Family and Transmigration

Yu Tianling retains memories of a previous life and recognizes the world of Douluo Continent shortly after birth. He overhears his parents discussing pursuit by Yu Yuanzhen and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. His father accuses the clan of wanting to use him to produce more talented descendants 1.

After falling asleep as a newborn, Tianling awakens in the care of his maternal grandfather, Lin Qingze, the chief of Swift Village. He grows up believing his parents died because of the clan’s pursuit and develops a desire for revenge. A letter left in his father’s storage ring later reveals that Yu Xuanyu and Lin Mengxue may instead have been transported to an unknown continent 1 2.

Joining Spirit Hall

After Han Qinhu confirms his innate full Soul Power, Tianling accepts an invitation to join Spirit Hall. Lin Qingze helps him obtain his first Soul Ring before Gui Mei escorts them to Spirit City 2 3 6.

Bibi Dong tests his Martial Soul through escalating Soul Power pressure. At her full Level 99 pressure, his phoenix responds and temporarily combines with the Ancient Void Dragon, exposing his twin Martial Souls. She accepts him as her disciple and appoints him Holy Son 6.

He studies theory under Fei Situo, practical combat under Bibi Dong, and medicinal herbs under a Spirit Hall apothecary. When Qian Daoliu later imposes a Holy Son trial, Tianling prepares to defend Bibi Dong’s dignity and ultimately earns the Elder Hall’s unanimous approval 9 14.

Divine Inheritance and the Ice and Fire Spring

At Level 40, Tianling follows his parents’ map into ruins in Sunset Forest. His inherited storage ring opens a bronze door into a hidden world, where he climbs a thousand-step stairway over six hours and obtains a divine inheritance 14 15.

He later identifies this inheritance to Bibi Dong as belonging to the God of War, while concealing the truth about the God King of Equality. Tianling maintains that the God of War described himself as a First-Level God, contradicting Bibi Dong’s understanding that he was a Second-Level Deity 32.

Seeking resources for his third trial, Tianling brings Gui Mei to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Spring. He stops Gui Mei from killing Dugu Bo and bargains to cure Dugu Bo and his granddaughter in exchange for their joining Spirit Hall. Consuming two opposing immortal herbs and entering the spring gives Tianling a Soul Core, poison immunity, and Ultimate Ice and Ultimate Fire 16 17 18 19 20.

Zhu Zhuqing and the Great Soul Arenas

After leaving the spring, Tianling rescues Zhu Zhuqing from pursuers serving her elder sister. He takes her to Heaven Dou City and later secures her admission to Spirit Hall Academy under Bibi Dong’s protection 21 22 25 32.

Competing as Dragon Phoenix, he remains undefeated in the Heaven Dou Great Soul Arena’s Soul Ancestor matches without using his Martial Soul. Within two months, he earns a Diamond Soul Fighting Badge and the title Ever-Victorious King 23 24.

Following three more years of cultivation, he accompanies Zhu Zhuqing to the Star Dou Great Forest to pursue a dark-attribute ring and further Martial Soul evolution. There, he kills a 16,000-year-old Dark Demon Evil God Tiger, captures its Soul Pearl, and takes the Dark Night Bodhi Fruit intended for Zhu Zhuqing 33 35 38.

Tianling departs for Slaughter City with Hu Liena and Zhu Zhuqing to complete his sixth God of War trial. Before entering, he makes them drink Bloody Marys—human blood—and uses a tavern massacre to teach decisive retaliation 46 47 48.

He can distinguish a settled dispute from a lasting enmity. After defeating Yan, he dismisses the wager barring Yan from associating with Hu Liena, asking only that Yan speak more politely. Conversely, he kills Zhu Zhuqing’s pursuers without hesitation and later teaches his companions to eliminate threats decisively 9 21 48.

His affection for Zhu Zhuqing includes concern for her independence and strength. Recognizing that she would not accept falling behind, he seeks ways to improve her Martial Soul and talent, praises her progress, and uses his Soul Power to help her recover from excessive cultivation 23 24 33.
