Background / History

Patrols and the Oasis Encounter

Yue Mei leads the Charming Snake Tribe, whose territory includes an oasis near the Snake-People Holy City. Following Queen Medusa’s lockdown order, she and her four personal guards patrol the desert for suspicious activity. She regularly bathes at the oasis afterward to wash away the day’s heat and exhaustion 22.

During one such visit, she discovers Luo Yang already asleep in the lake. Believing him to be a weak human intruder, she teases him, attacks with her tail, and sends a guard to subdue him. After he defeats that guard with lightning, she orders another to capture him alive, intending to torture him rather than kill him immediately 22 23.

Luo Yang’s transformation into Tiga reverses the confrontation. Recognizing his Dou Emperor-level strength, Yue Mei attempts to escape and warn Medusa while her guards delay him. He repeatedly intercepts her, and she rejects his claim that he has come to negotiate a mutually beneficial deal 24.

Captivity and Escape Attempt

After Yue Mei declares herself prepared for death, Luo Yang forcibly kisses her. She retaliates with her serpentine sword, but he catches the blade and subsequently seals most of her cultivation. Unable to maintain flight, she falls until he catches her by the tail and carries her back to the oasis. Discovering the extent of her lost strength leaves her furious and humiliated 25 26.

That night, Yue Mei removes four scales from vital areas of her body and stains them with blood essence. Her guards carry the scales along separate escape routes while she burns her life force to become a Snake Spirit and head toward the Holy City. The deception fails because the Sparklence can track the light sealing her Dou Qi 27 28.

Rather than face recapture and feared enslavement, Yue Mei attempts self-detonation. Hai Bodong freezes her just before she completes the technique. Tushan Rongrong then frees her and regenerates her damaged scales, while Luo Yang removes the seal. Although her wounds and cultivation recover, the life force spent on her transformation cannot be restored 28.

Guiding the Humans to Medusa

Tushan Rongrong’s explanation persuades Yue Mei to guide the party to Queen Medusa, though she warns that she will oppose them at the cost of her life if they harm the queen or tribe. During their journey, she begins to reconsider her judgment of Luo Yang after observing his gentler behavior in private 28.

At the Holy City, Medusa questions whether Yue Mei has brought enemies to their gates. Luo Yang steps in front of her and announces his marriage proposal. When he later threatens Medusa with the Zeperion Ray, Yue Mei flies between them and invokes his promise not to harm her people. He restrains her using her own tail, preventing her from joining the other commanders’ defensive array 30 31.

Royal Wedding and City Defense

Once the marriage agreement succeeds, Yue Mei’s standing rises: the guide who might have been condemned as a traitor is instead credited as a major contributor to the tribe’s good fortune. She works especially hard supervising decorations at the sacrificial plaza 37.

At the wedding, Yue Mei and Hua She’er escort Medusa to the platform. Yue Mei then leads the Dance of Blessing. When Gu He’s party approaches, she leaves the ceremony with the commanders, refuses his request to see Medusa, and orders the humans to depart. After Medusa commands an attack, Yue Mei joins the other commanders in charging Gu He’s group 38 39 40.

Appearance

  • Build: A human upper body above a long snake tail, with long hair and a slender waist 22.
  • Skin: The introductory description emphasizes pale shoulders; her later traveling appearance describes exposed wheat-colored skin 22 29.
  • Clothing: Wears lightweight, revealing garments suited to the desert climate 22 29.
  • Ceremonial attire: Dresses in red wedding clothing while accompanying Medusa 38.
  • Sensitive tail: Her tail, particularly its tip, is extremely sensitive; Luo Yang’s grip leaves her overwhelmed and unable to respond normally 25.

Personality

Yue Mei is approachable with her personal guards in private. They bathe and play together without the rigid hierarchy associated with the other tribal leaders. Her pride in her strength and command is nevertheless intense: losing her Dou Wang cultivation wounds her dignity and causes her to lash out at a guard who tries to address her 22 26.

She is deeply distrustful of humans, viewing their promises as deceitful against the backdrop of the tribes’ longstanding conflict. Her loyalty to Medusa outweighs concern for her own safety: she prioritizes warning the queen, risks her life to escape captivity, and later confronts Luo Yang directly when he threatens the Holy City. Her attitude becomes more receptive after Tushan Rongrong heals her and explains the party’s intentions 24 25 28 31.

  • Tail attacks: Uses her submerged tail to attempt to seize Luo Yang’s leg 23.
  • Swordsmanship: Attacks with a serpentine sword, though her thrust cannot overcome Tiga’s strength 25.

Snake Spirit Transformation

  • A forbidden tribal technique that transforms her into a small, translucent snake and conceals her presence 27 28.
  • Burns life force that Tushan Rongrong’s healing cannot replenish 28.
  • Does not prevent the Sparklence from locating the sealing light inside her body 27.

Blood-Essence Decoys

  • Uses forcibly removed scales bearing blood essence to create false trails carrying her presence 28.
  • Employs four guards to take these decoys in different directions while she follows a fifth route 27 28.

Forbidden Self-Detonation

  • Can detonate her soul and Dou Qi even while her cultivation is sealed 28.
  • Requires hand seals; Hai Bodong interrupts the attempt by freezing her before the final seal is completed 28.
