charged with lightning, which sucked in and annihilated Scourge troops.
  • Patrick continued using Starfall alongside Vashj’s tornado, clearing the battlefield and lifting the Coalition Forces’ morale.
  • Tirion Fordring unleashed Grand Judgement through the Ashbringer, causing fallen souls to release Holy Light that purified undead and healed the expeditionary soldiers.
  • The souls of fallen soldiers awakened comrades who could not be resurrected, and those warriors returned to battle carrying their comrades’ final wishes.
  • Patrick lost track of the Lich King as the Scourge’s cannon fodder was destroyed, its mid-level forces collapsed, and its elite fighters struggled to hold on.

Ch. 616At the gates

The Northern Expeditionary Force destroyed the Vrykul army at the Gates of Terror and prepared to advance on Icecrown Citadel. Patrick halted the immediate attack so the exhausted troops could regroup and an aerial supply route could be established.

  • Patrick, Vashj, and Tirion Fordring helped wipe out the Vrykul army, while Ymiron and the other Scourge commanders fell.
  • Tirion Fordring led the armies into the Court of Bones as Patrick and Alleria followed with their bodyguards.
  • Patrick explained that the Scourge had lost most of its experienced officers, leaving the Lich King with few forces capable of resisting the expedition.
  • Patrick told Illidan and Tirion to pause the assault, rest the troops, and arrange aerial supply deliveries from the Wrathgate.
  • Patrick proposed that the Alliance and Horde handle their own logistics, and the leaders agreed to camp and rest before attacking Icecrown Citadel.

Ch. 617Bad news

After the Coalition Forces crushed the Scourge’s outer strongholds, Patrick prepared for an assault on Icecrown Citadel and accepted Anub'serhan’s help guarding its gates. A report of mass, unexplained sleep in Silvermoon City led Patrick to warn that the Emerald Dream was under attack, prompting Illidan to urge the Night Elves to contact Malfurion and Tyrande.

  • Tirion Fordring used Grand Judgement and the Ashbringer to resurrect fallen warriors through the sacrifice of countless souls.
  • Patrick outlined the Coalition Forces’ plans, and Anub'serhan agreed to guard Icecrown Citadel’s gates while the troops rested and resupplied.
  • Selin Fireheart delivered a message from Lord Pasareen reporting that nearly a thousand people in Silvermoon City had fallen into an unending sleep.
  • Patrick identified the Emerald Dream as the likely source of the crisis and warned that the Lord of the Nightmare had invaded it.
  • Illidan urged Saiya Cangsteel to notify Malfurion and Tyrande so they could investigate the Emerald Dream.

Ch. 618A temporary delay

Patrick warned the leaders of the Northern Expedition that Yogg-Saron’s power was leaking into the world, adding a third looming threat alongside the Scourge and the Nightmare. The Scourge remained their immediate target, and the assault on Icecrown Citadel was tentatively set for the day after tomorrow.

  • Saya went to the Night Elf camp to contact Darnassus after Illidan and Maiev urged her to act.
  • Patrick revealed that Yogg-Saron’s influence was spreading through the roots of Vordrassil and had once corrupted Ursoc.
  • The leaders discussed the threats posed by the Nightmare and Yogg-Saron, while Darion insisted that the Knights of the Ebon Blade would focus only on destroying the Lich King.
  • Illidan said Anub'serhan and Azjol-Nerub could be treated as allies until the Lich King was defeated.
  • Patrick left to make arrangements in Sunlight City, and Tirion Fordring agreed to a tentative assault on Icecrown Citadel the day after tomorrow.

Ch. 619A new decision

Patrick returned to Sunlight City and learned that people across the world were falling into an unnatural sleep because a Nightmare Lord had trapped their souls in the Emerald Dream. He informed Pasareen to alert the Horde but chose to keep the Northern Expedition focused on defeating the Scourge before offering help elsewhere.

  • Patrick arrived in Sunlight City and asked Pasareen when the reports of people sleeping without waking had begun.
  • Patrick explained that Xavius had attacked the Emerald Dream and that the same crisis was affecting other nations, including New Faolun City.
  • Patrick told Pasareen to notify Undercity and the Horde, while Quel'Thalas delayed sending aid until the Northern Expedition ended.
  • Patrick visited the Wrathgate and learned from Har'koa that the Animal Gods had recruited local races and high elves as priests and repelled Scourge probes.
  • Patrick asked Har'koa to summon the other Animal Gods so he could speak with them.

Ch. 620A visitor from Grizzlemaw

Patrick checked on the six Animal Gods, told them to recover and build their priesthoods, and warned them about the Lord of the Nightmare without asking them to fight. After they left, he learned that Lin Bluestone had come from Grizzlemaw to seek the Furbolgs’ admission to the Arcane Pact.

  • Patrick discussed the Animal Gods’ living conditions and promised Rhunok and the cold-adapted creatures a choice of homes after the fighting ended.
  • Patrick asked whether the Animal Gods could enter the Emerald Dream, then informed them that the Lord of the Nightmare had invaded it and intended to conquer the world.
  • Patrick told the Animal Gods to recover, build their priesthoods, and honor their obligations, and praised their defense of the Wrathgate.
  • Yanida told Patrick that Lin Bluestone had arrived as an envoy from Grizzlemaw and wanted to discuss joining the Arcane Pact.
  • Patrick approved an introduction to Lin Bluestone and wondered how the Night Elves would react to the Furbolgs joining the Covenant.

Ch. 621Lin Bluestone

Lin Bluestone asked Patrick to let Grizzlemaw join the Azeroth Arcane Covenant, and he agreed to submit the proposal for review. In Darnassus, Tyrande learned that the worldwide sleep and the Emerald Dream crisis were worsening, and decided to seek answers herself while assigning Malfurion’s recovery to the Moon Goddess’s priests.

  • Lin Bluestone presented Ursoc’s statue and explained that Grizzlemaw wanted to join the Azeroth Arcane Covenant.
  • Lin Bluestone told Patrick that a druid had adopted her and raised her among the Furbolgs, teaching her to become a nature mage.
  • Patrick agreed to contact Ursoc and have Yanida submit Grizzlemaw’s membership proposal to the representatives in Sunlight City.
  • Miranda reported to Tyrande that inhabitants across Azeroth were falling asleep and that the World Tree’s illness was worsening despite the Cenarion Circle’s efforts.
  • Tyrande ordered Fandral Staghelm to stop using Dawnlight Wheat, sent the Moon Goddess’s priests to focus on awakening Malfurion, and decided to investigate the nightmare herself.

Ch. 622A letter from Lordaeron

Patrick received Lordaeron’s diplomatic letter from Alonsus Faol and agreed to announce the kingdom’s accession to the Arcane Pact after the Northern Expedition ended. The chapter left the Scourge campaign nearing its final assault while Alleria assessed the Lynx Knights and considered how to improve the Farstriders.

  • Patrick welcomed Alonsus Faol, who delivered Lordaeron’s letter and spoke of his concern for Arthas and the Lich King.
  • Patrick told Alonsus that Tirion Fordring’s forces had defeated the Lich King’s trap and could advance through Icecrown Glacier.
  • Patrick agreed that Lordaeron would join the Arcane Pact, but said he would announce it after the Northern Expedition’s war was over.
  • Patrick reflected on the planned accessions of Lordaeron and Grizzlemaw and worried about how the Cenarion Circle and Darnassus were handling the nightmare invasion.
  • Alleria reported that lynx mounts had improved the Ranger Forces’ mobility and reduced their casualties, but wished she could equip the Farstriders with warglaives.

Ch. 624The Covenant's current state

Patrick reviewed the Lynx Knights’ successful pairing of Rangers and lynxes, then returned to Silvermoon City to handle Covenant affairs. After delivering Lordaeron’s request to join the Arcane Pact, he prepared to return to Northrend as the battle for Icecrown Citadel approached.

  • Patrick and Alleria discussed how the Lynx Knights’ ranged attacks and agility strengthened the Farstriders.
  • Patrick teleported back to Sunfury Spire and learned that the Councilors’ busy schedule had disrupted their mealtimes.
  • Patrick observed that trade through the Arcane Pact was binding member states’ economies to Quel'Thalas.
  • Patterson welcomed Patrick back, and Patrick handed him Lordaeron’s official letter requesting to join the Arcane Pact.
  • Patrick told Patterson he would leave for Northrend immediately because the battle for Icecrown Citadel was near.

Ch. 625Before the Great Battle

Patrick returned from Silvermoon to the Court of Bones as the coalition prepared to attack the Lich King at Icecrown Citadel the next morning. After hearing what Jaina and Sylvanas learned from Uther’s soul, Patrick insisted Arthas and Ner’zhul had to die and proposed making Sylvanas the next Lich King.

  • Patrick told Patterson that Silvermoon’s council should plan for the Arcane Pact’s factions and protect High Elves who had fallen into an unending sleep while the Cenarion Circle and Emerald Dream investigated.
  • Patterson agreed to gather the councilors and publicly explain the situation, as similar cases had appeared across the world.
  • Patrick, Alleria, and the others teleported to the Court of Bones, where Kael’thas said the coalition would attack Icecrown Citadel with the Air Force the next morning.
  • Kael’thas told Patrick that Jaina and Sylvanas had launched a surprise attack on Icecrown Citadel’s flank after securing air superiority, and had returned safely.
  • Kael’thas relayed Uther’s warning that the Lich King had to be defeated at the Frozen Throne, someone would need to control the Scourge afterward, and Arthas might still remain within the Lich King.
  • Patrick declared that Arthas and Ner’zhul had to die and proposed that Sylvanas take the Lich King’s place.

Ch. 626Schemes for the great battle

Patrick and Kael'thas rejected the idea that Arthas could still influence the Lich King and agreed that the Lich King had to die. As the Coalition Forces prepared to attack Icecrown Citadel at dawn, Patrick urged Kael'thas to secure the Lich King's subordinates for Quel'Thalas and its allies.

  • Patrick argued that Arthas was only a soul trapped in the sword and could not influence the far stronger Lich King.
  • Patrick told Kael'thas that the Lich King might restrain the Scourge because a world-consuming war could free the Old Gods beneath Azeroth.
  • Patrick and Kael'thas agreed that the Lich King had to die, regardless of Jaina's hope of saving Arthas.
  • Patrick asked Kael'thas to persuade the Coalition Forces to spare as many of the Lich King's subordinates as possible, since their freed allies could strengthen Quel'Thalas, the Forsaken, the Knights of the Ebon Blade, and the Arcane Pact.
  • Kael'thas went to the Coalition Forces' tent to present the High Elves' suggestions as the armies prepared for the battle at Icecrown Citadel.

Ch. 627The battle of Icecrown Citadel

The Alliance, Horde, and Covenant gathered with the Arcane Pact to launch a massive assault on Icecrown Citadel. After Tirion Fordring rallied the armies, Patrick and the other leaders flew toward the Lich King and killed Kel'Thuzad at the citadel's entrance.

  • The armies of the Alliance, Horde, and Covenant surrounded Icecrown Citadel alongside the Arcane Pact's forces.
  • Tirion Fordring delivered a speech promising to defeat the Lich King, and the assembled armies answered with battle cries.
  • Patrick and his companions flew toward the upper levels while Luminas Sunstrider and Memphis-Shadow led efforts to rescue elves enslaved by the Lich King.
  • Patrick, Tirion Fordring, and the others encountered the resurrected Kel'Thuzad at Death Envoy's Rise.
  • Tirion Fordring killed Kel'Thuzad with one blow, and Patrick's magic destroyed the surrounding undead servants.

Ch. 628The Frozen Throne

Patrick and his allies entered Icecrown Citadel and confronted the Lich King at the Frozen Throne. As Ner'zhul summoned frost wyrms and gargoyles, Patrick raised an arcane barrier to protect the group.

  • Patrick led the group through Icecrown Citadel, where Saronite lined the Scourge stronghold and lesser undead stood restrained along their path.
  • Patrick, Illidan, Kael'thas, and Tirion Fordring used the central magic circle to reach the Frozen Throne, where the Lich King greeted Patrick.
  • Tirion vowed to destroy Arthas, but Patrick stopped him and explained that Arthas's soul was trapped within Frostmourne and could only be freed by destroying the Lich King.
  • The Lich King mocked Patrick and offered to turn him into a lich, while Illidan, Kael'thas, and Tirion prepared to fight.
  • Ner'zhul summoned frost wyrms and gargoyles, and Patrick unleashed arcane power to form a barrier around the Frozen Throne and hold them back.
