Isolation and Academy Restart

Naruto grows up facing widespread hostility in Konoha, where villagers regard him as a monster. He had previously enrolled at the Academy without finding anyone who liked him, so Hiruzen Sarutobi arranges for him to start over with a new class. Shibi Aburame has corrected his sons’ misconceptions about Naruto, but Hiruzen’s orders prevent him from revealing Naruto’s parentage 5.

Naruto lives alone in a somewhat rundown apartment. Hiruzen provides living expenses and visits occasionally, but Naruto lacks instruction in basic household matters. His diet includes instant noodles and milk, and he initially does not understand expiration dates or proper fish preparation 25 39 40 47.

Friendship with Shihui

On the new school year’s opening day, Shihui approaches Naruto and directly asks to be his friend. Naruto is astonished and initially worries that Shihui does not know people call him a monster. Neither Shihui nor Shino changes his attitude when classmates begin whispering about him 5.
