- After his first defeat by Lu Ze, wears a blood-staunching plaster or ointment over the wound on his neck 3 5.
Personality
Jia Lie Shan is arrogant and contemptuous toward collateral-branch disciples. He openly mocks Lu Ze’s years of sword practice and treats a potentially fatal scouting assignment as an opportunity to make him expendable. Other collateral disciples fear him enough to lower their heads and move aside when he approaches 1 2.
His humiliation develops into a sustained desire for revenge. Despite the Jia Lie Family’s conflict with the Xiao Clan, he recruits Xiao Ning to murder Lu Ze and demands that no evidence remain. He also aspires to obtain a Grade Jia residence and become the foremost member of the family’s younger generation 6 7 8.
His confidence collapses when he is personally threatened. After his first defeat, he trembles, uses honorifics toward Lu Ze, and flees to report to the patriarch. During their final confrontation, he invokes his uncle and the First Elder as protection 2 8.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Training Ground Confrontation
Jia Lie Shan interrupts Lu Ze at the family training ground and mocks his swordsmanship. Claiming to convey the patriarch’s orders, he assigns Lu Ze to lead collateral disciples as vanguard scouts at the disputed southern ore vein. He presents the mission as a test offering doubled resources for survival or ten gold coins in death compensation 1 2.
When his covert Dou Qi attack fails, Lu Ze cuts his longsword in half and leaves a hairline wound across his neck. Lu Ze refuses the assignment and demands fifty gold coins for his damaged iron sword. Jia Lie Shan flees to Jia Lie Bi, who rebukes him for risking the loss of a talented disciple and sends him to the mine to atone through service 2 3.
Mine Assassination Plot
At the mine deployment, Jia Lie Shan and Jia Lie Xiong send Lu Ze to scout the beast-infested C-Class Abandoned Mine Vein. Lu Ze refuses to endanger additional disciples and enters alone. Jia Lie Shan then directs Xiao Ning and five Xiao Clan fighters into the tunnel to kill him 5 6.
While waiting outside with two confidants, Jia Lie Shan celebrates Lu Ze’s presumed death and boasts about his future standing in the family. Lu Ze instead emerges unharmed and announces that he has killed all six attackers. Jia Lie Shan offers outward praise while secretly signaling his confidants to strike 7.
Crippling and Cover-Up
Lu Ze crushes both subordinates, then deliberately spares Jia Lie Shan’s life while destroying his dantian and meridians. After taking his money and pills, Lu Ze stages the site to suggest a mutually fatal clash between Xiao Clan forces and Jia Lie Shan’s men. He leaves disguised in a dead confidant’s clothing; Jia Lie Shan’s subsequent fate is not shown 8.
