How Did She End Up on the Douluo Continent?
Gu Yuena suppressed the urge to send the entire tribe off and, carrying Wan's body, kicked open her bargain master's door.
"Master! Bring her back to life for me!"
Xu You looked like he had nearly been caught spying on something. The moment Gu Yuena stepped into the cave dwelling, he waved a hand.
The image in the water mirror vanished at once.
He turned around, his face darkening slightly. Hadn't he told her to knock before coming in?
How rude!
He felt it was time to install a proper door, one that even a Quasi-Sage couldn't break through in a hurry and that would alert him if a Sage showed up.
"Bring her back to life?"
Xu You looked at the old woman, baffled. For a moment, he couldn't work out who she was.
Gu Yuena's little face was cold. "My maid. She grew old, so I want you to bring her back to life."
Xu You was utterly speechless at the request. Did she take him for a Sage? Now she was asking him to bring back the dead.
"I can't. If you'd come a few days earlier, extending her life wouldn't have been a problem, but she's already dead."
Her soul had already entered reincarnation. How was he supposed to bring her back?
Gu Yuena didn't believe him. Although she had always wanted to turn the tables and defeat her toilet master,
she knew her master was special, like an omniscient, omnipotent god.
Even a Sage might not know as much as her toilet master.
But Xu You dealt her a blow straight to the soul. "Even if you bring her back, will she be willing to go on living?"
"Why wouldn't she be?" Gu Yuena frowned, but her face soon fell.
"Even if she isn't, that won't do. I'll make her willing."
Forced love too?
Xu You hadn't expected Gu Yuena to take a human so seriously.
Fortunately, it was a girl. Otherwise, he would have thought the silly dragon's lovesick brain was acting up again.
But bringing her back to life really did put him in a difficult spot.
He couldn't do it.
Birth, aging, sickness, and death were inevitable; lifespans were limited.
He could reshape her body and put her original soul back inside, but the problem was that her soul had already grown old.
It couldn't live another life.
"How about I arrange for her reincarnation? Humans are too fragile, and his talent really isn't suited to cultivation."
"I'll have her reincarnated directly as a dragon. How's that? Wouldn't she be just like you then?"
Gu Yuena said, "You can do that?"
"Why couldn't I?"
Gu Yuena fell silent for a moment. It suddenly occurred to her that if she had such a means, she could return to the Douluo Continent, kill every other living creature, and send them into reincarnation to be reborn as dragons.
Wouldn't the Dragon Clan be able to rise again?
Xu You: ?
Another genius?
"Then send her to reincarnate."
True enough, if she brought Wan back to life, Wan might even resent her and not appreciate what she had done.
It would be better to have her reincarnated directly as a dragon. Then wouldn't she obey Gu Yuena and follow her orders however Gu Yuena pleased?
Humans were still too rebellious.
"Will she keep her old memories after she reincarnates?"
"Will she still be herself?"
"That's not a problem. When your master takes action, nothing will go wrong. Her memories can be sealed, and if you want the seal undone, it can be undone then."
He couldn't guarantee that he would still be himself if he were reincarnated, but under his control, anyone reborn would certainly be the original person, and nothing would go wrong with their soul.
He took out the Book of Life and Death and the Judge's Brush.
As for erasing someone's lifespan from the Book of Life and Death to make them immortal, that was nonsense.
The monkey's own origins had never belonged to the Five Elements; he had been formed from a primordial Sky-Mending Stone.
It was only under this set of rules that those limits had been imposed on the monkey again.
Surely he couldn't just cross out a mortal's entry and make them immortal?
Xu You spread his hands, then held the Judge's Brush and wrote and drew in the Book of Life and Death.
He traced out a soul Gu Yuena knew very well.
Gu Yuena looked at the book with great curiosity.
Naturally, she knew spiritual power could also take on such a form.
But she was genuinely curious about a soul body in this form.
Wan's soul was asleep at the moment, about to be assigned to reincarnation.
But the Dragon Clan's numbers had dwindled, and finding him a suitable identity was no easy task.
Still, it didn't necessarily have to be a true dragon.
Other creatures with a trace of Dragon Clan blood would do too. With the Silver Dragon King around, evolving that bloodline wouldn't be a problem.
But just as he selected a river-and-sea flood dragon, there was a hum.
The instant the tip of the brush touched the soul,
a burst of brilliant golden light swept up Wan's soul, and it vanished before his eyes.
"What happened?"
"Who? Who was it?"
Xu You was instantly on guard. Who could have silently snatched Wan's soul right in front of him?
Not even a Quasi-Sage could have done it.
Could it have been a Sage?
"Everyone has their eye on my Book of Life and Death and Judge's Brush? Which Sage found out who I am?"
But then he remembered that the only Sages in the Primordial World now were Houtu and Nuwa.
The former had benefited greatly from her relationship with him, and with Houtu concealing him, Nuwa couldn't possibly discover her identity.
Then who was it? Could it be...?
"That one?"
Xu You frowned deeply, feeling as though he had run into serious trouble.
Wait, am I going to fail on my very first try?
Seeing her toilet master's expression, Gu Yuena grew nervous at once. "What's wrong? Something didn't go wrong, did it?"
Xu You stared intently at the Book of Life and Death, uncertain and suspicious for a moment.
Then he unleashed the Great Dao of Reincarnation. He refused to believe someone had silently taken Wan's soul away right in front of him.
Wasn't that a slap in his face?
Huh?
Wait?
Xu You discovered that Wan had already completed her reincarnation.
But not at his hands.
And not in the Primordial World, either.
Where was she taken?
"The place of reincarnation shifted."
"I had just arranged for him to be reborn with a dragon's fate and guided him toward a river-and-sea flood dragon, but some unseen force cut off my guidance through reincarnation."
As Xu You explained, he searched for Wan's soul.
"Her soul seems to have run off."
"Run off?"
"Run off!" Gu Yuena's eyes went round. Her toilet master really was unreliable.
How had he managed to mess even this up?
"Stinky master! Give me back my maid!"
Xu You pressed a hand down on her head, telling her to calm down and stop acting up.
He followed the soul's trail.
What's this?
Another world?
You ran pretty far.
He was certain the soul had ended up not in the Primordial World, but in another world-and one he knew very well.
She ran off to Douluo?
Of course, Xu You still had to pretend he didn't know about the Douluo World.
"It's not the Primordial World. I can't quite make out the whole of that world."
"But I can just about see that there are humans there too. They seem to be able to summon the souls of exotic beasts to cultivate."
"The spiritual Qi of heaven and earth is thin there, and there also seems to be a rather impressive big black dragon lying dormant."
Summoning exotic beasts? A big black dragon?
Now that Gu Yuena had calmed down, why did it all sound more and more familiar?
Wasn't that the soul masters of the Douluo Continent and Di Tian?
How had she ended up on the Douluo Continent?
Gu Yuena was dumbfounded.
