Actually, I'm from a Gang
While almost everyone at the scene scrambled to keep their distance, Daisy Johnson stepped forward bravely without hesitation, her gaze firm.
The moment the two sides clashed, sparks flew, and a fierce fight broke out.
Intent on showing her master her newly acquired power, Daisy Johnson's eyes shone with excitement and resolve as she unleashed the shockwaves within her at full force.
First, she exerted a sudden burst of power, blasting one of the men in a floral shirt away like a cannonball.
The invisible air cannon carried tremendous force, instantly kicking up a cloud of sand. The unlucky man was blasted more than a meter away and landed on the beach with a thud, sending sand flying.
The move made the thugs freeze for a moment, surprise crossing their faces. Then several of the pursuing thugs freely unleashed their modified abilities.
Their hands or arms began to glow and heat up like red-hot branding irons, radiating a terrifying heat.
Li Qi, who stood ready behind her, recognized them at once. They were probably people modified by the Extremis Virus, possessing unusual powers and physical abilities far beyond ordinary people, as well as the ability to regrow severed limbs. Their abilities were fairly impressive.
Worried that the little slave girl he had just trained might get hurt or come off worse, he strode over.
After the two sides faced off for several seconds, Shang-Chi, who had certainly witnessed the abilities displayed by their pursuers before, hurriedly spoke to Li Qi and Daisy Johnson, his face full of concern.
"Thank you both for helping, but the people behind us are physically too powerful. I'm afraid we're no match for them."
His girlfriend Katy was so nervous that her speech became somewhat incoherent. Her face was deathly pale, and all she could think of was escaping. She gripped Shang-Chi's hand tightly and kept tugging hard at him, wanting to keep running.
Li Qi remained calm and waved a hand, telling Shang-Chi that none of them posed a threat and that they were merely small fry.
After the two sides faced off for another dozen seconds or so, the thugs charged again, relying on their superior numbers. Three men whose bodies had been modified by the Extremis Virus led the charge.
The bald man at the front had bulging muscles and burning, reddened skin. His heated hands were far more useful than daggers or steel pipes, seemingly capable of easily tearing through anything in his way.
Li Qi thrust out both hands like eagle claws, seized two of the modified men with precision, and flung them hard, sending the two Extremis Virus subjects flying into the sea like kites with snapped strings. For a moment, the sea hissed and bubbled as it boiled, steam rising from it.
Meanwhile, Daisy Johnson and Shang-Chi fought more than a dozen ordinary robbers barehanded.
Daisy Johnson had already blasted two thugs away with shockwaves, while Shang-Chi had knocked down three with his crisp punches and kicks. For a moment, the fight reached something of a stalemate.
Li Qi unleashed his strength again, kicking the third modified man several meters away. Then, like a tiger descending a mountain, he darted about and easily knocked down four or five of the opposing robbers.
The fight became entirely one-sided, and victory seemed all but secured.
One of the bald modified men struggled up from the sand, madness in his eyes. Without a word, he charged recklessly and grabbed Li Qi like a ravenous tiger pouncing on its prey.
Li Qi knew full well that these modified men could self-destruct, and his heart tightened. Even he did not dare casually test whether he could withstand temperatures of two or three thousand degrees and a self-detonation.
So before the man could close both arms around him, he moved like a phantom and tore off one of the man's arms. What flowed out was not blood, but a strange, faintly glowing liquid.
After casually kicking the man away, Li Qi sprinted another two steps forward and spoke to the people around him.
"Spread out! That man might blow himself up! Everyone, get clear!"
Hearing words like "explosion" and "blow himself up," the people nearby instantly turned deathly pale and dropped flat on the spot.
Li Qi shielded Daisy Johnson as they ran several steps forward. Sure enough, a deafening bang rang out behind them. The man modified by the Extremis Virus had indeed detonated himself, sending sand and dirt flying.
Katy screamed in terror, her face as white as paper, and hid in Shang-Chi's arms. Without hesitation, Shang-Chi used his body to shield her from the flying sand.
Seeing this, the dozen or twenty-odd robbers, along with the other two modified men, knew they could no longer capture Shang-Chi. Frightened, they all slunk away.
Meanwhile, Li Qi secretly had the AI JARVIS track down leads on these people. Li Qi had gradually connected JARVIS to various public networks, the network interfaces of major companies, and the surveillance networks of several important government departments, so tracking them was not particularly difficult.
Only after the dust settled did Katy stop screaming and look around in disbelief. As she gazed at the handsome Asian man before her, her eyes filled with admiration.
Li Qi had clearly noticed her gaze as well, but he chose to ignore Katy.
After slipping out of Shang-Chi's protection, Katy hurried over and thanked Li Qi profusely for his brave intervention. "Sir, sir, thank you so much for this! You really saved our lives. You were so brave and righteous."
Through being with Shang-Chi, Katy had picked up a few Eastern expressions. After speaking, she tried to take Li Qi's hand to express her gratitude. Li Qi politely avoided her and said,
"It was nothing. Don't dwell on it. I'll go have a word with your friend first." With that, he walked toward Shang-Chi and waved to him.
By now, Shang-Chi had also calmed down and was thanking Li Qi. Li Qi waved a hand and told him, "It was just a little thing, hardly any effort. Come on, let's go sit at my place and get some rest."
Hearing this, Katy hurriedly signaled to Shang-Chi with her eyes, her gaze full of anticipation, urging him to accept Li Qi's invitation to visit his home.
Katy also wanted to take the opportunity to learn more about what the home of this Asian man who had impressed her so much looked like.
But when she saw Daisy Johnson, the highly skilled woman of mixed Chinese and Western ancestry standing nearby, a hint of comparison arose in Katy's mind.
Thinking to herself, Katy tugged at her boyfriend, who was still hesitating.
Shang-Chi, meanwhile, thought they should not impose on him and instinctively wanted to refuse. But when he saw his girlfriend blinking at him in a signal, he could only nod.
After all, his girlfriend had stayed with him when he worked in a restaurant and when he worked as a parking lot security guard. He also frequently met with her family and got along very well with them, so he really could not bear to refuse this small request of hers.
So Shang-Chi nodded and said very politely, "Then sorry for the trouble, sir."
