Background

Dai Mubai is the Star Luo Empire’s third prince. The imperial family possesses the Evil Eye White Tiger Martial Soul, and Zhu Zhuqing is his fiancée through her family’s arrangements. The eldest prince casts a substantial shadow over him, although Dai Mubai believes he can at least fight back against that opponent 13 14 16 21.

At Shrek Academy, he is the strongest student of the younger generation and regards himself as the school’s public face. While living in Suotuo City, he conceals his royal identity rather than openly invoke it in a foreign land 14 19.

Personality

Dai Mubai is arrogant, confrontational, and accustomed to deference. At the Rose Hotel, he bypasses waiting guests because he believes his status exempts him from queuing, then reacts angrily when the receptionist refuses him. He also frequents the hotel to hire prostitutes, conduct that contributes to Zhu Zhuqing’s contempt for him 15.

His pride centers on his fighting reputation and standing at Shrek. Chen Ci’s victory leaves him profoundly shaken; when Flender subsequently favors Chen Ci, Dai Mubai interprets it as the loss of his woman, reputation, and position. Nevertheless, he obeys the academy’s teachers even while resenting their instructions 16 19.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Ma Hongjun’s Arrest

After Ma Hongjun is imprisoned for attacking Chen Ci and attempting to seize Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, Dai Mubai tries to secure his release. Officers refuse because Chen Ci has arranged an extended detention. Unwilling to reveal his princely identity, Dai Mubai swallows his anger and vows revenge 14.

Defeat at the Rose Hotel

Dai Mubai arrives with two women and demands the hotel’s last room despite Chen Ci’s group having arrived first. Their dispute escalates into a duel 15.

Chen Ci reverses Dai Mubai’s defensive Soul Skills with Once, wounds him with Break Kill, and uses Sincerity to lower his guard before placing a sword against his throat. Dai Mubai leaves bleeding and distraught, having failed to touch an opponent five ranks below him 16.

Shrek Admissions and Fallout

While maintaining order at Shrek’s entrance, Dai Mubai encounters Chen Ci’s group again. An admissions teacher orders him to remove Chen Ci, only for Chen Ci to publicly identify him as a defeated opponent. Dai Mubai instead has to fetch Flender to consider Chen Ci’s request to assess the academy before enrolling 18 19.

His objection to Flender’s concessions is dismissed. Ning Rongrong then publicly condemns his behavior alongside that of Ma Hongjun and Oscar 19 20.

When Chen Ci invites Zhu Zhuqing to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Dai Mubai attempts to stop her. His intervention ends her hesitation: she rejects his authority over her and leaves with Chen Ci and Ning Rongrong 21.

Afterward, Flender blames Dai Mubai for the admissions debacle, changes his and Oscar’s training plans, and orders him to arrange several more days of imprisonment for Ma Hongjun 22.
