- Clothing: Usually wears plain, loose white clothes 10 13.
- Eyes and hands: Has clear eyes and slender, fair wrists 10 13.

- Flight from Qingshan Town: Her clothes become stained with mud and blood, and she ties her hair back with a withered vine 27.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian is kindhearted and attentive to others’ injuries. After Lu Ze rescues her, she uses her remaining Dou Qi to stabilize him and carefully nurses his wounds. She also distributes protective medicine to the pavilion’s herb gatherers 12 13 14.
Her initial fear of Lu Ze changes to gratitude after he suppresses her poison body. She becomes increasingly concerned for his safety, checking him for injuries whenever he returns and preparing medicines for his expeditions 11 17 30.
Despite her limited strength in direct combat, she remains resourceful under pressure. During the mercenaries’ investigation, she maintains a calm front, conceals Lu Ze’s absence, and prepares poisonous defenses. Her composure does not mean she is unafraid: after turning away searchers, her palms are drenched in sweat 22 23 24.
Background / History
Rescue and Diagnosis
While gathering herbs in the Magical Beast Mountain Range, Xiao Yi Xian picks a rare Purple-Leaf Companion Demon Grass. Its escaping Poison Qi triggers the toxins already inside her, sealing her Dou Qi and consuming her vitality. Three Wolf Head mercenaries corner her at a cliff before Lu Ze intervenes and kills them 10 11.
Lu Ze identifies her condition as the Woeful Poison Body, rather than the ordinary weakness she had believed it to be. When it erupts, he confines the toxins within her dantian using the Great Wilderness Imprisoning Heaven Finger and administers the herb’s essence. He offers continued suppression and help finding a permanent solution if she stays with him as his physician; she accepts 11 12.
Tie Shan subsequently pursues them. Lu Ze hides her behind a boulder and kills him after a difficult fight. Xiao Yi Xian supports the wounded Lu Ze and helps him return to town 12 13.
Myriad Medicine Pavilion
At the Myriad Medicine Pavilion, Xiao Yi Xian treats Lu Ze’s injuries while he takes over the business. Over the following half month, she develops special ointments, antidote powders, and supplementary medicines, including the Cold Poison Pill 13.
The Wolf Head Mercenary Group continues threatening the pavilion. Lu Ze prevents Poison Wolf from seizing her, while Xiao Yi Xian later supplies Lu Ze with poison-smoke pellets for his operation against Zhao Tu 14 15 18.
When the mercenaries search Qingshan Town for an injured thief, she claims Lu Ze is in seclusion, keeps the herb-gathering team inside, and turns away investigators with warnings about poisonous preparations. Anticipating another visit, she places corrosive traps beneath the entrance 22 23 24.
During the assault, her Bone-Melting Water kills two attackers. She later strikes the deputy commander’s existing facial wound with a poisoned needle, interrupting his attack on Lu Ze. When Mu Li arrives, she releases dense yellow smoke to obscure the courtyard, allowing the pair to escape through a concealed drainage passage 25 26 27.
Flight to Cliffside Valley
After losing the pavilion, Xiao Yi Xian flees into the mountains with Lu Ze. She treats his reopened wounds and warns that their remaining miasma medicines will offer only four to six hours of protection in Cliffside Valley 27.
Inside the valley, she identifies Ice Marrow Moss and improvises a protective coating from nearby plants when poisonous white fog burns Lu Ze. After they obtain a Twofold Flower, an awakening Earth Dragon causes the valley’s exit to collapse 28 29.
In a cavern behind a waterfall, she processes the flower into two crude Ice-Fire Body Tempering Pills. Lu Ze takes one, repairing his damaged meridians and recovering his strength. Before he returns to the earthfire fissure, she gives him a short-lived protective paste against fire poison 29 30.
Abilities & Skills
Woeful Poison Body
A rare constitution that converts consumed poison into Dou Qi without ordinary cultivation. Its uncontrolled eruption threatens both its possessor and surrounding life 11.
- Poison conversion: Swallowing poison can ease the condition while producing large amounts of Dou Qi 11.
- Eruption symptoms: Rampaging toxins, black markings beneath the skin, and corrosive emissions 11.
- Fatal risk: Lu Ze describes a complete eruption as causing loss of reason, indiscriminate killing, and eventual death from poison 11.
- Temporary suppression: Lu Ze’s gravity technique confines the toxins in her dantian; Purple-Leaf Companion Demon Grass essence reduces their spread 11.
- Treatment limits: The herb’s medicinal effect lasts one month. Lu Ze estimates that gravity suppression alone only buys several months and offers daily treatment 11.
- Immediate restriction: After the first suppression, Lu Ze warns her against carelessly circulating Dou Qi 12.
Herbal Medicine and Treatment
Xiao Yi Xian has an intuitive understanding of herbs, particularly poisons, and exceptional talent for preparing medicine. She nevertheless distinguishes her preparations from proper alchemy, stating that she is not yet an alchemist 11 13 29.
- Wound care: Prepares hemostatic medicine, applies ointments, changes dressings, and treats reopened injuries 13 27.
- Precise processing: Removes the poisonous membrane from Snake Egg Grass intact and adjusts grinding pressure to control the Twofold Flower’s conflicting properties 22 29.
- Environmental diagnosis: Recognizes Ice Marrow Moss as evidence of extreme cold or underground cold Qi 28.
- Field preparation: Makes protective medicines from available plants while fleeing through dangerous terrain 27 28.
| Preparation | Ingredients / Method | Effect and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Hemostatic Powder and wound ointments | Prepared for Lu Ze’s injuries | Promotes clotting and wound recovery; his shoulder wound begins scabbing during treatment 13. |
| Cold Poison Pill | Purple-Leaf Companion Demon Grass roots and stems with Frost Poison Python venom | Provides a temporary internal barrier against poison for one hour; also distributed to herb gatherers facing miasma 13 14. |
| Miasma-Repelling Salve | Made from the pair’s remaining herbs during their escape | Their available protective medicines are estimated to last four to six hours in Cliffside Valley 27. |
| Fog-resistant coating | Crushed Ice-Crack Vines and Fire Hemp Mushrooms | Hardens into a grayish-brown shell on the skin, allowing passage through corrosive white fog 28. |
| Ice-Fire Body Tempering Pills | Twofold Flower blended with Coldwater Grass and Frost Marrow Grass | Produces two crude pills; one repairs Lu Ze’s meridians and restores him to peak condition. Residual impurities remain 29. |
| Fire-poison protective paste | Frost Marrow Grass and snow lotus seeds | Applied to the skin to keep out fire poison; lasts only a short time 30. |
Poison Formulation and Combat
Xiao Yi Xian uses prepared toxins, concealed needles, and traps rather than relying on direct clashes of Dou Qi 18 24 26.
- Dou Qi-disrupting poison: Combines Purple-Leaf Companion Demon Grass juice, Frost Poison Python venom, and deadwood ash. Inhalation or contact briefly delays Dou Qi circulation; it does not dissolve Dou Qi or killing intent. Zhao Tu can partially suppress its effect through his stronger cultivation 18 19.
- Portable smoke pellets: Makes three crushable poison-smoke pellets at Lu Ze’s request 18.
- Bone-Melting Water: Conceals corrosive liquid beneath the pavilion’s threshold, killing two mercenaries and injuring the deputy commander 24 25 26.
- Poisoned silver needles: Uses Ice Toad Poison Python venom. One needle entering the deputy commander’s facial wound numbs his face and contributes to the paralysis of his left side; his defenses deflect the other two 26.
- Corrosive yellow smoke: Fills the rear courtyard with thick, clinging fumes that spread around Mu Li’s defensive Qi wall and obstruct visibility 26.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Small silver knife: Used for precise herb processing and venom-gland preparation 18 22.
- Silver balance: Used to weigh medicinal ingredients 17.
- Poisoned silver needles: Concealed weapons used against the deputy commander 26.
- Protective face coverings: Wears gauze while preparing poison and a medicinally soaked cloth when releasing corrosive smoke 18 26.
- Jade bottle of remaining venom: Gives Lu Ze her last Purple-Leaf Half-Demon Grass venom after their escape 27.
Relationships
- Lu Ze — Rescuer, employer, and traveling companion. Their arrangement begins with his demand that she follow him in return for poison-body suppression. It develops into mutual protection: she repeatedly treats and assists him, while he shields her from attackers. He embraces her before returning to the earthfire fissure 11 12 13 26 30.
- Lao Li — Pavilion colleague who reports suspicious activity and follows her instructions during the mercenary investigation. His foul-smelling Rotbone Flower preparation helps drive away searchers 22 23.
- Myriad Medicine Pavilion herb gatherers — Recipients of her protective medicines; they express gratitude for the additional safety her preparations provide 14.
- Wolf Head Mercenary Group — Enemies who threaten her at the cliff, harass the pavilion, and eventually force her and Lu Ze to flee Qingshan Town 10 14 24 27.
- Mu Li — Commander pursuing the pair after the pavilion assault. Her corrosive smoke helps cover their escape, but his forces continue hunting them 26 27 29.
