Background / History

Holy Maiden and Qian Xunji

Yue Guan and Gui Mei discovered Bibi Dong after she awakened twin Martial Souls and brought her before Qian Xunji. They subsequently protected her during her time as Spirit Hall’s Holy Maiden 6 13.

Bibi Dong’s relationship with Yu Xiaogang brought her into conflict with Qian Xunji. Her teacher violated her, and she endured his threats against Yu Xiaogang while being forced to bear Qian Renxue. These experiences underlie her hatred of Qian Xunji and the Qian Family, as well as her estrangement from her daughter 20 22 24 29.

Six years before meeting Luo Chen again, she entered Slaughter City to escape Qian Xunji’s control and ease her suffering. After Tang Hao severely wounded Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong killed him, devoured his power, and opened the Rakshasa Secret Realm. She succeeded him as Supreme Pontiff roughly two months before the story begins 2 4.

Meeting Luo Chen

Despite her title, Bibi Dong initially possessed little independent authority. Qian Daoliu and the Worship Hall remained powerful, and she needed loyal followers to consolidate her position. Reports of a child whose Martial Soul resisted several awakening attempts prompted her to travel to Nuoding City, partly to recruit him and partly to see Yu Xiaogang 2 3 5.

There, she told Luo Chen that his parents had died during a Fallen Soul Master attack and that her Death Spider Emperor Poison had caused his chronic illness. Unable to cure him, she apologized and promised to make amends. She personally completed his awakening and accepted him as her disciple after discovering his extraordinary aptitude 4 5.

Her original intention to acquire an obedient asset developed into genuine maternal attachment. She protected the secrets of Luo Chen’s Sun Disc, arranged Wang Sheng’s admission to Spirit Hall Academy, and resolved to raise Luo Chen like a son 3 8.

Breaking with Yu Xiaogang

Bibi Dong initially sought Yu Xiaogang’s advice about Luo Chen’s fragile body. Their reunion disappointed her when Yu Xiaogang immediately accused Spirit Hall of plotting evil. Although she remained attached to him, Luo Chen’s support and criticism gradually made her reconsider his behavior 13 14 19.

She eventually arranged for Luo Chen to repair Yu Xiaogang’s Martial Soul, treating the favor as repayment of her perceived debt. When the extracted Dragon King Origin devastated Luo Chen’s body and triggered his poison, she neutralized the poison, struck Yu Xiaogang unconscious with her Divine Slaughter’s Domain, and rushed her disciple to Spirit City 20 21 22.

Bibi Dong abandoned her remaining romantic attachment to Yu Xiaogang after the incident, though she acknowledged that he had not caused the disaster deliberately. Ye Renxin’s subsequent warning that Luo Chen had only three years to live nearly overwhelmed her; Luo Chen’s assurance that his Martial Soul could repair his foundation restored her hope 22 23.

Ascension and the Worship Hall

Bibi Dong initially refused Luo Chen’s offer of Ascension because she feared another injury to him. Qian Daoliu’s arrival heightened her concern that she lacked the strength to protect her disciple, and she ultimately underwent the ritual 24 25.

The ritual raised her normal cultivation to rank 97 and evolved both Martial Souls. During her confrontation with Qian Daoliu, she then fused them into the Demon Abyss Divine Queen, reaching rank 99 with Divine Power. Qian Daoliu withdrew rather than risk a battle between Demigods destroying Spirit City 26 27 28.

The two later publicly described their confrontation as a friendly test of her breakthrough. Their rivalry continued, but they established a working understanding to protect Luo Chen 31 37.

Consolidating Spirit Hall

Luo Chen’s presence redirected Bibi Dong’s ambitions toward building Spirit Hall into her own cause rather than destroying it. She recognized the organization’s benefits to the continent while maintaining her determination to remove the Qian Family’s control 15 37 39.

She subsequently used access to Luo Chen’s Ascension and cultivation assistance as bargaining tools with the Enshrined. She also ordered a continent-wide search for hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts to fill her remaining nine Soul Ring slots and strengthen her combat abilities 41 45 48.

After learning more about Luo Chen’s Star Core cultivation system, Bibi Dong entered seclusion to attempt condensing a second Star Core. The supplied chapters do not establish whether she succeeds 50.

Personality

Bibi Dong combines pride, ambition, and ruthlessness with intense emotional vulnerability. She wants control over Spirit Hall and refuses to accept the Qian Family’s dominance. Her administration rejects Qian Xunji’s ostentation, and she treats corruption, exploitation, and deception as offenses punishable by death 2 15 37 39.

Her favoritism toward loved ones sharply contrasts with her treatment of outsiders. Guilt over Luo Chen’s poisoning makes her exceptionally protective, to the point of postponing her own Soul Ring hunt and refusing benefits she believes might endanger him. Her attachment also becomes possessive: she fears losing him to someone outside Spirit Hall and considers encouraging a relationship with Hu Liena or Qian Renxue 19 24 36 37.

She explicitly rejects becoming another Qian Xunji. Even when fear of losing Luo Chen briefly makes her understand her former teacher’s possessiveness, she insists that she will not hurt her disciple or repeat his abuse 19 36.
