Background / History
Holy Maiden and Rise to Pope
Bibi Dong was invested as Spirit Hall's Holy Maiden decades before Ye Han's investiture. She later became the reigning Supreme Pontiff and took Hu Liena as her disciple 5 50.
She killed Qian Xunji, while the public account attributed his death to Tang Hao. Ye Han later used his knowledge of the murder to threaten her position. The secret chamber beneath her papal bedchamber also held traumatic associations: when Ye Han dragged her toward it, she remembered Qian Xunji dragging her into the same chamber 20 44.
Taking Ye Han as Her Disciple
Bibi Dong initially opposed Qian Daoliu's attempt to appoint Ye Han Holy Son without her approval, presenting Hu Liena as her preferred candidate. After Ye Han revealed his Radiant Sacred Dragon and Dark Sacred Dragon, she accepted his qualifications but insisted that she personally teach him because they both possessed Twin Martial Souls 4 5.
Her interest was immediately predatory. She wanted to devour his dark Martial Soul to advance her Rakshasa God Assessment and use his light Martial Soul to repair Yu Xiaogang's defect. Qian Daoliu limited her access by arranging for Ling Yuan to become Ye Han's personal teacher and guard 5 6.
Bibi Dong subsequently tried to remove Ling Yuan by questioning her fitness to teach Ye Han. Ye Han's explanation of the whale-glue incident defeated that attempt, forcing Bibi Dong to withdraw her accusation 11.
Suppressing the Soul Ring Theory
In Sunset Forest, Bibi Dong rejected Ye Han's argument that strengthening the body could increase Soul Ring absorption limits. She insisted that a First Soul Ring could not exceed 423 years, defending the theory Yu Xiaogang had developed and she had promoted across the continent 12.
Ye Han returned with three purple Soul Rings, directly contradicting that limit. Rather than permit him to explain his method to Qian Daoliu, Bibi Dong used Gui Mei's investigation of his family background to blackmail him into silence. She paired the threat with an evolvable Shadow Flood Dragon Left Arm Soul Bone as a reward for obedience 19 20 22.
Dragon-Vein Extraction Plot
When Ye Han's investiture was postponed for two years, Bibi Dong welcomed the delay because it would make acting against him easier. After examining his body, she concluded that he could withstand her dragon-vein extraction method once he reached rank forty and obtained his fourth Soul Ring 40.
Over the following two years, she repeatedly summoned and examined him. The Dragon God eventually warned Ye Han of her murderous intent, and he overheard her confirming that she intended to use his bloodlines to repair Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul 42 49.
Defeat and Coerced Submission
Ye Han tricked Bibi Dong into drinking Soul-Sealing Powder, temporarily disabling her Soul Power. He then used the Dragon God's divine power to strengthen his fourth Soul Skill and implant a Ghost Dragon in her Sea of Consciousness 43 44.
He enforced her submission through mental and spiritual pain, threats against Yu Xiaogang, and the threat of exposing Qian Xunji's murder. Bibi Dong was forced to address him as “Master.” When her Soul Power recovered, she attempted to kill him, but the implanted Ghost Dragon incapacitated her again 44 45 46.
Her devotion to Yu Xiaogang began to weaken after his insults and Ye Han's confrontation over his treatment of her. Following the disturbance in the Pope's Palace, she ordered her subordinates to conceal the incident and expel Yu Xiaogang from Spirit City permanently 47 48.
Appeasement and Continued Ambitions
Bibi Dong initially planned to kill Ye Han after becoming the Rakshasa God. The Rakshasa God intervened, warning that his power might originate from one of the Five Great God Kings and ordering her to cultivate a favorable relationship with him instead 48.
She abandoned direct retaliation but retained her ambition to destroy Spirit Hall and the Douluo Continent. Her new strategy was to please Ye Han and turn him into a tool. She prepared gifts based on two years of secretly monitoring his preferences and later presided over his Holy Son investiture alongside Qian Daoliu 48 50.
Appearance
Bibi Dong is depicted as a strikingly beautiful, mature woman with an imposing public presence 5 40.
- Eyes: Rose-red, peach-blossom eyes, described as both seductive and majestic 5.
- Hair: Long enough for Ye Han to seize while dragging her toward the secret chamber 44.
- Signature accessory: The Pope's Scepter, which she strikes against the floor when asserting authority 5 40.
Personality
Bibi Dong is proud of her talent and highly sensitive to challenges against her authority. She responds aggressively when the enshrined elders question her standing, and she uses her office to secure control over Ye Han's education 5 40.
Her approach to control combines intimidation, secrecy, and rewards. She investigates Ye Han's background, blackmails him into suppressing his findings, and then gives him a valuable Soul Bone to encourage obedience. Her declaration that she will destroy what she cannot obtain encapsulates this possessiveness 6 22.
Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang repeatedly overrides her judgment. She defends his Soul Ring theory despite contrary evidence and plans to sacrifice Ye Han to repair his Martial Soul. That attachment begins to fracture only after Yu Xiaogang's contempt becomes impossible for her to dismiss 12 19 42 47.
Her eventual cooperation with Ye Han is strategic rather than a renunciation of her ambitions. Once warned that opposing him could provoke a God King, she switches from attempting to destroy him to attempting to manipulate him 48 50.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Bibi Dong possesses two top-tier Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power 5.
- Uses her experience with Twin Martial Souls to claim that she is uniquely qualified to teach Ye Han 5.
- Instructs him to complete one Martial Soul's Soul Rings before cultivating the other 11.
- Her own Martial Souls are below demigod level; both react strongly to a presence within Ye Han's body 5 40.
Titled Douluo Soul Power
Her cultivation allows her to exert formidable pressure and conduct detailed examinations of another Soul Master's body 5 40.
- Clashes with Golden Jaw Douluo through their released pressure; Qian Daoliu forcibly ends the confrontation 5.
- Infuses Ye Han with Soul Power to assess his internal physical tolerance, causing him to lose consciousness during the examination 40.
- Cannot break the Ghost Dragon implanted by Ye Han after it is empowered by the Dragon God, even after her Soul Power recovers 46 47.
Rakshasa God Inheritance
Bibi Dong is undergoing the Rakshasa God's assessment, but has not completed the inheritance in the supplied chapters 5 42 48.
- Intends to devour Ye Han's Dark Sacred Dragon bloodline to accelerate her divine inheritance 5 42.
- Can be summoned into a separate space through her consciousness to receive the Rakshasa God's instructions 48.
- Initially believes attaining the divine position will enable her to retaliate against Ye Han 48.
Dragon-Vein Extraction
Bibi Dong possesses a secret method intended to extract Ye Han's twin dragon veins 22 40.
- Plans to use his bloodlines for her divine assessment and Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul repair 5 42.
- Determines that Ye Han must reach rank forty and acquire his fourth Soul Ring before his body can withstand the procedure 40.
- Never successfully performs the extraction in the supplied chapters; Ye Han acts first 43 44.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Pope's Scepter — A symbol of office that she uses when asserting her authority before Spirit Hall's elders 5 40.
- Shadow Flood Dragon Left Arm Soul Bone — An evolvable, three-thousand-year Soul Bone obtained from Yue Guan and given to Ye Han. She states that it could eventually evolve to the hundred-thousand-year level; after absorption, it grants Ye Han the Dragon Shadow Technique 6 22 23.
Relationships
- Ye Han — Her final disciple and intended bloodline-extraction victim. Their relationship reverses when he implants a divine-powered control skill in her; her later efforts to please him conceal an attempt to make him serve her ambitions 5 40 44 48 50.
- Hu Liena — Her disciple and original preferred Holy Son candidate. Bibi Dong is angered when Hu Liena supports Ye Han's findings over her teachings 5 19.
- Qian Renxue — Her biological daughter. Ye Han identifies this connection as one reason Qian Daoliu will not move decisively against her 23.
- Qian Daoliu — A rival center of authority within Spirit Hall. He counters her control of Ye Han by appointing Ling Yuan as the boy's personal teacher and guard 5 6.
- Ling Yuan — A Spirit Hall elder whose protection of Ye Han obstructs Bibi Dong's plans. Ling Yuan's respect for the Pope collapses after learning of the extraction plot 11 49.
- Yu Xiaogang — Her beloved and intended beneficiary of Ye Han's Radiant Sacred Dragon bloodline. His contempt shakes her attachment, and she eventually orders him expelled from Spirit City 42 47 48.
- Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Loyal subordinates entrusted with acquiring the evolvable Soul Bone and investigating Ye Han. Their later belief that she is having an affair with Ye Han is their interpretation, not an established account of the relationship 5 6 20 48 50.
- Qian Xunji — The man she killed and whose death was publicly blamed on Tang Hao. Memories of being dragged into his secret chamber remain a source of terror 20 44.
- Rakshasa God — The deity whose position she seeks to inherit. Orders her to stop plotting against Ye Han because of his possible God King backing 48.
- Xiao Wu — An enemy whose mother Bibi Dong killed. Ye Han later suggests that the mother's soul might still survive within Bibi Dong, making her death a possible obstacle to resurrection rather than a simple solution 35 49.
