Background and History

Childhood and Awakening

Bei Bei is Mu Changqing’s younger twin brother and Mu En’s great-great-grandson. The twins grow up on Sea God Island under Zhang Lexuan’s attentive care. Before their awakenings, Mu Changqing involves Bei Bei in exercise, a balanced diet, and time beneath the Golden Ancient Tree to strengthen their foundations and nourish their bloodlines 1.

Bei Bei awakens first and perfectly inherits Mu En’s Holy Dragon of Light. His delight at possessing innate full Soul Power turns to panic when Mu Changqing’s awakening causes severe bleeding: he cries and struggles to reach his brother. Once Mu Changqing stabilizes, Bei Bei celebrates the revelation that his brother has the potential to become a god 2 3.

Shrek’s Soul Tool Successor

Mu En selects Mu Changqing and Bei Bei as the next generation’s Sea God Pavilion master and deputy master. To balance Shrek’s two departments, he places Mu Changqing in the Martial Soul Department and Bei Bei in the Soul Tool Department. The brothers continue studying under Mu En in the mornings before pursuing their specialized subjects 7.

Under Qian Duoduo, Bei Bei develops exceptional Soul Tool aptitude. He also contributes to Mu Changqing’s gravity-training tool proposal by suggesting automatic gravity adjustment and life monitoring. Both features appear in the gravity Soul Tools subsequently presented to the academy 13 14 22.

Bei Bei and He Caitou become known as the Soul Tool Department’s “twin stars,” with both receiving training through its Ultimate Soldier program 27.

Forging and the Third Soul Ring

During the visit to Gengxin City, Bei Bei begins learning blacksmithing under Lou Er. His early attempts expose poor control over his considerable strength, but sustained practice earns him junior-blacksmith certification. He later becomes capable of forging components for Class 1 and Class 2 Soul Tools 35 36 46.

For his third Soul Ring, Bei Bei prefers another light-attribute lesser dragon, matching the origins of his first two rings. Qian Duoduo instead finds a suitable Lightning Dragon Python with light-attribute lesser-dragon bloodline. Absorbing its ring gives Bei Bei a light-and-lightning attack that Qian Duoduo considers especially promising against evil Soul Masters 36 37 39.

Evil Soul Master Ambush

Nightmare Douluo, Mask Douluo, and other evil Soul Masters ambush Bei Bei, Mu Changqing, and Qian Duoduo. During the attack, Bei Bei channels Soul Power into Mu Changqing while his brother reinforces Qian Duoduo’s barrier. Qian Duoduo breaks the dream trapping them and escapes with the brothers; Xuan Zi intercepts their pursuers and ultimately kills both enemy Douluos 41 42.

Altered Karmic Threads

After the ambush, Bei Bei suffers a sudden, needle-like pain in his head and senses that an unseen girl is waiting for him. The God King of Destruction reveals to Mu Changqing that Tang San has connected Bei Bei’s karmic threads to the Tang Sect 42.

Unable to change those threads, Mu Changqing considers taking control of the Tang Sect, following the God King’s suggestion that Bei Bei could become its sect master. This remains a proposed response, not an established position or affiliation for Bei Bei 42. His unexplained feeling that a girl awaits him recurs during the return journey to Shrek 47.

Appearance

• Resemblance: Looks approximately eighty percent like Mu Changqing, though he is initially the shorter and less sturdily built twin 1.
• Height: Approximately 1.65 meters during the stay at the Blacksmiths’ Guild, compared with Mu Changqing’s approximately 1.73 meters 44.
• Martial Soul manifestation: A platinum dragon with closely packed scales and clear horns carrying an aura of light and holiness 2.
• Dragon Transformation: Initially transforms his left arm into an enlarged, platinum-scaled dragon arm with golden claws. After obtaining his third ring, his possession displays two platinum dragon claws and platinum horns on his forehead 8 39.

Personality

Bei Bei is playful, expressive, and more childlike than his unusually mature twin. He steals Mu Changqing’s dragon meat, proudly seeks approval for his achievements, and pouts when reminded not to become arrogant. He also teases Mu Changqing and Na’er about their affectionate behavior and jokes about selling Zhao Wuji’s golden statue 1 14 27.

His admiration for Mu Changqing coexists with a persistent competitive streak. He repeatedly challenges his brother despite bloodline suppression and earlier defeats. Even after declaring that he will never duel Mu Changqing again, his fighting spirit remains undiminished 15 28 45.

Bei Bei applies himself seriously to technical study. He continues examining Class 2 formation diagrams after lessons end and works on Soul Tools while his Martial Soul independently absorbs nearby draconic power. His skill is not flawless: attempts to assemble a more precise Class 3 tool fail because of formation or material problems, leaving him eager for Qian Duoduo’s guidance 14 43 46.

Holy Dragon of Light

Bei Bei perfectly inherits Mu En’s Martial Soul, with a powerful light attribute particularly effective against evil Soul Masters 2 39.

• Early Dragon Transformation: Achieves transformation with one ring; Mu En required two rings at the same stage of his development 8.
• Bloodline suppression: Remains vulnerable to Mu Changqing’s Golden Dragon King. Greater cultivation does not inherently negate this hierarchy between dragon bloodlines 3 4.
• Developing light attribute: His light element approaches Ultimate Light, but is not confirmed to have reached it 37 44.

Second Soul Skill: Holy Dragon Light Wings

Produces radiant dragon wings, granting flight and aerial maneuverability 28 44.

• Supports evasive movement, diving saber attacks, and airborne cannon fire 44.
• Allows him to combine flight with ranged Soul Tools; Mu Changqing describes the resulting fighting style as a “mobile artillery platform” 45.
• Its flight does not prevent bloodline suppression: Mu Changqing’s Golden Dragon Roar causes Bei Bei to stall in midair 44.

Third Soul Skill: Holy Dragon Thunder Howl Break

Obtained from a 6,500-year-old Lightning Dragon Python; combines light, lightning, and the force of a dragon’s roar 37 39.

• Releases blazing light-and-lightning waves; his demonstration produces four successive waves 39.
• Inflicts mental shock and sonic damage, and can stun surrounding enemies 39.
