Background and History

Previous Life and Shrek Upbringing

Mu Changqing was an orphan on Blue Star whose childhood included bullying and deprivation. He died after drowning while drinking water and was reborn on the Douluo Continent as Mu En’s great-great-grandson and Bei Bei’s older twin brother. His awareness awakened at age three 1 38.

Using his knowledge of the original story, he began preparing both brothers for cultivation. Their routine combined exercise, a balanced diet, nourishment from the Golden Ancient Tree, and valuable foods such as thousand-year whale glue and light-attribute lesser-dragon meat. He hoped this foundation would stabilize their bloodlines enough to awaken complete Holy Dragons of Light 1.

His early goals were to achieve godhood, escape Tang San’s control over destiny, and save Mu En from his deteriorating health. He initially identified the Gold of Life and the immortal herbs of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as possible treatments for his great-great-grandfather 1.

Awakening and Early Cultivation

His awakening changed course when a strand of Tang San’s divine consciousness entered his Sea of Spirit through a spacetime rift. Mistaking him for Tang Wulin, it released the Golden Dragon King’s first seal. The resulting transformation subjected Mu Changqing to extreme pain but left him with the Golden Dragon Martial Soul and immediate access to Dragon Transformation 2 3 4.

After testing his punches against Xuan Zi, he chose a cultivation path centered on overwhelming physical strength. His first Soul Ring reinforced that approach with powerful defenses, though repeated sparring exposed his rapid Soul Power consumption. Zhang Lexuan consequently advised him to obtain a restorative third Soul Skill rather than pursue amplification alone 4 10 16.

Mu Changqing later gave Mu En a Life Crystal associated with Na’er. Mu En spent a year and two months absorbing it before emerging from seclusion, having completely absorbed the crystal 11 22.

Divine Allies and the Auspicious Beast

The God of Destruction identified Mu Changqing as an important variable in the struggle against Tang San. He stationed a divine thought in Mu Changqing’s Sea of Spirit, temporarily suppressed the future Tang San’s consciousness, and agreed to conceal Mu Changqing from Tang San’s probing 26.

With the God of Destruction and Goddess of Life assisting him, Mu Changqing purified the Soul-Devouring Carving Knife and acquired the Creation-Eye of Annihilation. His new eye later connected with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s Eye of Destiny, sharing their memories and binding their destinies 31 38 39.

Tang Wutong’s soul fragment attempted to consume the Auspicious Beast’s soul during that encounter. The God of Destruction intervened, allowing the beast to devour the fragment instead, and erased Tang San’s intervening divine consciousness. The Three-Eyed Golden Lion chose the name Mu Qiu’er and promised to visit Mu Changqing at Shrek 38 39.

Forging and Preparation for Succession

Mu Changqing trained at Gengxin City’s Blacksmiths’ Guild alongside Bei Bei, becoming a junior blacksmith after six months. He found that forging improved his control over his strength as well as supporting his cultivation 36 49.

Following his return to Shrek, Mu En transmitted his three supreme techniques to him. Mu Changqing adapted the technique requiring the Holy Dragon of Light into a fist art suited to his Golden Dragon King power. Mu En also arranged for him to enter the outer court’s second year after a one-year wait, intending him to build his own core team despite already having completed the theoretical curriculum 49 50.

Appearance

  • Build: Sturdier than Bei Bei from childhood, with increasingly pronounced muscular development under the Golden Dragon King bloodline 1 4 13.
  • Height: Reaches 1.6 meters at seven and 1.7 meters at nine; later stands slightly taller than Zhang Lexuan 22 27 48.
  • Dragon traits: Martial Soul possession produces golden scales and enlarged Golden Dragon Claws. His eyes become golden dragon eyes when his bloodline is strongly stimulated 4 23.
  • External Soul Bone: His right claw becomes noticeably larger, tougher, and sharper than his left after fusion 20.
  • Vertical eye: The Creation-Eye of Annihilation appears between his eyebrows and can be concealed at will 31 32.

Personality

Mu Changqing is mature and steady compared with Bei Bei, but also teasing and openly affectionate toward those close to him. He supervises his younger brother’s progress, helps Zhang Lexuan prepare meals, and consistently comforts Na’er when she is frightened or insecure 6 14 15 21.

He is disciplined rather than solely reliant on talent. His training continues regardless of weather, and he deliberately compresses his Soul Power before advancing. By nine, he has completed the theoretical courses for all six outer-court years 16 17 27.

His preference for brute force can become a mental shortcut. Mu En has to prompt him to adapt an incompatible technique rather than dismiss it outright, after which Mu Changqing recognizes the need to use his intelligence instead of always relying on strength 49.

He can also be ruthless when he believes mercy would endanger others. He kills Chu Sheng after the latter’s cultivation is destroyed, reasoning that his remaining physical strength would still allow him to retaliate against ordinary people. At the same time, he criticizes Shrek’s troublemaking slogans and wants to reform the academy’s values when he succeeds Mu En 17 32.

Abilities and Skills

Golden Dragon King Martial Soul

His Martial Soul possesses ultimate strength and powerful bloodline suppression. Mu En identifies the Golden Dragon as one of the two purest ancient dragon bloodlines beneath the Dragon God 3.

  • Suppresses dragon Martial Souls except the Dragon God and Silver Dragon; even Mu En’s Holy Dragon of Light is affected 3.
  • Provokes an involuntary defensive response from Xuan Zi’s Taotie Divine Bull 4.
  • Grants Dragon Transformation immediately after awakening, enlarging his arms into scaled Golden Dragon Claws 4.
  • Allows a temporary full golden-dragon transformation when triggered by Na’er’s Silver Dragon awakening; this is an uncontrolled bloodline event rather than a demonstrated routine technique 23.

Golden Dragon King Seals and Blood Essence Skills

The sealed bloodline supplies abilities beyond his ordinary Soul Rings, but its will can attempt to overpower him 4 21.

  • Golden Dragon Body: Obtained through the second seal’s Blood Essence Soul Ring. Its scale coverage has no time limit, unlike Dragon King Overlord Body 13.
  • Golden Dragon Tyrant Body: Provides three seconds of invincibility and triples his defense when demonstrated against Bei Bei’s cannon attack 44.
  • Bloodline risk: The Golden Dragon King briefly takes control and causes him to injure Na’er. He subsequently uses pain and focused willpower to suppress it 21.
  • Flight limitation: Before his tenth seal, he expects to rely on flying Soul Tools rather than personally available dragon wings 15.

Soul Ring Skills

Skill Source Effects and Limits
Dragon King Overlord Body Thousand-year Tyrannosaurus; first ring Covers him in golden scales and increases both defenses by 100%, with further defensive gains as his Soul Power falls. Its high consumption is an early weakness 10.
Dragon Blood Boiling Thousand-year Darkgold Terrorclaw Bear; second ring Burns dragon blood to increase allies’ attack speed by 60% and movement speed by 70% within twenty meters. The boosts intensify with his battle excitement 20.
Golden Soul Power Twelve-thousand-year Diamond Dragon Elephant; third ring Converts his Soul Power into liquid for a teammate, increasing their reserves by 80%, halving Soul Skill cooldowns, and doubling skill power after cooldown. He also uses it to restore his own combat momentum 27 45.

Golden Dragon Terrorclaw

The Darkgold Terrorclaw Bear’s External Soul Bone fuses directly with his right Golden Dragon Claw 20.

  • Increases attack range and power by 20% 20.
  • Projects five dark-gold claw strikes with strong piercing and tearing power, pulverizing a wall during testing 20.

Creation-Eye of Annihilation

Created from the purified carving knife, the eye contains the combined divine powers of life and destruction and opens a second Sea of Spirit 31 34.

  • Releases life energy that eases pain and heals injuries 31 34.
  • Links memories and destiny with Mu Qiu’er’s Eye of Destiny 38 39.
  • Contains unstable mixed energies capable of cutting his Golden Dragon Claw before immediately healing it. At first, absorbing only a small amount fills his dantian 34.
  • Emits pressure strong enough to make Qian Duoduo wary 37.

Mu En’s Supreme Techniques

Mu En transfers the knowledge and accumulated insights of three techniques directly into Mu Changqing’s mind 49.

  • Sovereign’s Descent: Combines spiritual power with physical attacks and undermines defeated opponents’ confidence. Mu Changqing comprehends it within ten days; Xuan Zi praises its imposing force as stronger than Mu En’s version 49 50.
  • Dragon Emperor’s Evil-Shattering Fist: His adaptation of Dragon Emperor’s Evil-Shattering Rift. Four successive punches combine one, two, and three Soul Beast manifestations, followed by three manifestations reinforced with the Golden Dragon King phantom. Its strength grows with his cultivation 50.
  • Dragon Emperor’s Trembling Domain: Receives the technique’s imprint; it is derived from Sovereign’s Descent and specializes in dispelling evil. His use of it is not demonstrated in the provided chapters 49.

Forging and Training Design

  • Passes the junior blacksmith assessment and uses forging to refine strength control 36 49.
  • Proposes gravity Soul Tools after training under Xuan Zi’s gravity field. Fan Yu develops the idea into personal training equipment and gravity chambers 14 21.
  • Completes all six years of Shrek’s outer-court theoretical coursework before formally following Mu En’s enrollment plan 27 50.
