"Demon Continent, here I come!"
Eris gazed eagerly at the barren land of the Demon Continent, looking forward to a grand adventure.
She sure is energetic, considering Rujierd scared her half to death just yesterday!
Rudeus grumbled inwardly.
The three traveled along rugged stretches that could barely even be called "roads," with Rujierd in front, Rudeus in the middle, and Eris bringing up the rear.
Protecting the mage was standard practice in a team fight. Walking at the front made it easy to get killed, while walking at the back made it easy to get picked off. The best place was in the middle of the group, where you could advance or retreat.
As it happened, Radeus had taught Rudeus this tactic.
The sun over the Demon Continent was as merciless as ever. As they walked across the barren land, even the air warped in the heat.
"It's so hot!"
Rudeus wiped the sweat from his face. He hadn't expected the Demon Continent's weather to be this extreme. It was like walking inside an oven.
The three had been walking since early morning, yet they still hadn't seen any sign of a village. Rudeus was almost starting to wonder whether anyone actually lived on the Demon Continent.
"Let's take a break!"
Rujierd spoke to Rudeus and Eris.
Given permission to rest, Rudeus quickly used Earth Magic to build a house where they could cool off in the shade.
"Want some water?"
Rudeus handed Rujierd and Eris a cup of water each. He had made the cups with Earth Magic and produced the water with Water Magic.
He couldn't call it all-natural and harmless, but at least it was clean.
"Thanks!"
