- The five factions form a five-pointed defensive arrangement, with their frontier territories protecting the human interior 1416.
- They jointly establish laws governing internal clan wars and conduct outside human territory 1429 1457.
- Their interests are not always aligned: Chu Tiannan notices competition between factions at the King’s Temple. During the Milky Way invasion, their leaders set aside those divisions 1631 1855.
Principal Leaders

| Chu Tiannan / Chaos Throne | Publicly designated the next leader despite his initial reluctance. Later commands humanity during the Milky Way war and becomes the Heavenly God responsible for its survival and rise 1710 1759 1856 1889. |
King’s Temple and Hidden Experts
- The King’s Temple hosts gatherings of humanity’s senior Throne-level powerhouses 1631.
- Attendance does not reveal humanity’s entire Throne-level strength. Entry requires a review, and experts such as Illusory Heaven Throne have not yet reached their review period 1652.
- The Virtual World Group reports eight Throne-level seats, down from eleven at its historical height 1632.
- Additional human Thrones reside in the Ancestral Palace Divine Domain and constitute a secret force 1808.
Territory
| Region | Importance |
|---|---|
| Eastern, Southern, Western, Northern, and Central Universes | Five principal divisions of the original human territory 1063. |
| Heavenly Firmament, Primordial Beginning, Big Dipper, Gemini, and Primal Universes | The other five original domains. The human Primal Universe is humanity’s earliest universe, distinct from the wider Primal Universe governed by the Supreme Will 1063 1816. |
| Eastern Universe | Strategic gateway connecting the other principal regions. Its loss would sever their connections 1804. |
| Galaxy Star Region | Eastern frontier developed by Chu Tiannan into the new Chaos Cosmic Nation 1554 1563. |
| Milky Way | Contains Earth and becomes the central defensive gateway during the war against the Underworld Clan, Apostles, and Insect Race 1563 1855. |
- Humanity’s original ten universes occupy roughly one percent of the Cosmic Sea, with unusually rich resources contributing to its pinnacle status 1441.
- Population pressure eventually brings the ten universes close to capacity, with humans inhabiting essentially every planet 1450.
- During the disappearance crisis, humanity effectively abandons five outer universes. The Five Emperors City Lord stations his five clones in the remaining five 1816.
- The same consolidation merges approximately one hundred thousand Cosmic Kingdoms in pairs to strengthen defenses 1816.
- After the final victory, human territory expands to twenty universes, containing a million Cosmic Kingdoms 1889.
Membership and Lineages
- Physical diversity: Humans include green-skinned people, naturally bald three-eyed people, and giant-bodied lineages. Appearance alone does not reliably distinguish humans from other races 473 1471.
- Inherited advantages: Different human types may possess exceptional strength, stone-like bodies, speed, or unusually powerful souls and wills 744.
- Earthling lineage: Chu Tiannan’s home lineage gains wider recognition through his achievements and through Shen Tianwu and the Thunder Emperor attaining Three-Star Knight titles 745.
- Luo God Clan: A major God Race under the Papal Palace, descended from Luo God Throne, one of humanity’s founding protectors 1186 1284.
- Tianhua Clan: A human warrior lineage distinguished by small, sharp golden horns on the forehead 1428.
- Mecha humans: Alita remains a recognized human despite extensive mechanical reconstruction. Her identity is checked by the Virtual World Group before her admission to Five Emperors City 1085 1187.
- Underworld Clan: Formerly part of humanity through the Mingdao Cosmic Nation, but later becomes a hostile, separate power 1201 1286.
Laws and Collective Defense
- Unity abroad: Outside the ten human universes, humans are forbidden to kill one another, frame fellow humans, or collaborate with aliens against their own race, regardless of private grudges 1457.
- Collective punishment: Violators, their teams, and potentially their clans face punishment extending to extermination of nine familial branches 1457.
- Network enforcement: Virtual network identities allow offenders to be identified and wanted notices circulated to human experts operating abroad 1457.
- Internal clan warfare: Rules established by the five factions prohibit the Luo God and Tianhua Clans from seeking outside assistance in their feud 1429.
- Protection of Thrones: Human Thrones are treated as irreplaceable racial assets. Killing one without cause carries a requirement that the killer pay with their life; Battle Emperor Throne’s killing of another human Throne becomes a major controversy 1633.
- Heavenly Ladder Teams: These teams provide powerful cultivators with comradeship, mutual assistance, and a lasting sense of belonging 1626.

History
Early Humanity and the Heavenly War of Destruction
The Primogenitor founded humanity’s leadership and created the Virtual World System. Early protectors included Luo God Throne and the Five Emperors City Lord, whose rise preceded the cosmic nations 1241 1284 1828.
Aode recalls that roughly three hundred billion years earlier, humanity possessed a million Cosmic Venerables during a great war against the Insect Race and Demon Clan 1107. During the Heavenly War of Destruction, human forces also contested the Gemini Xuan Domain against numerous alien races 1286.
The Mingdao Cosmic Nation betrayed the Chaos Cosmic Nation during that war. Lord Mingdao ambushed the Chaos Lord, Darkness Throne died intercepting a subsequent attack, and the Five Emperors City Lord rescued the Chaos Lord before his nation’s destruction. The betrayal became a lasting source of hostility toward the Underworld Clan 1286.
The Primogenitor’s long absence was initially surrounded by uncertainty. He later revealed that he had died fighting the Apostle Clan and survived only as a soul preserved by the Supreme Will 1555 1828.
Earth’s Development
Earth initially depended on advanced weapons and powerful Martial Artists to resist Demon Beasts occupying much of the planet. Its First Chairman was regarded as the strongest human on Earth, not the leader of all cosmic humanity 234 395.
After the Primordial Star Beast battle, knowledge of the wider universe accelerated Earth’s development. Within ten years, humans could settle Mars, five million new Martial Gods had appeared, and Earth possessed nearly two hundred Cosmic-level experts and three Star-level experts 467.
Later expansion transformed additional Solar System planets into inhabited worlds. Thousands of years afterward, the Battle of Heaven’s Fall devastated Earth and neighboring planets; civilization recovered, eventually entering the technologically advanced Zalem era in which Alita emerged 745 1101.
Chonglou Tower Conflict
Human Heavenly Ladder Teams gathered at Chonglou Tower under the protection of their senior experts. Hostilities with the Underworld Clan spread across the islands after news of its attacks circulated through the Virtual World Network 1471 1490.
Ghost Spider detonations incapacitated more than half of the human teams’ fighting strength. Wu and Cailing protected survivors, while Alita organized a last stand. Chu Tiannan subsequently emerged from seclusion, restored his allies, and confronted the Underworld Clan’s combined attack 1515 1516 1523.
The Justice Alliance won the treasure struggle. Celestial Venerable Tailuo claimed eighty percent of the supreme treasures for humanity but allowed the defeated enemy leaders to withdraw to avoid provoking a wider war 1532.
Chu Tiannan’s Succession
After Chu Tiannan reached Throne level, Desolate Heaven Throne advocated placing the race’s resources behind him and considered granting him their teacher’s token, which could establish his authority over humanity 1672.
Chu initially rejected the prospect of leading the entire race. During the Dragon Clan Temple expedition, however, the Five Emperors City Lord publicly announced him as humanity’s next leader, with Desolate Heaven Throne tacitly approving 1710 1759.
Disappearance Crisis and Territorial Retreat
The unexplained disappearance of the Machine Race spread distrust and caused the Justice and Dark Alliances to collapse. Further disappearances, including the Elf Race’s, prompted humanity to consolidate its population and defenses into five principal universes 1806 1809 1816.
The Primogenitor then warned Chu Tiannan that humanity faced immediate danger and that Desolate Heaven Throne had fallen. Chu’s Bauhinia clone guarded the Milky Way gateway as enemy forces approached 1828 1838.
Milky Way War
| Phase | Events |
|---|---|
| Mobilization | The Underworld Clan, Apostles, and Insect Race attack across three fronts. Humanity gathers over ninety percent of its fighting strength within one week 1855. |
| Unified command | Leaders of all five factions assemble at the Chaos Temple under Chu Tiannan. More than one hundred thousand upper-rank experts gather there 1855 1856. |
| Western crisis | Three days of combat consume nearly ninety percent of humanity’s energy reserves, leaving fleets unable to replenish their weapons 1859. |
| Ramming offensive | Alita orders depleted ships to ram the Insect Race and commits the SSS-class fleets. Crews also use self-destruction after being boarded 1860 1862 1863. |
| Insect Race defeat | A super battleship powered by a Heavenly God Core annihilates the western enemy force. Human experts shield the surviving fleets from its destructive blast 1865 1866. |
| Underworld counteroffensive | Human fleets and cultivators engage the Underworld Clan at every major rank; destructive shock waves inflict heavy casualties on both sides 1869 1876. |
| Nether Heavenly God’s attack | Nether Heavenly God shatters humanity’s joint barrier, routing its Throne- and Lord-level defenders 1881. |
| Allied intervention | Human, Star Beast, and Sea Race forces fight the combined Underworld and Apostle armies 1886. |
| Victory | Chu Tiannan defeats the enemy leadership. The Apostle Clan, its vassals, and the contracted Underworld Clan disintegrate, ending humanity’s existential crisis 1889. |
Postwar Prosperity
Over the following epoch, humanity became a Heavenly God Race and the strongest power in the Primal Universe. Its territory doubled, its population flourished without natural enemies, and Throne-level cultivators became too numerous to count 1889.
The former Milky Way frontier developed into the prosperous Chaos City, ruled by Chu Tiannan. His later summons to the Origin World required him to depart within one cosmic era, though his clones could remain behind 1889.
