Personality

Dai Mubai is ambitious but strongly motivated by fear of his elder brother. Dai Weisi’s warning about their deceased second brother prompts him to accelerate his escape plans. Nevertheless, he remains possessive of Zhu Zhuqing and angrily rejects the prospect of losing her to another contender 24 26.

He is openly flirtatious. Zhu Zhuqing finds him leaving a hotel with twin women under his arms, and he later approaches four women in Jiang Huai’s party to make their acquaintance. When Zhu Zhuyun publicly mocks his flight from Star Luo, his embarrassment turns into an immediate attack 42 44.

Imperial Succession and Betrothal

Dai Tianfeng orders the Nether Grand Duke to select a talented daughter as Dai Mubai’s future wife. Zhu Zhuqing is subsequently betrothed to him, binding both children to the imperial succession struggle. During the gathering, Dai Weisi warns him not to die young like their second brother; Dai Mubai interprets this as confirmation of his elder brother’s involvement and begins planning his escape 5 24.

Competition for Zhu Zhuqing

Dai Mubai initially welcomes Bibi Dong’s removal of Zhu Zhuyun, believing the loss of Dai Weisi’s fiancée will weaken his brother. Shrek Academy Confrontation

Dai Mubai accompanies Tang San and Xiao Wu to Shrek’s registration desk, then stays to assist Li Yusong. Seeing Zhu Zhuqing among the applicants renews his hopes that she has chosen him over Dai Weisi 52.
