Enrollment at Heaven Dou Royal Academy!
Early the next morning, Grant led Su Lin and Xiao Wu to the gates of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy Affiliated Intermediate Academy, which were also the east gates of Heaven Dou Royal Academy.
Well, although it was called an affiliated academy, it was actually part of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy system. Its east gates were the royal academy's east gates. Heaven Dou Royal Academy occupied an extremely vast area, and the sprawling cluster of buildings in its southeastern corner, covering roughly one-fifth of the grounds, housed the affiliated intermediate academy.
"Grant, over here!"
As he stepped through the academy gates, Su Lin spotted a middle-aged teacher with an elegant, refined bearing waving at them from a distance.
At the sight of him, a smile spread across Grant's face. He led Su Lin and Xiao Wu briskly over and teased in a relaxed tone, "Samuel, don't tell me you were waiting here just for me?"
Samuel rolled his eyes and said irritably, "Glad you know it. You'd better treat me to a few more meals from now on."
"Of course, of course!" Grant readily agreed, making no effort whatsoever to hide how little he meant it.
Samuel clearly knew his old friend's talent for serving up pies in the sky. Rather than dwell on the matter, he naturally turned his head toward Su Lin and Xiao Wu, looking them up and down. "These are your two kids?"
"They are." Grant raised his chin slightly, a hint of pride in his voice. "Well? Not bad, right?"
"When did you become such a show-off?" Samuel shook his head helplessly, then grew serious. "But let me make one thing clear first. Although I secured their enrollment slots for you, the entrance assessment follows academy-wide regulations. They still have to go through the required procedures. There's no bending the rules on that."
"Of course I know." Grant patted his shoulder, brimming with confidence. "Don't worry, Samuel. These two kids of mine are geniuses."
Samuel shrugged, slipped both hands into his trouser pockets, and turned, tipping his chin toward the teaching building. "Come on. I'll take you to report to the academic affairs office first and get your basic information entered. Someone there will arrange the assessment."
Ten minutes later, the group arrived at the academic affairs office.
Compared with the exquisitely decorated academic affairs office before them, furnished with luxurious materials, the shabby little office at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy was practically a chicken coop.
"Um, may I ask what the assessment involves?" Standing outside the academic affairs office, Su Lin raised his hand to ask.
"Of course," Samuel said simply. "It mainly consists of two parts: a Soul Power Level test and a practical combat assessment. You'll find out the details shortly."
Soon, Su Lin and Xiao Wu each filled out a registration form, attached their photographs, and were led into a spacious testing room.
In the center of the room stood two waist-high crystal ball pedestals. The crystal balls were two sizes larger than the one used during Martial Soul awakening, and their material was clearer, giving off a soft halo under the room's lighting.
"Come on. Place your palms on the crystal testing balls, release your Martial Souls, and circulate your Soul Power," Samuel said, pointing at the two crystal balls standing side by side.
Su Lin and Xiao Wu stepped forward as instructed, each pressing their right palm against the smooth surface of a crystal ball.
As they poured in their Soul Power, two yellow hundred-year soul rings rose from beneath their feet in unison, lighting up as the clear crystal balls instantly burst into dazzling light.
"Rank sixteen Soul Power, hundred-year soul rings. Pass." The assessment teacher beside them lowered his head and made a few notes on his clipboard, then looked up and nodded at Samuel. "You can take them to the next part."
Although they were likewise curious about his Poké Ball Martial Soul, it went no further than curiosity, unlike back in Nuoding, where it had immediately stirred up the entire academic affairs office.
A few minutes later, at the practical combat assessment grounds...
"What do you mean, I'm supposed to fight a seven-hundred-year Soul Beast?" On the platform, an upper-year boy stared blankly at the eager Pikachu before him, then hurriedly turned toward the teacher overseeing the assessment. "Teacher, did I offend you somehow?"
He had only come because he had been told he could beat up a newly enrolled junior. Why had the difficulty suddenly been cranked up for no reason?
He was only rank nineteen, not twenty-nine!
The assessment teacher rubbed his brow too. In all his years overseeing assessments, he had never encountered such an unusual Martial Soul.
"Forget it. You pass. Little girl, you're up." After a moment's thought, he could only wave his hand and have Xiao Wu replace Pikachu.
There was nothing else he could do. With this seven-hundred-year Soul Beast, even taking the practical combat assessment for an advanced Soul Master academy would have resulted in a pass without any surprises.
Once Xiao Wu had taken her place in the center of the grounds, the assessment teacher cleared his throat and said, "The person before you is a rank nineteen Power Attack System Soul Master. Just attack him with everything you have. You don't have to win, only prove that your level isn't an empty shell forcibly raised through drugs."
"That's right, junior. Don't worry. Use whatever tricks you have on your senior here. No need to go easy on me." Seeing this, the upper-year student relaxed again and patted his chest to show how strong he was.
"Really?" Xiao Wu's eyes immediately lit up at his words. She licked her little canine teeth and gave the upper-year student a friendly smile.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
After a string of dull impacts, the esteemed senior lay flat on his back, his face filled with despair as two trails of clear tears slipped from the corners of his eyes.
The world might as well end.
Were kids already this fierce these days...?
"Pass." Beside them, the assessment teacher was utterly thrilled.
Seven-year-old geniuses at rank sixteen were rare even in Spirit Hall, yet their Heaven Dou Academy had gained two at once.
Didn't that mean their Heaven Dou Academy had a chance to win the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament seven years from now?
The enrollment procedures were completed in a single morning, and both of them had applied to live off campus. All that remained was to wait for classes to officially begin in a week.
With Su Lin and Xiao Wu's enrollment settled, Grant naturally had no desire to remain in Heaven Dou City. He had been away from Wealth Village for nearly two months. He did not need to think to know how many matters would have piled up in the village, waiting for him to return and handle them.
"Heaven Dou City isn't Nuoding City. Even with Sect Master Ning's favor, you must watch your words and actions." Before leaving, Grant earnestly reminded them.
"Don't worry, Uncle. I know what matters." Su Lin readily agreed, his expression serious, and only then did Grant feel reassured.
Before long, Grant boarded the carriage and set off back to Wealth Village under the escort of Sean and the other guards.
Watching the carriage disappear at the end of the long street, Xiao Wu playfully reached out and tugged Su Lin's sleeve. Her lively eyes curved into crescents as she called softly, "Su Lin~"
