Background / History
Mo Lan was brought into Spirit Hall by Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan after awakening a Plant-type Martial Soul. Although they did not formally hold the titles of master and disciple, their relationship functioned that way in practice 40.
Before Luo Chen attended her training session, Mo Lan had been summoned to treat him while he lay unconscious from his injuries. She knew about his severe poisoning and Bibi Dong's concern for him, but still believed that he had little time left to live 40.
During the academy's physical training, she allowed Luo Chen to leave early and offered to escort him. Yue Guan then spoke to her through voice transmission, revealing that he was personally protecting the child. He instructed her to keep quiet about the matter and take special care of Luo Chen in daily interactions; she agreed 40.
Personality
Mo Lan is a severe instructor who demands that students complete their assignments. She shouts at those who slack off, threatens to withhold dinner, and refuses to let the class leave before finishing its work 40.
Her manner toward Luo Chen is markedly gentler. Beyond respecting the Supreme Pontiff's wishes, she genuinely pities his suffering and wants to care for him. Her tenderness toward him contrasts sharply with the intimidating gaze that keeps the other students from protesting his exemption 40.
Abilities & Skills
Lily of the Valley
- Stamina restoration: Replenishes students' stamina during physical training 40.
- Internal healing: Treats injuries from the inside out, helping prevent hidden damage from hindering cultivation or causing later complications 40.
- Fine injury detection: Excels at identifying extremely minute hidden injuries; precision, rather than exceptional healing strength, is its chief advantage 40.
- Limits: Has difficulty repairing certain forms of bodily wear when the underlying change is growth rather than an actual injury 50.
Physical Training Instruction
- Supervises the academy students' running and physical conditioning 40.
- Provides healing support alongside strenuous exercise to address the damage students might otherwise accumulate 40.
Relationships
- Yue Guan — Brought her into Spirit Hall and serves as her teacher in practice, despite their lack of formal master–disciple titles. She responds respectfully to his instructions 40.
- Luo Chen — Patient and student whom she treats with unusual leniency because of his fragile condition. Yue Guan also explicitly entrusts her with caring for him 40.
- Bibi Dong — Spirit Hall's Supreme Pontiff. Through treating Luo Chen, Mo Lan recognizes how deeply Bibi Dong values him 40.
