Background / History
Departure from Star Luo
Dai Mubai is a Star Luo prince and the younger brother of Dai Weisi. Unable to defeat his elder brother, he fled to the Heaven Dou Empire, leaving his fiancée, Zhu Zhuqing, behind. His womanizing further strained their relationship, although their formal engagement remained intact 7 18 49.
By the time the Heavenly Screen begins selecting travelers, he is a Shrek Academy student and leader of the Shrek Seven Devils 41 42.
Watching Zhu Zhuqing’s Rise
Dai Mubai reacts to Zhu Zhuqing’s selection with surprise, envy, and jealousy. When she enters the Heavenly Emperor’s maidservant selection, he insists that her pride will prevent her from staying. He bets that she will soon leave, offering to run naked around the field ten times if he loses, against a single Gold Soul Coin if he wins 3 7.
Her decision to remain undermines his confidence. Although he continues claiming that she must have a hidden plan, he increasingly treats her service as a personal humiliation. Zhu Zhuyun’s subsequent decision to join the Heavenly Court briefly cheers him because it places Dai Weisi in the same position 9 18 20.
Watching Zhu Zhuqing learn the Great Void Technique makes him recognize both her growing strength and the widening distance between them. Jiang Wanwan’s explanation that the Heavenly Emperor does not force women into service temporarily reassures him, but Zhu Zhuqing’s admiration for Lin Hao and willingness to train as a bath attendant renew his jealousy 21 22 28 33.
Third Transmigration
The Heavenly Screen selects Dai Mubai as the first participant in its third batch, identifying him as a level 38 Soul Elder. He celebrates the opportunity as a chance to surpass Lin Hao, reclaim Zhu Zhuqing, and rule the Heavenly Court. Li Dan and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion are selected alongside him, though all three arrive separately 41 42.
Instead of arriving near cultivation resources, Dai Mubai materializes inside a prison cell beneath White Emperor City. Unable to move its bars, he shouts for release and awakens an elderly prisoner. Their confrontation ends with the old man breaking his right arm through physical strength alone 42.
Dai Mubai attributes the defeat to carelessness and attacks again using White Tiger Possession and White Tiger Vajra Transformation. The prisoner casually slaps him into the bars, dispersing his transformation and leaving him severely injured 43.
Life in the Heavenly Prison
The old man’s sudden deference to a passing guard bewilders Dai Mubai. He subsequently learns that the prison belongs to the Heavenly Court and that his cellmate is a Bitter Sea Realm cultivator imprisoned for indiscriminate killing thirty years earlier. Dai Mubai still assumes that anyone capable of defeating him so easily must occupy a formidable cultivation realm 43 44.
The guard speculates that Dai Mubai offended an important person and orders the prisoner not to kill him. Dai Mubai blames Lin Hao for his situation, but the person responsible for his confinement is not identified in these events. He agrees to behave while privately resolving to survive, understand the world’s rules, and become stronger than Lin Hao 43 44.
The next morning, his cellmate directs him to take medicine before their scheduled reform through labor. With both arms broken, Dai Mubai picks up the pill using his mouth. It repairs his injuries within a few breaths, then raises his Soul Power from level 38 to level 41 without another Soul Ring 49 50.
Appearance
- General appearance: Described as handsome and distinguished in bearing; he considers himself admired by many noble girls in Star Luo 28.
- Eyes: Has unusual double pupils, emphasized during his Martial Soul transformation 43.
- White Tiger Possession: His muscles expand, fur appears, a “king” character forms on his forehead, and his hands gain sharp tiger claws 43.
- Vajra Transformation: His body enlarges further and his skin takes on a metallic sheen 43.
Personality
Dai Mubai is proud of his royal birth, appearance, and combat ability. His selection prompts an openly entitled declaration that success should be his privilege. Even after his first prison defeat, concern for his dignity drives him to attack again rather than accept the difference in strength 41 43.
His resentment toward Zhu Zhuqing centers heavily on status and possession. He acknowledges that they share little affection, yet regards her service to another man as intolerable because she remains his fiancée in name. He also takes pleasure in Dai Weisi’s comparable humiliation 20 33.
His arrogance gives way to appeasement when resistance becomes dangerous. After his cellmate’s repeated beatings, he addresses the old man respectfully, promises obedience, and suppresses objections to the prison routine. This outward compliance does not extinguish his ambition to surpass Lin Hao 44 49.
Abilities & Skills
Evil-Eyed White Tiger
A top-tier Beast Martial Soul used for close-range power attacks 42 43.
- White Tiger Possession: Produces a tiger-like physical transformation with enlarged muscles, fur, and claws 43.
- Soul Rings: Possesses two yellow rings and one purple ring before his prison breakthrough 43.
- Soul Power reinforcement: Can concentrate pale-white Soul Power around his fist without activating a Soul Skill 42.
White Tiger Vajra Transformation
His third Soul Skill and strongest demonstrated combat state during the prison confrontation 43.
- Increases strength, defense, and attack by 100% 43.
- Further enlarges his transformed body and gives his skin a metallic sheen 43.
- Fails to withstand the Bitter Sea prisoner’s casual slap; the impact disperses his Martial Soul Possession and Soul Rings 43.
Combat Experience and Cultivation
- Reacts quickly to the prisoner’s opening attack and counters with a Soul Power-reinforced punch, though he cannot overcome the old man’s speed and strength 42.
- Uses a meditation method to circulate the pill’s medicinal power and advance his Soul Power 50.
- Has not opened his Bitter Sea when questioned by his cellmate; his Soul Elder cultivation does not count as entry into that world’s cultivation system 44.
Equipment / Items
- Unnamed medicinal pill — A dull brownish-black, longan-sized pill supplied in prison. Despite its lack of fragrance or visible distinction, it heals his broken arms in three to five breaths, repairs hidden injuries, nourishes his body, and raises his Soul Power to level 41. Its name and formula are not disclosed 49 50.
Relationships
- Zhu Zhuqing — Fiancée. His flight from Star Luo and womanizing strain their engagement; her growing commitment to the Heavenly Court provokes his jealousy and anger 7 20 33 49.
- Dai Weisi — Elder brother and rival. Dai Mubai fled after realizing he could not defeat him, and later delights in Zhu Zhuyun’s decision embarrassing him 18 20 49.

- Tang San, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun — Shrek companions who sympathize with his relationship troubles, congratulate his selection, and watch his prison ordeal through the Heavenly Screen 9 28 41 43.
- Yu Xiaogang — Offers him consolation over Zhu Zhuqing and later argues that the prisoner who defeated him must be an exceptional expert 9 44.
- Unnamed elderly prisoner — Cellmate and Bitter Sea cultivator. Brutally defeats him, explains the prison hierarchy, and directs him to take medicine before labor 42 43 44 49.
