Background / History
The Divine Realm is a higher life-level space with purer energy and more pervasive laws than mortal worlds. It is not located on a planet, and is only one of countless Divine Realms in the boundless universe. Its jurisdiction includes Douluo Star and over a hundred other mortal planes. 152
An ancient war between beast-type and human-type gods devastated the realm, causing the deaths or fall of numerous deities, including the Ice God Bing Xuantian. Vacant beast-type God Positions later became available for human inheritance. 90 225
The realm became increasingly involved with Douluo Star after Guang Yu emerged as the Ice God's inheritor. Hundreds of gods projected their Divine Sense to the mortal world and competed to offer him their God Positions, while the Sea God and Asura God instead plotted to eliminate him before his ascension. 157 201
Guang Yu's creation of a God King-level Divine Position through the Laws of Light and Sword Dao was registered by the Divine Realm's central hub, alarming deities and Divine Officials across the realm. The event signaled the arrival of a sixth God King and destabilized the existing balance of power. 221 222
After Guang Yu's ascension, the Divine Realm became the site of the Purgatory War between his faction and the alliance of the Asura God and Sea God. The conflict exposed the Asura God's violations of Divine Realm rules, ended with his execution, and led to Guang Yu becoming a Divine Realm Law Enforcer. 243 255 256
Ten thousand years later, the Divine Realm faces a spacetime turbulence capable of engulfing or destroying it. The crisis gathers all divine ranks at the Divine Realm Core, where they attempt to maintain the realm's barriers through a sustained collective release of divine power and spiritual power. 262 264
Divine Hierarchy
| Rank | Documented scale | Position in the realm |
|---|---|---|
| God Kings | Five during Guang Yu's rise; seven by the later spacetime-turbulence crisis 205 262 | The realm's highest authorities, responsible for major decisions, law enforcement, and access to the Divine Realm Core 222 264 |
| First-level Gods | Around 20 205 | High-ranking deities; every First-level God possesses an exclusive Divine Artifact 238 |
| Second-level Gods | 216 205 | Most lack Divine Artifacts, though a small minority possess them 238 |
| Third-level Gods | 1,847 205 | Possess divine armor but no Divine Artifacts 238 |
| Hundred-level Divine Officials | More than 10,000 205 | The lowest god-level class; patrol, guard, perform errands, and carry out assigned duties 206 |
Although the realm publicly promotes equality among gods, divine rank determines practical influence and social standing. Higher-level gods maintain factions and subordinate forces, while Divine Officials occupy the lowest institutional position. 215 206
Governance
Divine Realm Committee
Major decisions are jointly decided by the God Kings. When they disagree, the realm uses a voting system in which the minority follows the majority. Any God King may join the Divine Realm Committee and serve as a Divine Realm Law Enforcer. 222
Guang Yu becomes a Law Enforcer after the Asura God's fall, taking responsibility for judgment and laws within the realm. 256
God Positions and Ascension
- A God Position grants true godhood and eternal life; its level also affects a deity's authority and standing. 206 215
- God Positions can advance when an exceptionally powerful inheritor transforms or strengthens the position itself. 148
- Hundred-level Divine Officials are god-level beings, but do not possess eternal life and may seek God Positions to become true gods. 206
- Mortals who become gods may normally remain in their mortal plane for up to one hundred years before ascending. 241
- A mortal plane cannot safely sustain too many gods at once; the presence of fifteen gods on Douluo Star prompted the Divine Realm to urge their ascension. 240 241
Divine Realm Core
The Divine Realm Core is the realm's central power source. Control of it can assist in mobilizing the divine power of all gods and, according to the God of Destruction, could restrain even God Kings. 254 264
- The Core is opened with three Divine Realm Core Keys. 264 355
- The Asura God once held a Central Key and attempted to trade it to the God of Destruction for protection. 253
- The God of Destruction sought the Core to expand the Divine Realm and attack other Divine Realms, but this ambition was opposed by other God Kings. 222 254
- The realm is stabilized by 108 Thought Power Pillars; their survival provides a greater chance of resisting spacetime turbulence. 263
Territories and Access
Each deity possesses a personal god domain. Higher-ranked God Positions command larger domains; a God King's domain can be comparable to a small world. The Asura God Domain lies in the Divine Realm's central region. 243
- Divine Realm Gate — a portal and teleportation channel through which gods may ascend from Douluo Star. 242
- Divine Realm Core — the realm's central hub and emergency command point during the spacetime crisis. 264
- Asura God Domain — the Asura God's central-region territory and the primary battlefield of the Purgatory War. 243 246
- Light God Domain / Light Sword God Domain — Guang Yu's domain after his ascension. 257 261
- Time God Domain — the secluded domain of the Time God, who rarely leaves it despite being aware of major events in the realm. 243
Major Factions
- Seven Great Original Sin Gods — the God of Greed, Sloth, Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Desire, and Wrath. They serve under the God of Destruction and can combine their powers into a formation capable of threatening a God King. 215 253 254
- Seven Element Gods — Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Space. They were sworn allies of the Ice God and form one of the Divine Realm's two major group factions. 175 250
- Asura God's forces — the Asura God commanded Law Enforcement Divine Officials and gathered subordinate gods and officials to oppose Guang Yu's faction. 215 243
- Guang Yu's law-enforcement force — by the later era, Guang Yu commands Law Enforcement Gods, officers, and Divine Officials; his faction surpasses the God of Destruction's in overall strength. 262
Spacetime Turbulence Crisis
Spacetime turbulence is formed by the interaction, collision, or encroachment of spatial planes and parallel spaces. It can accumulate time-and-space energy over tens of thousands of years until it becomes a black-hole-like force capable of swallowing Divine Realms. 262
The turbulence approaching the Douluo Divine Realm is revealed to be ten times larger than expected. It threatens to prevent mortals from becoming gods, destroy the realm's barriers, and kill Divine Officials and lower-ranked gods if the Divine Realm is drawn inside. 263 264
- All seven God Kings gather at the Divine Realm Core to coordinate the defense. 264
- First-level, Second-level, and Third-level Gods, alongside more than ten thousand Divine Officials, release divine and spiritual power to reinforce the realm's shields. 264
- The prolonged resistance exhausts lower ranks first: Divine Officials and Third-level Gods collapse, while the protective layers begin to disintegrate faster than they can be replenished. 264
- Guang Yu serves as supreme commander during the later defense, ordering all gods and Divine Officials to reinforce the outer walls and protective layers. 355
