Personality
Bibi Dong is calculating, ambitious, and forceful. She invests heavily in Spirit Hall’s next generation, conceals promising assets when useful, and measures recruits by their practical value. Her decision to keep Tang San as a tournament substitute reflects her preference for retaining hidden advantages rather than displaying all her strength immediately 3.
Her judgment initially bends around Yu Xiaogang: she defends his theoretical reputation when Tang San questions his teaching. Later, she rejects his attempts to exploit their past relationship, dismisses his exaggerated reputation, and refuses to sacrifice Tang San for him. The narration connects this change with her freedom from heaven’s will and Rakshasa’s control 2 47 88.
She is affectionate and fiercely protective toward Tang San, but that attachment does not erase her suspicion or ambition. His rapid growth eventually gives her a sense of crisis, even while she continues to defend him publicly. Her hunt for powerful Soul Beasts reflects her determination not to fall behind her own successor 51 88 97 98.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Bibi Dong possesses two Martial Souls and offers Tang San specialized guidance after recognizing that he shares this rare trait 3.
- Recognizes his Clear Sky Hammer and deduces his connection to Tang Hao 3.
- Instructs him to conceal his second Martial Soul unless his life is threatened 3.
- Still needs additional Soul Rings for her own second Martial Soul during the forest-hunting arc 95.
Death Spider Emperor
Her first Martial Soul transforms her into a gigantic venomous spider surrounded by an aura of death 97.
- Frontal attack power: Da Ming and Er Ming’s formidable bodies cannot withstand her direct attacks 97.
- Venom: Poisons both hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts; their continued exertion accelerates the poison’s effects 97.
- Pursuit: Her transformed legs carry her through the forest at tremendous speed 97.
- Ring configuration: Possesses nine Soul Rings, including a red hundred-thousand-year ring 97.
Spiritual Tracking and Containment
Bibi Dong combines spiritual tracking with patient encirclement rather than risking an unnecessary close-range finish 97 98.
- Maintains a spiritual lock on Da Ming and Er Ming while her forces follow from roughly a thousand meters away 98.
- Directs five Titled Douluo to contain the targets and wait for her poison to weaken them 98.
- Demonstrated limit: A sudden golden attacker momentarily disrupts her spiritual power, opening an escape route for the beasts 98.
Soul Power Barriers
She constructs a purple-black circular barrier around Tang San and Light Feather Douluo so their confrontation can proceed inside the Main Hall 119.
- Assures both combatants that they need not restrain themselves out of concern for their surroundings 119.
- The barrier’s strength reveals her increased Soul Power to Light Feather Douluo 119.
Political and Military Command
Bibi Dong develops Spirit Hall into an imperial power while using appointments, resources, and battlefield achievements to strengthen her chosen successor 47 51 115.
- Grants Tang San an Elder Token, full cultivation support, and Yue Guan’s protection 3.
- Entrusts him with the Heaven Dou side of the Soul Hunting Operation to establish his credentials against Worship Hall criticism 47.
- Preserves Spirit Hall’s existing institutions after founding the empire, while installing Tang San as Pope 115.
- Prioritizes internal consolidation, army training, and control of newly acquired territories before further expansion 115.
Equipment
- Nine-Curved Purple Gold Crown — Worn at her first meeting with Tang San 2.
- Staff — Carried during her duties as Pope; its specific combat properties are not described 2 51.
- Ceremonial robes — Includes gold-edged black robes and purple robes 2 46.
History
Earlier Leadership
Qian Daoliu chose Bibi Dong as Pope because of her youth, ambition, and talent, believing she could lead Spirit Hall’s next generation. She had already reached the Titled Douluo realm when she took office 95 116.
She bore no affection for Qian Xunji. The narration states that she personally assassinated him and later specifies that she devoured him; Qian Daoliu did not openly object 3 88.
Accepting Tang San
When Tang San arrives at Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong initially questions why Grandmaster’s disciple wants to join. His revelation of twin Martial Souls changes her attitude immediately. After recognizing the Clear Sky Hammer and identifying his parentage, she accepts him as her personal disciple 2 3.
She assigns Yue Guan as his guardian, gives him an Elder Token carrying an elder’s authority, and promises Spirit Hall’s resources for his development. She also places him on the academy tournament team as a substitute, preserving him as a hidden asset 3.
Following Spirit Hall Academy’s championship, she rewards both disciples. She compensates Tang San with a pure white Head Soul Bone for transferring the Heart Separation Control Method to Spirit Hall. Although she warns that Slaughter City is exceptionally dangerous, she ultimately permits both Tang San and Hu Liena to go 17 19.
Preparing Her Successor
After Tang San reaches rank fifty-five, Bibi Dong sends him to serve the Heaven Dou crown prince—Qian Renxue in disguise. She later explains that the assignment was intended to prepare him to inherit Spirit Hall 23 46.
When she summons him over his interference with a Soul Beast hunt, she accepts his personal motives rather than treating the incident as betrayal. She nevertheless warns him against recklessly absorbing hundred-thousand-year Soul Rings. Their discussion then turns to securing the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s wealth and the value of Dai Mubai’s group, whose recruitment she attributes to a powerful being’s favor 46 47.
Yu Xiaogang subsequently tries to have Tang San expelled by invoking his relationship with her. Bibi Dong refuses, declares that his disciples collectively fall short of Tang San, and orders him to leave. She then places Tang San in command of the Heaven Dou operations for the Soul Hunting Operation 47.
After Tang San’s achievements win sufficient support, Qian Daoliu accepts her proposal to make him Acting Pope. Bibi Dong personally welcomes her disciple back and promises that no one in Spirit Hall will harm him while she remains Pope 51.
Conflict with the Worship Hall
The dispute over Oscar’s death and Mighty Lion Douluo’s severed arm brings Bibi Dong into open confrontation with the Worship Hall. She endorses Tang San’s defense of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and challenges the Worshippers to account for their absence during the Soul Hunting Operation 87 88.
She also rejects the argument that the Worship Hall’s superiority is justified merely because it is longstanding custom. Qian Daoliu ultimately acknowledges Mighty Lion Douluo’s wrongdoing while insisting that the Worship Hall and Pontiff Hall must continue checking each other’s power 89.
Hunt for Da Ming and Er Ming
Seeking the Soul Rings and Soul Bones needed to attempt a final breakthrough, Bibi Dong leads a major expedition against Da Ming and Er Ming. Her party includes six other Titled Douluo-level fighters, one of whom dies during the hunt 97 98.
After severely wounding and poisoning the beasts, she avoids their dying counterattack by maintaining distance and waiting for the venom to work. A golden figure suddenly strikes her and disrupts the encirclement, allowing both targets to escape. Bibi Dong halts pursuit and declares that she will hunt other hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts instead 98.
Founding the Spirit Hall Empire
Bibi Dong becomes the Spirit Hall Empire’s first sovereign. Its territory consists of more than a dozen former kingdoms and duchies between Heaven Dou and Star Luo, severing the two empires’ direct connection. Spirit Hall’s influence brings roughly seventy percent of the continent’s Soul Master forces under its control 115.
Rather than immediately pursuing further conquest, she consolidates the new empire, eliminates dissent, and trains its armies. She retains the Worship Hall, Elder Hall, and Spirit Hall, then names Tang San as the next Pope 115.
Tang San understands the appointment as an instruction to deal with the Worship Hall’s privileged position. When Light Feather Douluo challenges his qualifications and their dispute becomes a duel, Bibi Dong creates the protective barrier that allows them to fight inside the hall 116 119.
War with Heaven Dou and Star Luo
Even after Tang San succeeds as Pope, Bibi Dong continues managing the empire’s major affairs. When Heaven Dou and Star Luo attack simultaneously, she orders Hu Liena to summon sect leaders and senior Soul Masters for a war council, initially leaving Tang San free to cultivate 122 128.
Tang San nevertheless joins the campaign. Bibi Dong later sends a letter entrusting him with Jialing Pass and expressing confidence in his command 133.

- Hu Liena — Personal disciple and an earlier favored candidate for succession. Bibi Dong rewards her tournament success and reluctantly permits her to enter Slaughter City 19 43.
